Abstract

Hydrological analysis in urban areas often suffers from inaccuracies in Digital Elevation Model (DEM) interpretation, especially in detecting micro-depressions and small-scale surface flow patterns. Previous studies typically relied solely on the automatic D8 algorithm in GIS without manual verification, resulting in flow directions that do not fully represent actual surface conditions. This study aims to compare manual D8-based flow direction calculations with automatic ArcGIS processing using DEMNAS data for Langsa City. The DEM (8.1 m resolution) underwent sink filling, hydrological conditioning, slope and aspect processing, followed by field validation using GPS measurements. The results show that the manual method identified 23 flow paths, whereas ArcGIS detected only 11. The differences stem mainly from micro-topographic variations that the automatic algorithm failed to capture in flat areas or anthropogenically modified surfaces. Field validation confirmed that 8 of the 11 ArcGIS-derived paths matched the actual drainage patterns, while the additional manual paths better represented subtle elevation gradients. This research contributes by offering a systematic comparison between manual and automatic D8 approaches, highlighting the importance of manual verification in low-slope urban terrains. The findings are valuable for micro-scale flood mitigation planning and urban surface hydrology analysis.

Abstract

Rumah Bagonjong Handmade, a micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) in Bukittinggi City, Indonesia, faces challenges in business management, particularly in financial record-keeping, tax compliance, and brand identity, which limit its competitiveness in the digital economy. This community engagement program aimed to strengthen the enterprise’s managerial capacity through training and mentoring in digital financial management using the Sistem Informasi Aplikasi Pencatatan Informasi Keuangan (SIAPIK), tax administration, and branding development. Implemented from September to November 2025, the program consisted of four stages: needs assessment, two intensive training sessions, on-site implementation mentoring, and periodic monitoring and evaluation. The intervention resulted in significant improvements in business management capacity. The enterprise successfully transitioned from manual bookkeeping to digital financial recording using the SIAPIK application, enabling the independent preparation of monthly balance sheets and income statements. Tax literacy also improved, particularly regarding the regulations and calculation procedures for the 0.5% final income tax scheme applicable to MSMEs. In the marketing domain, the program transformed the enterprise’s social media into an active promotional platform through the adoption of a new visual brand identity that reflects the uniqueness of local products and the development of independently managed digital content. To ensure the sustainability of program outcomes, strategic production equipment including an overlock machine, a computerized embroidery machine, a cutting table, and a multifunction sewing machine was provided. These assets contributed to improved production capacity, operational efficiency, and the long-term sustainability of the enterprise.

Abstract

Senior High School 1 Batusangkar is a public school that has utilized technology in the implementation of school activities, starting from the presence of a website as an information room, using computers and the internet at school. In addition, this school is also equipped with four computer laboratories which are used for teaching rooms for students. However, in daily activities, the data generated by the school has not been integrated into an information system properly. This has become a momentum for the Department of Information Systems, UNAND in assisting schools in implementing, socializing and educating the school information system JIBAS (Inter-School Information Network) at Senior High School 1 Batusangkar as a tangible form of carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely community service. JIBAS is a school management information system that helps school operations ranging from academics, finance, libraries, reporting and teacher-student interactions. It is hoped that this system can help schools organize, manage and tidy up their data. Thus, this data becomes information that flows and is useful for various interested parties. The implementation method for this activity consists of three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation. After this community service activity was carried out, the school felt that this system was very good to be developed and used further for school activities as a whole. However, with the various other features that exist in JIBAS besides the Academic features, the school needs to study other features so that the effectiveness and efficiency presented by this system can be felt by the school..

Abstract

The goal of this activityis to create an information system for incoming and outgoing letters that will help the school manage letters administration. So far, the process of managing incoming and outgoing letters at SMA Negeri 1 Sungayang, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra, is still done conventionally and manually, where the process of making incoming and outgoing letters uses MS. Office (Word Processing), which, of course, is not stored in a database archive, and the school will find it difficult later to find a letter file that has been made and is very vulnerable to being damaged by viruses or the like. Meanwhile, for the process of recording and managing each incoming letter, use a ledger made in a specific format to record numbers or other information from the letters. This is also inefficient because it requires a large amount of paper, which is prone to damage or loss of archives. To accomplish this, we require an information system capable of automatically creating and managing incoming and outgoing mail and storing it in a database. The method used in building this application is the waterfall system development method. One of the applications of the incoming and outgoing mail information system is training, which is held at SMA Negeri 1 Sungayang with the participants being operators and administrative staff. The outcomes of this training activity are expected to be that the operators and administrative staff who manage incoming and outgoing letters at SMA Negeri 1 Sungayang understand how to operate the application, allowing the application for incoming and outgoing letters to be well operationalized at SMA Negeri 1 Sungayang later, that way the school can create and manage incoming and outgoing letters to be more effective, efficient and automated.

Abstract

According to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry's (KLHK) National Waste Management Information System data for 2022, input results from various districts and cities across Indonesia revealed that the amount of national waste stockpiled had reached 21.1 million tons. Of total national waste production, 65.71% (13.9 million tons) can be managed, while the remaining 34.29% (7.2 million tons) is not well managed. One place that produces a lot of waste is the market. Every Thursday, Nagari Balai Tangah hosts a large market, also known as Balai. This market specializes in food ingredients such as vegetables, fish, and ready-to-eat foods. This, of course, results in a buildup of organic waste each week, especially if there is no clear waste management system. For this reason, waste management is needed which aims to increase the knowledge of the people of Nagari Balai Tangah, North Lintau Buo District, Tanah Datar Regency in utilizing organic waste into environmentally friendly biological fertilizer. This activity employs a material presentation/coaching method as well as a direct demonstration of biological fertilizer production using household and market organic waste. The findings of this activity indicate that producing biofertilizer from organic waste can improve the effectiveness of waste utilization in Nagari Balai Tangah. Aside from that, this activity has the potential to create new job opportunities in the form of a biofertilizer business, which can then be used by all Nagari people of various ages. Apart from that, increasing the knowledge and ability of the people of Nagari Balai Tangah to utilize organic waste and make a positive contribution to the welfare of the people of Balai Tangah.

Abstract

A website is a crucial digital marketing tool that helps businesses provide comprehensive information and increase customer confidence. Previously, Bagoes View Cottages, a guesthouse near Maninjau Lake, relied solely on Instagram for online marketing, which led to a lack of credibility among prospective visitors. Building a professional profile website is the goal of this community service project in order to improve the cottage's online visibility and promote better marketing results. Three phases comprised the activities: planning, execution, and reporting. Coordinating with the cottage management to collect the necessary images and text was part of the preparatory phase. The team created the website and carried out a formal handover to the owner throughout the deployment phase. The finished website, which can be found at http://bagoesviewcottages.com, offers a wealth of information, including room specifications, rates, and contact data. The website has been well received and is anticipated to raise awareness and draw more guests to Bagoes View Cottages.
