Abstract

The nutrients in the food consumed play a role in determining a person's condition and nutritional status. This research aims to determine the description and relationship between the level of maternal nutritional knowledge and the feeding patterns of mothers who have stunted toddlers in Desa Sumorame Candi Sidoarjo. This research method is analytical observational with a cross sectional approach. The research subjects were 40 mothers of stunted toddlers in Sumorame Candi Sidoarjo Village. Data collection used a questionnaire with guided interviews. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test (significance ?<0.05). Data shows the percentage of mothers with high levels of knowledge about nutrition (5%), medium (27.5%), and low (67.5%) while mothers with appropriate (47.5%) and inappropriate feeding patterns (52, 5%). The chi-square statistical test results showed a relationship between the mother's level of knowledge and toddler feeding patterns (p=0.027). The research concludes that the mother's level of knowledge about nutrition influences the mother's feeding pattern for her toddler.

Abstract

Stunting is one of the main nutritional problems in Indonesia. Stunting in children can be caused by various things, one of the problems is picky eater behavior which often appear at preschool age. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between picky eater behavior and stunting in preschool children. The methods of this study used case control design, and for the sample selection used simple random sampling technique. The population of this study was all students in PG-TK Al Irsyad Surabaya and the sample for each case and control group was 15 respondents. Nutritional status was measured using the parameters height for age (H/A) and picky eater behavior using the Children's Eating Behavior Questionnaire (CEBQ). Data was analyzed using chi-square test. Most respondents have picky eater behavior and stunting (93.3%), followed by children with picky eater behavior and not stunting (53.3%). The results of statistical tests show that there is a relationship between stunting and picky eater behavior (p-value = 0.035). Additionally, children with picky eater behavior also have a bigger risk of stunting than children who were not (OR 12.250). So it could be concluded that stunting can be caused by various factors, one of which is picky eater behavior. The recommendation for parents to prevent picky eater behavior and stunting is they can try to use responsive feeding technique, so that children can develop good eating habits, and introduce a variety of foods since childhood.

Abstract

Background: Overweight in adolescents has been increasing in its prevalence every year. In 2013 the incidence of overweight was 7.3% and increased to 9.5% in 2018. The impact of being overweight on adolescents is the existence of degenerative diseases and psychological problems in adolescents, such as being ostracized from their environment because of their body shape. In tackling the overweight, WHO has created a global campaign to raise awareness of all parties from policymakers to the public to minimize the occurrence of overweight in adolescents. Indonesia has made a program to prevent and control overweight, but this program is considered ineffective because the incidence of overweight in adolescents is still increasing annually. A factor causes overweight in adolescents is high consumption of fast food. Objectives: This article was made to know whether there is a correlation of fast food intake and the incidence of adolescents overweight. Methods: Article was made as a literature review from two databases, namely Google Scholar and PubMed which had been published in the last 10 years, both national and international articles. Obtained as many as 14 articles regarding the correlation of fast food intake to overweight adolescents. Discussion: Several articles have been reviewed showing that fast food consumption is associated with an increase in Body Mass Index (BMI). The adolescents who consume fast food more often have a greater risk of being overweight than adolescents who rarely consume fast food. Types of modern fast food is the type of fast food that is most often consumed. Conclusions: Can be concluded that fast food consumption had correlation with overweight in adolescents.

Abstract

Background: The ability to remember (memory) is one of the cognitive functions which is the ability to encode, store, retain and remember information or past experiences or something that happened to the human brain. Most of this information is stored for future control of motor activity and for use in thought processing. Coffee is one of the most popular drinks by people around the world. Coffee contains many antioxidants which are believed to improve one of the cognitive functions, which is memory. In recent years several studies have shown that coffee consumption can bring health benefits by affecting many biological systems, among which it has been shown that people who drink coffee regularly have a lower risk of developing Diabetes Mellitus Type 2, colon cancer, and liver cirrhosis. Because of these benefits, coffee can now be classified as a functional food. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the benefits of coffee on the ability to remember (memory). Discussion: From several studies that had been done previously, it is known that coffee can significantly improve memory. Conclusion: Coffee contains many antioxidants that can help improving memory. It is hoped that in the future there will be more research that can explain in more detail how coffee can improve or repair cognitive functions such as memory, considering that coffee is one of the drinks that is widely consumed by people in the world and is consumed by almost everyone.

Abstract

Background: Obesity is a nutritional problem due to an imbalance in nutrient intake with nutrition needs. Many factors can influence the development of obesity, such as eating behavior and wrong eating patterns. Final year students are included in the group of early adults who are prone to experiencing academic stress which can affect their eating behavior and eating patterns. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between emotional eating and eating patterns with obesity in final year students at the Faculty of Public Health Universitas Airlangga in 2022. Methods: Case-control research design was used in the study, with a sample of 19 students in the overweight and obesity group and 19 students in the non-obese group. Samples were obtained by using a simple random sampling method. Online interviews were used as a data collection method with Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ) and Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Data were analyzed by Chi-Square statistical test. Results: The result of this study showed that there was no statistically significant relationship between emotional eating with obesity (p=0,501) and there was a statistically significant relationship between food consumption patterns with obesity (p=0,022) with OR value = 4,8, which means that students who predominantly consume obesogenic foods have a 4,8 times greater risk of obesity when compared to students who predominantly consume vegetables and fruit. Conclusions: The food consumption pattern has a significant relationship with obesity. Students should reduce their intake of obesogenic foods and increase their fiber intake, namely vegetables and fruit so as to reduce the risk of obesity.

Abstract

Hipertensi merupakan permasalahan kesehatan yang terus mengalami peningkatan dan dapat dialami berbagai usia produktif. Salah satu profesi yang berisiko mengalami hipertensi adalah guru sekolah dasar. Asupan nutrisi merupakan salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kejadian hipertensi apabila dikonsumsi dengan jumlah yang tidak sesuai. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menganalisis hubungan asupan nutrisi dengan kejadian hipertensi pada guru SDN Kelurahan Bekasi Jaya Kota Bekasi. Penelitian merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan dengan design kasus kontrol. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh guru SDN Kelurahan Bekasi Jaya Kota Bekasi dengan sampel sebanyak 46 orang yang terbagi menjadi dua kelompok yaitu kelompok kasus dan kelompok kontrol. Asupan nutrisi difokuskan pada karbohidrat, lemak, protein, dan natrium yang diambil menggunakan instrumen food recall 2x24 hours dalam seminggu terakhir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara karbohidrat, lemak, protein, dan natrium (p<0,05) dengan kejadian hipertensi pada guru SDN Kelurahan Bekasi Jaya Kota Bekasi.  Hal ini menunjukkan perlu adanya promosi atau peningkatan kesehatan bagi guru untuk meminimalisir terjadinya hipertensi pada guru SDN Kelurahan Bekasi Jaya Kota Bekasi.

Abstract

Akne vulgaris merupakan penyakit kulit jangka panjang akibat adanya penyumbatan folikel rambut oleh sel-sel kulit mati dan minyak pada kulit. Lebih dari 85% remaja di dunia mengalami akne vulgaris. Beberapa studi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara akne vulgaris dan faktor asupan nutrisi, salah satunya susu sapi. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya hubungan antara kebiasaan konsumsi susu, tipe lemak susu dengan kejadian akne vulgaris. Metode penelitian menggunakan literature review dengan sumber data berasal dari 23 penelitian primer yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Variabel yang digunakan yaitu akne vulgaris, kebiasaan konsumsi susu, frekuensi konsumsi susu, dan tipe susu. Pada umumnya, pada keseluruhan artikel menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan dari kebiasaan konsumsi susu dengan kejadian akne vulgaris. Secara umum, kebiasaan frekuensi susu ≥3 kali/minggu dapat meningkatkan faktor resiko atau tingkat keparahan akne vulgaris, begitu juga dengan susu rendah lemak atau susu skim. Simpulan, kebiasaan konsumsi susu memengaruhi kejadian akne vulgaris, frekuensi konsumsi susu juga merupakan faktor risiko yang dapat mempengaruhi akne vulgaris, namun perlu dilakukan lebih lanjut karena penelitian mengenai hubungan dari frekuensi konsumsi susu dilakukan pada berbagai negara yang berbeda-beda dengan kebiasaan konsumsi masyarakat yang juga berbeda. Kebiasaan konsumsi susu skim dan susu rendah lemak juga diketahui mempengaruhi kejadian akne vulgaris.

Abstract

Defisiensi zinc pada ibu hamil telah dikaitkan dengan berbagai kondisi pada bayi baru lahir, antara lain bayi dengan berat badan lahir rendah. Suplementasi zinc pada ibu hamil dapat meningkatkan kadar zinc serum dan vitamin A dosis tinggi dapat meningkatkan kadar retinol serum. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh suplementasi zinc pada ibu hamil KEK trimester ketiga kehamilan terhadap kadar zinc serum dan retinol serum saat nifas. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh ibu hamil trimester ketiga di lokasi penelitian. Terdapat 32 wanita hamil trimester ketiga dengan KEK berdasarkan kriteria lingkar lengan atas < 23,5 cm. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner, food recall, food frequency questionnaire, antropometri, pengambilan sampel darah, dan tes laboratorium. Sampel diambil dari populasi berdasarkan kriteria inklusi. Sampel dibagi dalam 2 kelompok dengan alokasi random. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada kadar serum zinc p = 0,000 < α (0,05) dan tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada kadar serum retinol (p = 0,624 > α (0,05) pada kelompok perlakuan. Kadar zinc serum meningkat, namun terdapat penurunan kadar retinol serum setelah suplementasi. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah suplementasi zinc dapat meningkatkan kadar zinc serum tetapi diperlukan asupan protein yang cukup untuk meningkatkan kadar retinol serum.

Abstract

Diet menjadi hal yang penting dalam proses penyembuhan penyakit demam tifoid karena bila asupan makanan kurang akan menurunkan keadaan umum dan gizi penderita sehingga proses penyembuhan akan semakin lama. Tujuan umum dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan asupan nutrisi berupa asupan protein, lemak dan karbohidrat selama perawatan dengan lama hari rawat pasien demam tifoid Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional analitik dengan desain kohort prospektif. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian adalah asupan protein, lemak dan karbohidrat, sementara variabel terikat adalah lama hari rawat pasien. Sampel penelitian sebagian pasien rawat inap demam tifoid di RSUD Dr. Moh. Soewandhie Surabaya yang telah memenuhi kriteria inklusi sebanyak 26 pasien, dengan rincian 13 pasien dengan lama hari rawat ideal (4 hari). Analisis data menggunakan uji Chi Square untuk uji hubungan antar variabel. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar pasien demam tifoid berusia 5-12 tahun, berjenis kelamin perempuan dan berstatus gizi normal. Rerata asupan nutrisi adalah energi 825,9 kkal, protein 35,3 gram, lemak 23,38 gram dan karbohidrat 103,27 gram. Uji hubungan menunjukkan bahwa asupan energi (p=0,007), protein (p=0,00) dan karbohidrat (0,03) berhubungan dengan lama hari rawat, sementara asupan lemak (p=0,3) tidak terdapat hubungan. Perlu adanya peningkatan asupan nutrisi berupa energi, protein dan karbohidrat pada pasien dengan demam tifoid untuk mempercepat proses penyembuhan sehingga mempersingkat lama hari rawat.

Abstract

Diabetes Melitus merupakan penyakit gangguan metabolisme akibat kelainan sekresi insulin, kerja insulin, dan/atau kombinasi keduanya, dengan ciri khas kadar gula yang berlebih dalam darah. Tujuan umum penelitian adalah mempelajari hubungan ketepatan diet dan kejadian obesitas dengan kadar gula darah puasa pasien Diabetes Melitus tipe 2 dengan komplikasi di Poli Penyakit Dalam Instalasi Rawat Jalan RSUD dr. Moh. Soewandhie Surabaya. Penelitian dilakukan secara survei analitik dalam studi korelasi dengan desain cross sectional. Sampel penelitian adalah pasien dengan komplikasi makrovaskuler yang dibedakan menurut kadar gula darah puasa terkontrol dan tidak terkontrol, yakni masing-masing sebanyak 25 orang secara simple random sampling. Analisis data menggunakan uji Chi-Square dengan α = 0,05. Hasil penelitian dan analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan ketepatan jadwal diet (p=0,44) dengan kadar gula darah puasa, namun terdapat hubungan antara ketepatan diet jumlah (p=0,00) dan jenis (p=0,00), serta kejadian obesitas (p=0,00) dengan kadar gula darah puasa. Perlu adanya peningkatan kualitas pola diet jumlah, jadwal, dan, jenis untuk memperoleh ketepatan diet dalam upaya kontrol kadar gula darah. Selain itu, diperlukan adanya perbaikan dan pemeliharaan berat badan diabetisi menuju berat badan ideal melalui pemantauan kegiatan olahraga dan aktivitas fisik.
