Abstract

This  systematic  literature  review  aims  to  evaluate  the neurodevelopmental, behavioral, and physiological impacts of lead (Pb) exposure in both children and occupationally exposed populations. Using the PRISMA framework, we reviewed 13 peer-reviewed studies published between 2013 and 2023. The studies include a range of methodologies- longitudinal, cross-sectional, experimental, and systematic reviews assessing lead exposure’s health effects. Databases were screened based on inclusion criteria focused on cognitive, behavioral, or physiological outcomes linked to lead levels in blood or tissues. Across studies, childhood lead exposure was consistently associated with lower intelligence scores, behavioral disorders (e.g., aggression, hyperactivity, depression), and increased risks for mental health conditions. Occupational exposure, particularly among gas station workers and forecourt attendants, was linked to chronic fatigue, sleep disturbances, and potential neurodegenerative conditions like ALS. The neurotoxic mechanisms included oxidative stress, neurotransmitter disruption, and long-term accumulation in bones. Notably, even low-level lead exposure resulted in significant adverse effects, with no safe threshold identified. These findings underline the critical need for public health interventions including environmental regulation, routine blood lead screening, protective workplace protocols, and early childhood monitoring. Prevention and awareness programs are essential to reduce lifelong harm from lead exposure, particularly in vulnerable populations.

Abstract

This study examines the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Career Planning Questionnaire (CPQ) for high school students using the Rasch Model. Data were collected via a non-random sampling survey involving 209 respondents. Analysis was conducted using Winsteps software to evaluate item quality and model fit. Results indicate that the three CPQ subscales self-knowledge, occupational knowledge, and career decision-making skills met unidimensionality criteria, with raw variance explained values of 48.1%, 42.6%, and 50.0%, respectively. Item reliability was high (0.97 for subscale A, 0.99 for B, and 0.73 for C), while person reliability was moderate (0.70, 0.42, and 0.83). Differential Item Functioning (DIF) analysis identified two gender-biased items (A16 and C20). Additionally, Mixture Rasch Model analysis revealed two latent classes, reflecting response heterogeneity among students. These findings demonstrate that the Indonesian CPQ is a valid and reliable tool for assessing high school students’ career planning, though some items require revision to enhance measurement accuracy and fairness.

Abstract

Suicide attempts are a parameter of the signs of someone wanting to suicide. One of the causes of individuals attempting suicide is psychological problems, one of which is borderline personality disorder. One intervention that can be used in dealing with suicide attempts in patients is dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Researchers found inconsistencies in the effectiveness of DBT in dealing with suicide attempts. This made the researchers test the effect size of DBT interventions on suicide attempts using the meta-analysis method, so the purpose of this study was to increase statistical power in the analysis of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) on suicide attempts. The results of this study showed that the effect of DBT intervention in dealing with suicide attempts was in the low category, -0.141. Several causes of low effect size have been explained in this study, one of which is the influence of variables outside the study that cannot be controlled (noise), thus causing a low effect size. The implication of this study is that insufficiently specific participant criteria can affect DBT interventions in dealing with suicide attempt behavior.

Abstract

Abstract—This research explores the relationship between dark triad traits, humor style, and schadenfreude. The participants in the study consisted of 302 undergraduate students ranging from early to final semesters, aged over 17 years, selected using accidental sampling technique. Measurements were conducted using the Short Dark Triad Traits Scale (SD3), the Humor Style Questionnaire (HSQ), and the Schadenfreude Scale. The results of the model test indicate that individuals with dark triad traits, particularly psychopathy, tend to adopt an aggressive humor style and experience schadenfreude. Future research is recommended to compare two population groups using direct and indirect effect analysis and bootstrapping methods. This could provide a deeper insight into the impact of dark triad traits on humor style and schadenfreude. Abstract

This study aimed to test the reliability and validity of the Indonesian-translated Body Regulation Exercise Questionnaire (BREQ-3), originally developed by Wilson et al. (2006), using Rasch analysis. A total of 408 Indonesian participants aged 18–25 years completed the survey. The results supported the unidimensionality of each BREQ-3 subscale. The 5-point Likert scale functioned adequately, except for the amotivation subscale. Both person and item reliability, as well as separation indices, were within acceptable ranges. Most items effectively measured exercise regulation, although six items were identified requiring revision. Three items, from the External and Intrinsic Regulation subscales, showed gender bias. Further analysis using the Mixture Rasch Model indicated that the identified classes were not distinguished by gender or age. Overall, the findings support the use of the Indonesian version of the BREQ-3 for assessing physical activity regulation in young adults and suggest directions for future research.

Abstract

This study evaluates the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ) using the Rasch Model and Mixture Rasch Model. A quantitative approach was used to analyze data from 253 participants obtained through a survey using a convenience sampling technique. The points analyzed are related to validity, reliability, and unidimensionality and heterogeneity of response patterns. Results indicate that the affective, continuance, and normative subscales exhibit adequate evidence of unidimensionality, with raw variance explained ranging from 44% to 46%. Reliability testing revealed high item reliability (0.97–0.98) but moderate to low person reliability (0.58–0.66), suggesting limited sensitivity of the instrument to individual variations. Differential Item Functioning (DIF) analysis identified significant bias in several items of the affective and continuance subscales based on gender and education, while the normative subscale was neutral to these demographic variables. The Mixture Rasch Model analysis revealed heterogeneity in response patterns, with the two-class latent model showing lower AIC, BIC, and CAIC values compared to the one-class model, indicating a better fit. This study demonstrates that the Indonesian version of the OCQ can be utilized to measure organizational commitment but requires item adjustments to improve measurement sensitivity and fairness

Abstract

The psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the 18-item Mental Toughness Questionnaire (MTQ-18) remain vague. This study uses the Rasch model to elucidate these properties. In addition, boosting classification was adopted to assess the predictive validity of athletes’ achievement. The sample size comprised 400 athletes. According to the Martin-Loef likelihood-ratio test = 482, p = 1.0 and factor analysis of the Rasch residuals, the questionnaire tends to make unidimensional assumptions. The MADaQ3 = 0.074 shows the overall tendency of local independency across all items, with the majority clustered in moderate to low-level measures. Q11, Q15, and Q18 were clearly identified as showing gender bias, with significant effect sizes. According to the boosting classification, the performance between national vs no achievement (F1 = 0.7, AUC = 0.56) and international vs no achievement (F1 = 0.62, AUC = 0.58) was flagged as unsatisfactory predictive performance. In conclusion, the abridged questionnaire is not preferable for determining an individual’s future performance or achievement. Future studies are needed to develop a better version that is more unimpeded by gender bias, and to resolve the variability of the items.

Abstract

Sleep is a fundamental biological process critical for cognitive function, emotional regulation, and physical health. Despite its importance, sleep disorders have become increasingly prevalent globally, contributing to reduced quality of life, impaired daily functioning, and elevated risks for chronic illnesses, for example cardiovascular disease and depression. Current treatments, such as pharmacotherapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy, also have limitations such as limited accessibility, side effects, and costs, therefore there is a need for alternative, low-risk, and accessible intervention to improve sleep quality. Music therapy, as a non-invasive and cost-effective approach, appears as a promising candidate, but requires systematic evaluation to establish its efficacy. This meta-analysis investigates the effectiveness of music therapy for individuals experiencing sleep disorders. A systematic review of prior studies was conducted; Egger’s regression test confirmed the absence of publication bias (p >0.05). Results demonstrated a large effect size (Hedge’s g =1.29), indicating that music therapy substantially enhances sleep quality. Future research should incorporate objective sleep measurements such as electroencephalography (EEG) and actigraphy, alongside subjective self-reports. Utilizing objective sleep monitoring technologies should further our knowledge regarding the mechanisms underlying music’s effects on sleep. Overall, this study reinforces viability of music therapy as an accessible and effective tool for managing sleep disorders and emphasizes the need for continued rigorous research.
