Abstract

Tomat (Lycopersicum esculentum) adalah tanaman kelompok Solanaceae yang memiliki nilai ekonomi yang tinggi. Permintaan buah tomat yang meningkat dapat menyebabkan kebutuhan bibit tomat meningkat. Produktivitas dapat ditingkatkan salah satunya dengan cara radiasi. Biji Tomat yang dibawa ke luar angkasa, dievaluasi secara fisik dengan menggunakan alat SEM. Pengamatan SEM menunjukkan bahwa pada biji luar angkasa terdapat adanya permukaan berlubang atau berpori, yang diduga akibat pengaruh radiasi kosmik. Biji tomat (L. esculentum) kontrol pada saat kering maupun basah strukturnya terlihat lebih tebal daripada biji tomat (L. esculentum) yang telah dibawa ke ruang angkasa. Perbanyakan secara konvensional (in-vivo) sulit diterapkan, antara lain karena adanya kendala serangan penyakit yang disebabkan oleh jamur, bakteri, dan virus yang dapat terbawa dalam biji. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan satu cara untuk mengatasi masalah produksi bibit yang bebas penyakit, yaitu dengan cara in vitro menggunakan kultur jaringan. Keberhasilan kultur jaringan memerlukan beberapa kondisi yang mendukung, antara lain penggunaan medium yang tepat, eksplan yang baik, kondisi aseptik, dan faktor lingkungan yang tepat. Sehingga, dilakukan optimasi untuk mendapatkan protokol in-vitro, yang dapat digunakan untuk menghasilkan bibit yang seragam. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa protokol untuk perbanyakan bibit tomat yang telah optimal adalah medium MS dengan penambahan 0,2 ppm IAA dan 2 ppm BAP. Sedangkan medium untuk perakaran adalah MS dengan penambahan 1 ppm IBA. Bibit dapat diaklimatisasi dan ditumbuhkan ex vitro dengan tingkat keberhasilan 98 %.

Abstract

Research carried out with the title of Secondary Metabolite Identification and bioactivity Fruit Extract Sumpit (Brucea javanica (L) Merr) to the shrimp larvae Artemia salina Leach. This study aims to identifying classes of secondary metabolites as well as test the bioactivity of secondary metabolites sumpit. Identifikasi fruit extracts performed to test the Chopsticks fruit extracts and fractions against reagent, while the bioactivity test was conducted using Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Data were analyzed using the method of Reed and Muench to get Lethality Concrentation value 50% (LC50). The results showed that the fruit extract Sumpit contain the alkaloid class of secondary metabolites, karatenoid, saponins, tannins, phenolic compounds, steroids, and terpenoids. Sumpit fruit bioactivity test results had LC50 values of the methanol extract of 3.10 ppm, n-hexane fraction of 2.09 ppm, 0.79 ppm ethyl acetate fraction and n-butanol fractions of 0.74 ppm.

Abstract

Air freshener gel is a semi-solid fragrance product that uses carrageenan and pectin as gel-forming components to overcome unpleasant odors when in a room with high temperatures. The purpose of this study was to determine the composition of carrageenan and pectin as gel-forming materials for air fresheners and the composition of the aroma comparison of mint oil (Mentha piperita L.) and lemon (Citrus limon (L) Burm F). The gel base was made with a ratio of carrageenan: pectin concentration of 1: 2; 1.8: 1.2; 2.5: 0.5 then the base was evaluated including organoleptic examination, stability test and gel hardness. The best base was then added with mint oil and lemon with a ratio of 1: 1.5; 1.25: 1.25; 1.5: 1 and the gel preparation was evaluated with organoleptic parameters, gel stability, gel hardness, liquid evaporation, fragrance resistance and hedonic test. The results of the study showed that the best base preparation after the evaluation of the base was a ratio of carrageenan: pectin concentration of 25: 0.5. Evaluation of the preparation with the addition of mint leaf oil (Mentha piperita L.) and lemon (Citrus limon (L) Burm F) to the base showed a value that was not too significant in the evaluation results. In the hedonic test, the formula with the addition of 2.5%: 2.5% mint leaf oil (Mentha piperita L.) and lemon (Citrus limon (L) Burm F) was the formula preferred by the panelists. So it can be concluded that the carrageenan and pectin combination room freshener gel with a concentration ratio of 2.5: 0.5% can be formulated as a base for room freshener gel preparations, namely producing a chewy and elastic gel base. The formulation of the most preferred combination of mint leaf essential oil and lemon oil as a gel fragrance is with a concentration of 2.5: 2.5%, because it produces a refreshing aroma

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the most common health disorders and its prevalence rate is increasing every year. Natural compounds can be an alternative treatment for DM. Previous re-search reports for papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) and soursop leaves (Annona muricata L.) showed activity in lowering blood glucose levels when used alone. Therefore, in this study, the two samples were combined to lower blood glucose levels. Both leaves were extracted using the decoction method. This study aims to identify secondary metabolite compounds in papaya leaf extract (Carica papaya L.) and soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata L.), then continued with determining the activity and effectiveness of lowering blood glucose levels. The results of the identification of secondary metabolite compounds showed several groups of compounds such as flavonoids, saponins and tannins. The combination of papaya leaf extract and soursop leaf extract showed a decrease in blood glucose levels. In more detail, EDPS 1:2 and EDPS 2:1 were statistically significant against negative controls. EDPS 1:2 showed the most effective percentage reduction in blood glucose levels at 22.72%

Abstract

Monkeypox merupakan penyakit infeksi zoonosis yang disebabkan oleh virus monkeypox dan telah menjadi perhatian global akibat peningkatan kasus di berbagai negara, termasuk Indonesia. Penularan monkeypox terjadi melalui kontak langsung dengan hewan atau manusia yang terinfeksi, droplet, atau penggunaan bersama alat makan. Peningkatan kesadaran masyarakat, khususnya melalui edukasi pola hidup sehat, menjadi strategi penting dalam pencegahan penyakit ini. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang monkeypox dan pentingnya pola hidup sehat sebagai upaya pencegahan. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi interaktif dan penyuluhan yang disertai evaluasi melalui pretest dan post-test kepada anggota Tim Penggerak PKK Kelurahan Rapak Dalam, Kota Samarinda. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan nilai post-test sebesar 15,63% dibandingkan nilai pretest, yang mengindikasikan peningkatan pengetahuan peserta setelah mengikuti kegiatan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa sosialisasi dan edukasi pola hidup sehat efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pencegahan monkeypox. Kesimpulannya, program ini memberikan dampak positif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta dan memperkuat kemampuan masyarakat dalam melakukan tindakan pencegahan. Edukasi seperti ini sangat penting untuk diterapkan secara luas guna memitigasi penyebaran monkeypox dan penyakit menular lainnya.

Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical country with potential plants that have been used as traditional medicine for generations. One of them is bajakah. This study aims to determine the phenolic content and antioxidant activity of yellow bajakah extract and the relationship between phenolic content and antioxidant activity. The study began with making yellow bajakah extract using maceration method. The bajakah extract obtained then analysed the phenolic content quantitatively using the Folin-Ciocalteu method. Antioxidant activity was tested using the DPPH and ABTS methods. The results showed that yellow bajakah extract contained phenolic compounds with levels of 27.15 ± 1.28 mg/g GAE. IC50 measurements to determine antioxidant activity obtained a value of 47.01 ± 1.16 µg / ml in the DPPH method and 61.21 ± 0.83 µg / ml in the ABTS method. Based on these results, yellow bajakah skin is known to have antioxidant activity with a strong category and phenolic content in yellow bajakah skin has an influence on antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Kerokot herb (Lygodium microphyllum) contains a class of compounds that function as antifungal including phenolics, alkaloids, and tannins. This study aims to determine the antifungal activity of kerokot herb ethanol extract on the growth of Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, and Malassezia furfur. The extraction method used was maceration. Antifungal activity testing used agar well diffusion with extract concentrations of 20%, 30%, and 40%, positive control (ketoconazole 2%), and negative control (DMSO 10%). The results showed that from the three extract concentrations had an average diameter of inhibitory zones respectively against Aspergillus niger was 10.24±0.21 mm, 11.26±0.19 mm, 12.24±0.21 mm, and positive control was 12.63±0.08 mm. Against Candida albicans was 10.46±0.26 mm, 12.01±0.04 mm, 13.53±0.07 mm, and positive control was 11.89±0.33 mm. Against Malassezia furfur was 6.48±0.16 mm, 8±0.39 mm, 9.45±0.39 mm, and positive control was 11.3±0.24 mm. Based on the result of this study, it can be concluded that kerokot herb ethanol extract has antifungal activity against the growth of dandruff-causing fungi. Keywords:          antifungal, Lygodium microphyllum, Malassezia furfur, Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger   Abstrak Herba kerokot (Lygodium microphyllum) memiliki kandungan golongan senyawa yang berfungsi sebagai antijamur antara lain fenolik, alkaloid, dan tanin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antijamur ekstrak etanol herba kerokot terhadap pertumbuhan Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, dan Malassezia furfur. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan adalah maserasi. Pengujian aktivitas antijamur menggunakan metode difusi agar sumuran dengan konsentrasi ekstrak 20%, 30%, dan 40%, kontrol positif (ketokonazol 2%), serta kontrol negatif (DMSO 10%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari ketiga konsentrasi ekstrak memiliki rata-rata diameter zona hambat berturut-turut terhadap Aspergillus niger sebesar 10,24±0,21 mm, 11,26±0,19 mm, 12,24±0,21 mm, dan kontrol positif sebesar 12,63±0,08 mm. Terhadap Candida albicans sebesar 10,46±0,26 mm, 12,01±0,04 mm, 13,53±0,07 mm, dan kontrol positif sebesar 11,89±0,33 mm. Terhadap Malassezia furfur sebesar 6,48±0,16 mm, 8±0,39 mm, 9,45±0,39 mm, dan kontrol positif sebesar 11,3±0,24 mm. Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol herba kerokot memiliki aktivitas antijamur terhadap pertumbuhan jamur penyebab ketombe. Abstract

Hyperglycemia is a condition where blood sugar increases significantly which can lead to diabetes mellitus. Sambung Nyawa (Gynura Procumbens) leaves are a plant that is empirically believed to reduce hyperglycemia and has been scientifically proven based on several studies, however there has been no research that provides information about sembung nyawa leaves in infusion form. This study aims to determine the content of secondary metabolites in the infusion of the leaves of Gynura Procumbens and its antihyperglycemia activity in male males. This study consisted of phytochemical and antihyperglycemia screening using a tolerance method induced by glucose monohydrate at a dose of 2g/kgBW. The test group consisted of a negative control group (Na CMC 1%), a positif group (Glibenclamide), and 3 groups of sambung nyawa leaf infusion (5%, 10%, 15%). The results of the research showed that the infusion of sembung nyawa leaves contained secondary metabolites, namely tannins, phenolics, flavonoids and saponins. The effect of reducing blood sugar levels in test animals showed a significant reduction (0.00<0.05) at a 10% concentration infusion compared to the negative control and not significant to the positive control. The conclusion shows that the infusion of sambung nyawa leaves has an antihyperglycemic effect. Keywords:          Antihyperglycemic, Sambung Nyawa Leaves, Glucose Monohydrate   Abstrak Hiperglikemia merupakan kondisi peningkatan gula darah yang cukup signifikan yang akan berubah menjadi kondisi diabetes mellitus. Daun sambung nyawa (Gynura Procumbens) merupakan tumbuhan yang dipercaya secara empiris menurunkan hiperglikemia dan terbukti secara ilmiah berdasarkan beberapa penelitian dalam bentuk ekstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kandungan metabolit sekunder pada infusa daun sambung nyawa dan aktivitas antihiperglikemia pada mencit jantan. Penelitian ini terdiri dari skrining fitokimia dan antihiperglikemia menggunakan metode toleransi yang dinduksi glukosa monohidrat dengan dosis 2g/kgBB. Kelompok uji terdiri dari kelompok kontrol negatif (Na CMC 1%), positif (Glibenklamid), dan 3 kelompok infusa daun sembung nyawa (5%, 10%, 15%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan infusa daun sambung nyawa mengandung metabolit sekunder yaitu tanin, fenolik, flavonoid dan saponin. Efek penurunan kadar gula darah pada hewan uji menunjukkan penurunan yang signifikan (0,00<0,05) pada infusa konsentrasi 10% dibandingkan dengan kontrol negatif dan tidak signifikan terhadap kontrol positif. Kesimpulan menunjukkan bahwa infusa daun sambung nyawa mempunyai efek antihiperglikemia. Kata Kunci:         Antihiperglikemia, Daun Sambung Nyawa, Glukosa Monohidrat

Abstract

Kersen (Muntingia calabura Linn.) is a plant with a large population in Indonesia. Thus, the abundance of this number can be used as a source of raw materials for medicine. Kersen has many benefits, especially in the leaves as an antibacterial. The purpose of this study was to determine the extract yield, compound groups, and antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhi and Staphylococcus aureus. Antibacterial activity was measured using the well method and TLC Bioautography. The results showed an extract yield of 19.77%. The TLC profile identified flavonoid, alkaloid, tannin, and steroid compound groups. Kersen leaf extract showed antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhi and Staphylococcus aureus with moderate to strong antibacterial power at concentrations of 40%, 50%, and 60%. The groups of compounds suspected of playing a role in antibacterial activity are flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and steroids. This study shows that kersen leaf extract has the potential as an antibacterial agent against Salmonella typhi and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.

Abstract

Bunga telang (Clitoria ternatea) dikenal sebagai tanaman obat yang mengandung antosianin dengan potensi sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan merumuskan dan mengevaluasi sediaan toner berbahan dasar ekstrak bunga telang sebagai antioksidan untuk perawatan kulit. Ekstrak diperoleh melalui maserasi menggunakan etanol 70%, kemudian diuji kandungan metabolit sekunder serta aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH. Toner diformulasikan menggunakan basis gliserin 5% dan dievaluasi melalui uji organoleptik, pH, stabilitas, dan aktivitas antioksidan selama empat siklus suhu. Hasil menunjukkan rendemen ekstrak sebesar 7,88% dengan kandungan alkaloid, flavonoid, terpenoid, dan tanin. Aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak tergolong kuat dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 67,73 ppm dan persen peredaman tertinggi 30,603% pada konsentrasi 90 ppm. Toner dengan formula basis gliserin 5% memenuhi kriteria organoleptik dan menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi sebesar 25,145% pada suhu 4?, meskipun nilai pH sediaan belum seluruhnya berada dalam rentang ideal.
