Abstract

Background: Cardiovascular disease has been found in young people because of the unhealthy lifestyle that is lived by many younger people. Packed activities, social life, and students’ assiduity affect their lifestyle. Each student lives a different lifestyle depending on their motivation, therefore it’s necessary to do research in order to investigate students’ lifestyles, consist of smoking behavior, eating behavior, and physical activity, using the Protection Motivation Theory, which consists of perceived vulnerability and severity of cardiovascular disease, response efficacy, and self-efficacy of healthy behavior. This research aimed to ascertain students’ healthy lifestyle as protection against cardiovascular disease. Methods: The research was done using the qualitative method with a phenomenology approach. The data were gathered by doing comprehensive interviews with 14 informants in a purposive way with maximum variation sampling, at four universities in Yogyakarta Province. The research was conducted from May to July 2015. Results: The results indicated that students have yet lived healthily due to some common habits such as smoking, unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, and other discoveries such as coffee and alcohol consumption. The attempt of protection against cardiovascular disease wasn’t habitually done yet by students because of their young age and their customary thought that cardiovascular disease mostly happens to elderly people. Students haven’t been aware yet that they are not resistant to cardiovascular disease. One of the reasons was how insufficient the student’s awareness was when it comes to cardiovascular disease. Their perception of the disease severity was adequate due to the fact that they have seen directly the consequences that were caused by cardiovascular disease. The students’ response efficacy and self-efficacy in doing a healthy lifestyle were also considered low because the access to make a healthy lifestyle was still less. Conclusion: The student's awareness of the cardiovascular disease was still low. Among the four parts of Protection Motivation Theory, the part on severity perception was quite decent due to the fact that they had seen directly the consequences that were caused by cardiovascular disease. Each university needs to provide health care services in order to promote a healthy lifestyle, particularly among students.

Abstract

Stunting case in Indonesia is still high, so the provision of complete health information for toddler health is extremely needed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study aims to design a health information service online by using WhatsApp to prevent toddler stunting in the rural community. This study was action research in which a co-design methodology was used to design the health information service. This study involved the health front, midwifery, nutritionist, and village apparatus in which they were interviewed and followed focus group discussion (FGD). In addition, the USE questionnaire was used to measure the effectiveness of the health information service that had been designed. The results of the interview and FGD showed that rural people knew more about the use of WhatsApp than other online communication platforms. In addition, during the COVID-19 pandemic, there were a number of health programs that would be stopped. As a consequence, online interactive health information service was extremely needed to promote the sustainability of health programs in the rural community. Furthermore, the results of the USE questionnaire showed the average percentage of usefulness, ease of use, ease of learning, and satisfaction of the online health information service was 85,43%. This indicates that the hotline stunting program (INSTING), an online health information service, is extremely eligible to be applied in the rural community in conducting communication regarding health information during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Abstract

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT IN THE PREPARATION OF TOGA UTILIZATION AND PLANTING PROGRAMS. The community of the RT 29 area have a tendency to use traditional medicine, especially herb and spice plants. However, the local community is still processing spice plants empirically and there is no management of the Family Medicine Garden (TOGA) in the area around the community settlements. The purpose of this community empowerment is to enable the community of RT 29 Sidodamai Village in the proper use of herb and spice plants as traditional medicine through education, the establishment of a TOGA cadre communication forum, and the preparation of a follow-up plan for TOGA planting. The implementation of activities in community empowerment uses the Participatory Rural Action (PRA) method which is carried out in 6 stages, i.e. community introduction, problem introduction, problem awareness, program implementation and program evaluation. The programs carried out included discussions, health education, mentoring TOGA cadres and the preparation of follow-up plans in the form of planting TOGA in RT 29. The results of this series of activities were that there was knowledge after being given health education material on the use of herb and spice plants, the existence of a communication forum for TOGA cadres with the Puskesmas Sidomulyo in planning the follow-up plan, and the independence of the community in carrying out the preparation for TOGA planting activities according to the planned schedule.

Abstract

Abstract

According to the WHO, Asia has the highest number of soil-transmitted helminth infections (STH), including Indonesia included. Children between the ages of 1 and 12 in Indonesia have the highest worm infection rates. Children's health is impacted by the frequent disregard for clean and healthy behavior (PHBS) in educational settings. The implications of not doing PHBS include the spread of infectious illnesses, including helminthiasis and diarrhea. Students at this institution are believed to have poor hygiene habits and unhealthy lifestyle choices, which increases their chance of contracting infectious disorders like helminthiasis. The development of PHBS in enhancing student health should be done through School’s Health Clinic (UKS). The COVID-19 pandemic has stopped almost all schooling activities, including the implementation of UKS. It is necessary to make efforts to renew UKS by delivering health education regarding PHBS in order to prevent infectious diseases in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The PRECEDE-PROCEED framework is used to carry out community service, beginning with identifying and assessing issues within the PRECEDE framework, collaborating with schools and health facilities to identify problem-solving programs, and then completing the service. In order to improve their knowledge of PHBS in avoiding worms, health education is carried out via the lecture technique and the use of leaflet media. In December 2022, the exercise was conducted with third-grade students from elementary school. using a 10-question pretest and posttest to compare the effectiveness of health education activities. The average score on the pretest was 73.85, and the average score on the posttest was 93.1, indicating an enhancement in the students' knowledge of PHBS. UKS, which was inactive during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been revived through attempts to form “dokter kecil” once more in addition to health education as a follow-up strategy for this community service activity.

Abstract

Abstract

The problem found in Posyandu Pudak Wangi, Lok Bahu Village, Sungai Kunjang Subdistrict, Samarinda, is the lack of cadre skills in taking anthropometric measurements. To overcome this problem, an intervention was designed in the form of anthropometric measurement training that focused on measuring body weight, height, upper arm circumference (LILA), and head circumference. The anthropometric measurement training aims to improve the skills of cadres in measuring body weight, height, upper arm circumference (LILA), and head circumference. This empowerment activity involves two main programs, namely anthropometric measurement training for cadres and making anthropometric measurement modules by cadres. The partners of this activity were seven cadres of Posyandu Pudak Wangi. Evaluation was carried out using direct observation and assessment methods to measure changes in cadres' knowledge and skills. The result of this activity was an increase in cadres' knowledge and skills related to anthropometric measurements, followed by the creation of modules as practice guidelines. This intervention is expected to contribute to improving maternal and child health services at Posyandu.

Abstract

School age is one of the community groups that is a priority for the national health program. Various health problems of school-age children are a concern of parents.  To deal with their school age children's condition, parents require a variety of health issues solutions. Parents commonly prefer to seek for information on their gadgets by using the internet. These many concerns, problems, and issues that parents have about their children's health have motivated an in-depth exploration of parents' digital literacy skills in tracing information. This study aims to determine the frequency with which parents of school-aged children track health information and investigate the issue that 109 parents of school-aged children are interested in based on health issues in East Kalimantan. The sample was chosen using an accidental sampling technique. In this study, a simple questionnaire with closed and open questions was used as a survey method. A univariate and bivariate test were performed to process data on frequency with which parents seek health problems as well as its relationship to respondent characteristics, the Spearman rank test was used. The result is health information about screen time risk was most frequently accessed by parents, but compared to other issues, the nutrition issue is significantly deeper. It will be necessary to develop interventions like health promotion programs that parents will utilize in improving their health literacy, especially about children’s health in the school
