Abstract

In this study, 3D porous multicomponent bioceramic scaffolds were fabricated. Hydroxyapatite (HA) and carbonate-substituted hydroxyapatite (CHA) synthesized from Asian moon scallop shell (Amusium pleuronectes) served as the bioceramics, whereas alginate and chitosan served as the polymeric components. The study was focused on determining whether the presence of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) in the scaffold exerted an impact. When PVA was not included, the morphological examination revealed that the samples exhibited porous structures characterized by effective pore interconnectivity and a substantial pore size. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopic analyses indicated that the inclusion of PVA led to a decrease in the crystallinity, pore size, and porosity of the scaffolds. Those containing PVA exhibited porosity levels in the range of 56%–60%, and pore sizes ranged from 42 to 90 µm. These properties may provide advantages for the scaffold with respect to the ability for cell migration and cell attachment, thus enhancing new bone formation. Moreover, the compositions of HA and chemically modified HA (CHA) within the scaffold influenced the crystallinity and uniformity of the scaffold morphology. This finding suggests the potential for crafting a customized porous bioceramic scaffold based on specific compositions.

Abstract

Kota Malang merupakan wilayah strategis dan perkembangan wilayahnya sangat pesat. Perkembangan wilayah Kota Malang harus di imbangi dengan desain perencanaan pembangunan dan lingkungan, sehingga dapat menjadi daya tarik wilayah, memperlancar pelaksanaan tugas di bidang pemerintahan dan peningkatan pelayanan masyarakat.Penelitian ini bertujuan sebagai kajian Rencana Tata Bangunan Lingkungan (RTBL) pada sub Bagian Wilayah Perencanaan (BWP) Malang Tengah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan mixed method dengan pendekatan kualititatif dan kuantitatif. Pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan untuk analisis indikator kajian RTBL berupa prospek pertumbuhan ekonomi, daya dukung fisik lingkungan, daya dukung prasarana dan fasilitas lingkungan, dan analisis mikro kawasan. Pendekatan kualitatif digunakan untuk analisis kawasan makro Kota Malang. Hasil kajian RTBL Sub BWP Malang Tengah didasarkan atas beberapa analisis, meliputi analisis kawasan makro yang meliputi sejarah arsitektur Kota Malang, prospek pertumbuhan ekonomi, daya dukung fisik dan lingkungan, daya dukung prasarana dan fasilitas lingkungan. Analisis kawasan mikro meliputi analisis kesesuaian dan kelayakan lahan, penggunaan lahan, analisis lahan makro, dan analisis koofisien bangunan. Masing-masing analisis yang digunakan memberikan penilaian mengenai penyusunan RTBL BWP Malang Tengah.

Abstract

Background: Chitosan is a natural polymer that is widely used in pharmaceutical applications owing to its biodegradability and biocompatibility. High molecular weight chitosan, which is commonly found in the market (Sigma Aldrich), is acid soluble and thus limits its application for ocular purposes. Objective: This study aimed to improve the characteristics of high-MW chitosan ocular films by utilizing a water-soluble, low-MW chitosan modifier for the delivery of ofloxacin post-surgery. Methods: Various film formulas were prepared using high-MW chitosan as the main polymer matrix, glycerin and polyethylene glycol 400 as plasticizers, and low-MW chitosan as film modifiers. Glycerine was the best plasticizer that produced a good film appearance when added at an appropriate ratio, 8.33 times the weight of the high MW chitosan (TGc) and 6.25 times the weight of low- and high-MW chitosan blends at (1:1) ratio (MGb). The films were further developed as TGcs and MGbs were cross-linked using sodium tripolyphosphate to control the release of ofloxacin and improve its mechanical characteristics. Water absorption capability, mechanical characteristics, in vitro drug release, and antimicrobial activity were evaluated to determine the film formula. Results: The MGb formula showed the highest water absorption (approximately 230 %), while the lowest was shown by the TGcs formula (approximately 145 %). In contrast, the TGcs formula had the highest film elasticity (141.33±8.81%), and the MGb formula had the lowest (42.55±6.11%). Surprisingly, the best controlled release of ofloxacin for up to 24 h was produced by the MGbs film, which also showed the highest antimicrobial activity. MGbs also showed moderate film characteristics, which are suitable for ocular applications. Conclusion: The research concluded that The addition of water-soluble low-MW chitosan and a cross-linker agent can improve the controlled release and characteristics of chitosan-based ocular films.

Abstract

Penghantaran senyawa hidrofilik secara transkutan memiliki keterbatasan karena permeabilitas rendah sehingga sulit dalam menembus lapisan stratum corneum (SC). Natrium askorbil fosfat (NAF) merupakan salah satu senyawa turunan vitamin C yang sangat hidrofil dan permeabilitas rendah terhadap lapisan kulit. Sebagaimana vitamin C, NAF dapat berfungsi sebagai antioksidan juga memiliki aktivitas sebagai antikerut karena dapat memicu pertumbuhan kolagen pada fibroblast. NAF dibuat dalam nanoemulsi, karena sediaan dengan ukuran globul yang kecil diharapkan dapat menembus lapisan SC dan membawa zat aktif berpenetrasi ke dalam lapisan kulit. Optimasi formulasi nanoemulsi dilakukan melalui pendekatan statistik design of experiment (DoE) yang terdiri dari desain faktorial dan respon surface methods (RSM hingga diperoleh hasil yang lebih efektif dan efisien. Komposisi minyak (VCO), surfaktan (Tween 80), ko surfaktan (PEG 400) dan proses pengadukan (waktu dan kecepatan) merupakan faktor yang berperan dalam optimasi formulasi. Penentuan faktor tersebut melalui desain eksperimen 2 level factorial dan dilanjutkan dengan metode Box Behnken menggunakan perangkat lunak Minitab 17. Parameter yang diamati adalah ukuran globul dan indeks polidispersitas. Berdasarkan hasil optimasi diperoleh nilai VCO 10% dan kombinasi surfaktan 24%, waktu dan kecepatan pengadukan 5 menit, 200 rpm memberikan ukuran globul ±180 nm dan indeks polidispersitas dibawah 0,5.

Abstract

Free radicals are molecules with one or more unpaired electrons, which makes them very labile and reactive. They are important in tissue damage and pathological processes in living organisms. Endogenous sources of free radicals are metabolic waste, such as combustion processes in the body, proteins, carbohydrates, and fats that we consume, and exogenous ones that come from air pollution, vehicle exhaust, and various chemicals and ultraviolet rays. 1, 2 An increase in free radicals can cause oxidative stress, resulting in oxidative damage from the cellular tissue to organ levels that will accelerate aging and cause various disease pathogenesis. 3 To reduce the impact of oxidative stress, adequate antioxidants are needed, which can be obtained from the body through enzymes or natural antioxidant intake. 4 One source of natural antioxidants comes from the leaves of purple sweet potato plants (Ipomea batatas L), which contain chemical compounds such as beta-carotene, bioflavonoids, catechins, and polyphenols that can ward off free radicals, improve oxidative stress conditions so that they are beneficial for maintaining health.

Abstract

Deadlift is a resistance training exercise commonly used to enhance muscle strength, but improper technique can increase the risk of musculoskeletal pain. This study aimed to analyze the distribution and intensity of musculoskeletal pain in recreational deadlift users using a cross-sectional design. A total of 42 respondents from two gym communities in Palembang were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that 48.9% of respondents had poor posture during deadlift, and the majority (66.7%) lifted heavy loads (≥70% of 1RM). Musculoskeletal pain was most frequently reported in the lower back (85.3%), followed by the glutes (8.8%) and the right shoulder (5.9%). Most respondents experienced mild pain (37.8%) or no pain at all (37.8%), while moderate pain was reported by 24.4% of respondents. No cases of severe pain were recorded. These findings indicate that although deadlift can cause musculoskeletal discomfort, the pain intensity is generally tolerable.

Abstract

Kecombrang (Etlingera elatior) is one of the native plants of Indonesia.E.elatioris used as a condiment, food, medicine, and ornament. The antioxidant properties of rhizomes, leaves, and flowers ofE.elatiorhas not been reported. This study aimed to explore the antioxidant capacity of the rhizome, leaves, and flowers ofE.elatiorin extracts and fractions. The rhizome, leaves, and flower ofE.elatiorwere macerated by ethanol 96% to generate crude extract. The crude extract was fractionated by n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol 96% to generate n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol fraction. The total phenolic compound was determined spectrophotometrically using the follin-ciocalteau color complex. The antioxidant effect of extracts and fractions ofE.elatiorwas evaluated using DPPH scavenging activity. The largest total phenolic compound ofE.elatiorwas in the ethanolic fraction of flower (298.47mgGAE/100g), and the lowest was in a crude extract of rhizome (61.80mgGAE/100g). The very strong antioxidant capacity (IC50value <50ppm) was in crude extract, n-hexane fraction of rhizome, and an ethanolic fraction of leaves. The strong antioxidant capacity (IC50value: 50-100 ppm) was crude extract and all fractions of flower; ethyl acetate and an ethanolic fraction of rhizome; crude extract, n-hexane, and ethyl acetate fraction of leaf.The conclusion of this study is that, depending on the type of solvent, the type of antioxidant compounds being extracted and antioxidant capacity also vary.

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Obat tradisional adalah bahan atau ramuan yang berupa bahan tumbuhan, bahan hewan, bahan mineral, sediaan sarian, (galenik) atau campuran dari bahan tersebut yang secara turun temurun telah digunakan untuk pengobatan dan dapat diterapkan sesuai dengan norma yang berlaku di masyarakat. Pengobatan dengan bahan alami merupakan salah satu terapi atau pengobatan komplementer yang potensial untuk menyembuhkan penyakit atau menjaga kesehatan. Tujuan : Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui gambaran penggunaan obat tradisional untuk pengobatan diare di pedukuhan krinjing lor, jatisarono, nanggulan. Metode : Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif non eksperimental dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu masyarakat pedukuhan krinjing lor sebanyak 340 responden. Bahan yang digunakan untuk pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner, alat tulis. Populasi yang digunakan dengan rumus slovin dihasilkan 85 responden, pengolahan dengan menggunakan Microsoft Excel kemudian hasil penelitian dimasukkan dalam tabel. Hasil : Hasil penelitian berupa karakteristik responden rata-rata umur 42-49 (22,35%) dengan jenis kelamin perempuan (55,3%) status sudah menikah (82,35%) pendidikan SMA (42,35%) dengan pekerjaan sebagai petani (34,12%). Penelitian ini menunjukan responden yang menggunakan obat tradisional daun jambu biji untuk pengobatan diare (59,77%), diperolehdari halaman rumah/lingkungan sekitar (70,11%), dan penggunaan dengan dimakan langsung (49,41%). Motivasi penggunaan obat tradisional untuk pengobatan diare cocok dan merasa sembuh (42,42%) dan sudah cocok dengan obat tradisional (60,44%). Hambatan menggunakan obat tradisional untuk pengobatan diare yaitu tidak langsung sembuh (51,72%) dan tidak ada hambatan untuk memperoleh obat tradisional untuk pengobatan diare (58,14%). Kesimpulan : Penggunaan daun jambu biji untuk pengobatan diare (59,77%) diperoleh dihalaman rumah (70,11) dengan cara dimakan langsung (49,41%).

Abstract

Bromo acid dye (Red 21) recently gained attention in the production of color-changing cosmetics. The critical aspect in the development of cosmetic products using this dye group is the compatibility of its oil vehicles. The compatibility of bromo acid dyes with oil vehicles is determined by several parameters such as the dye solubility in the oils, clarity of the mixture, and the ability to change color when the pH of the solution is adjusted to match the skin’s pH. Therefore, this study conducted the compatibility study by examining the ability of 27 oil samples to dissolve Red 21. The ability of a vehicle to dissolve a compound is influenced by the polarity of the vehicle. Hence, a correlation was established between the relative polarity of oils and their ability to dissolve Red 21. The results showed that the water-oil interfacial tension was negatively correlated (r = -0.64) with Red 21 solubility in the oil. From this research, the water-oil interfacial tension represented the relative polarity of the oil and was considered sufficient to predict the compatibility of the oil with Red 21. In addition, hydrocarbon and silicone oils are not compatible with Red 21.

Abstract

Santri merupakan kelompok yang berisiko tinggi mengalami keluhan muskuloskeletal akibat kebiasaan duduk statis dan postur tubuh yang tidak ergonomis selama belajar dan menghafal Al-Qur’an. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan santri mengenai postur duduk yang sehat dan pencegahan nyeri muskuloskeletal melalui edukasi ergonomis. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi penyuluhan interaktif ​menggunakan media booklet, video pendek, serta peragaan langsung teknik duduk ergonomis dan peregangan ringan bersama santri dan guru. Program ini diikuti oleh 82 peserta dari SMA IT Izzudin Palembang. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan, terutama pada aspek pemahaman tentang dampak keluhan muskuloskeletal (97,6%) dan gerakan peregangan (93,9%). Kegiatan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman santri mengenai pentingnya postur ergonomis, serta diharapkan menjadi langkah awal untuk penerapan perilaku duduk sehat di lingkungan pesantren.​
