Abstract

This research explores how students' social values have changed in the digital age by incorporating insights from educational sociology and Islamic moral principles. The concern arises from the increasing influence of online interactions, which modifies students' social conduct and disrupts the traditional ways in which values have been instilled by families, schools, and religious teachings. Through a qualitative, literaturebased method, the study reviews academic works related to digitalization, youth development, and Islamic ethical progress. The results indicate that online communication diminishes in-person interactions, fosters a focus on individuality, and promotes immediate gratification, leading to a reduced awareness of social norms. Educational institutions are becoming less effective as main socializing agents since digital platforms are taking control of students' activities, focus, and social influences. Nevertheless, organizations with strong moral foundations, particularly Islamic boarding schools, show more consistency in steering students' moral conduct because of their established routines, reinforcement of values, and community discipline. The analysis emphasizes that addressing the changes in values brought about by the digital era necessitates bolstering moral education, improving institutional roles, and ensuring that students' online behaviors align with Islamic moral standards.

Abstract

Abstract

Schools as formal educational institutions have a strategic function in shaping children's character through the socialization of moral values and behavioral screening, which emphasizes the holistic internalization of Islamic values. This study uses a conceptual approach to analyze how schools play a role in shaping character, assessing students' moral behavior, and working with families as educational partners. The results of the study show that the integration of Islamic value-based character education, the moral evaluation process by teachers, and family involvement in reinforcing values at home creates a comprehensive moral ecosystem. Schools become arenas for moral learning experiences, where children learn to evaluate their own actions, understand social consequences, and consistently internalize ethical values. This entire process prepares children to become individuals who are not only academically intelligent, but also morally mature, socially responsible, and highly spiritually aware. These findings emphasize the importance of synergy between schools, teachers, and families to support the formation of sustainable Islamic character

Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in enhancing intellectual abilities and shaping individuals to become more capable and accomplished. However, the current education system is considered to be too focused on cognitive aspects while neglecting the development of students’ character and moral values, which has led to various social issues. In this regard, the sociology of education emerges as an effort to understand the relationship between education and society, as well as how social, cultural, economic, and historical factors influence the development of students’ character. This study employs a literature review method by examining various written sources such as books, academic journals, and relevant research reports. The findings indicate that the sociology of education plays a significant role in shaping students’ character through the understanding of existing social values, norms, and ethics. Through the theories of functionalism, conflict, and symbolic interactionism, the sociology of education contributes to explaining the role of education in society and how social interactions within the school environment can strengthen the development of positive character. Moreover, teachers as social agents in schools—including principals, homeroom teachers, and special education assistants—have a strategic role in creating an inclusive, adaptive, and character-oriented educational atmosphere. Thus, the sociology of education is not only an academic field but also serves as a tool to shape individuals who are ethical, empathetic, and capable of contributing positively to society.

Abstract

Education plays a strategic role as an agent of social mobility in modern society. From an Indonesian sociological perspective, education serves as the primary means of transmitting the values, skills, and competencies needed in an increasingly complex social structure, as argued by Soerjono Soekanto. By expanding access to education, improving the quality of learning, and adapting the curriculum to the demands of the job market, education can open up opportunities for individuals to improve their socioeconomic status. Indonesian educational literature, emphasizes that educational institutions not only shape character but also serve as a meritocratic mechanism that enables vertical social mobility. However, the challenges of the modern era including unequal access, the digital divide, and the mismatch between graduate competencies and industry needs still limit the optimization of education as a driver of social mobility. Therefore, comprehensive educational reform is needed through equalizing quality, strengthening technological innovation, and collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and the industrial world. With these steps, education can play a more effective role in realizing a more equitable social structure and more inclusive social mobility.

Abstract

Sociology of education is a field that examines the relationship between education and social life in society, focusing on how educational processes shape students’ character and social behavior. Schools function not only as places to acquire academic knowledge but also as social environments where students learn to interact, cooperate, respect differences, and develop social responsibility. This study aims to understand the role of sociology of education in shaping students’ social awareness within the school context, particularly in fostering empathy, cooperation, and social responsibility. A qualitative research approach was used to explore how learning sociology of education influences students’ attitudes and behaviors. The findings indicate that sociology of education plays an important role in developing students’ social awareness. Through this learning process, students gain a better understanding of social values, norms, and appropriate behavior in society. Teachers and schools contribute significantly by providing role models, building positive habits, and organizing activities that encourage caring attitudes toward others. As a result, schools become spaces not only for intellectual development but also for character formation. Observations at Misalova School show that students demonstrate increased social concern, such as collecting donations and visiting sick friends, providing assistance when school members experience disasters, and actively participating in social activities. In addition, students help one another in learning processes and cooperate in group activities without discrimination. Overall, learning sociology of education helps students develop social awareness, respect diversity, and contribute positively to their school and community environments.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Unmarried pregnancy in Indonesia remains closely associated with gendered moral norms and social stigma, which may limit women’s access to equitable maternal health services. Digital platforms such as YouTube function as public arenas where these norms are reproduced, contested, and potentially influence informal policy environments. Purpose: This study aims to analyze digital public sentiment toward unmarried pregnant women and to examine its implications for gender-responsive and intersectional maternal health policy in Indonesia. Methods: A qualitative descriptive study was conducted using content analysis of publicly available YouTube comments posted between January 2024 and 2026. Comments from highly engaged videos discussing unmarried pregnancy were anonymized and categorized into negative, positive, and neutral sentiment groups. Descriptive statistics were used to present proportional distributions. Results: Negative sentiment dominated the discourse (47.25%), followed by positive sentiment (39.32%) and neutral sentiment (13.44%). Although moral judgment and stigma remain prominent, a substantial proportion of comments express empathy and support. Conclusions: Digital public sentiment reflects persistent gender stigma surrounding unmarried pregnancy, alongside emerging supportive narratives. Integrating intersectional and rights-based approaches aligned with WHO recommendations is essential to strengthen inclusive maternal health policy and ensure equitable access to care for all women, regardless of marital status.

Abstract

The development of digital technology in the modern era has brought significant changes to the way humans interact, especially among the younger generation. The emergence of a culture of digital individualism has made social relationships increasingly shallow, with virtual connectivity often replacing genuine emotional closeness. In this context, Islamic education plays a crucial role in instilling empathy and building social awareness based on Islamic moral and spiritual teachings. This study aims to examine how Islamic educational institutions contribute to fostering empathy amidst the increasingly strong tide of digital individualism. The study employed qualitative methods with a desk study approach, drawing on relevant literature on Islamic education, educational sociology, and character education from the past five years. The results indicate that Islamic education serves not only to transfer knowledge but also as a means of internalizing humanitarian values such as compassion (rahmah), social responsibility, and justice ('adl). Through the integration of Islamic values into the curriculum, school culture, and teacher role models, educational institutions can strengthen students' empathy and social solidarity. In conclusion, Islamic education plays a vital role as a moral and social bulwark against the impacts of digital individualism, thereby producing a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent but also possesses social and spiritual sensitivity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between parents’ socioeconomic status and students’ academic achievement through a library research approach. Parents’ socioeconomic status in this study includes educational level, occupation, and income, which indirectly influence learning opportunities, access to educational resources, and the quality of educational support received by students. The research method was conducted by reviewing and synthesizing various relevant literature sources, including academic books, national and international journal articles, and previous research findings related to the topic. The results of the literature analysis indicate that students from families with higher socioeconomic status tend to achieve better academic performance due to the availability of adequate learning facilities, a supportive academic environment, and positive emotional and academic support from parents. However, the findings also reveal that socioeconomic status is not the sole determinant of academic achievement. Non-economic factors such as students’ intrinsic learning motivation, teacher support, school quality, and a positive social environment play a significant role in enabling students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to attain high academic performance. Therefore, it can be concluded that parents’ socioeconomic status has an influence on students’ academic achievement, but this influence is not deterministic. This study recommends that educational policies should focus on equalizing learning opportunities through scholarship programs, improving teacher competence, and strengthening collaboration among schools, families, and communities to support students’ academic success.
