Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada atau tidak perbedaan dari tipe kompleksitas tugas yang dapat menghasilkan kuantitas dari berbicara dan untuk mencari apakah ada atau tidak perbedaan dari tipe tugas kompleksitas yang dapat menghasilkan negosiasi makna. Satu kelompok mengulangi tindakan perancangan yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini. Subjek penelitian adalah 30 siswa IAIN Raden Intan Lampung. Peneliti menggunakan tugas berbicara sebagai alat ukur dalam penelitian. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik antara jenis kompleksitas tugas dan kuantitas interaksi. Perbedaan signifikan dianalisis dalam hal kuantitas interaksi siswa; jumlah berbicara, giliran berbicara dan jumlah c-unit. Selanjutnya, tugas yang dirancang khusus berdasarkan pengetahuan dan perencanaan sebelumnya memicu siswa untuk menghasilkan negosiasi arti yang paling banyak.The purpose of this study is to find out whether or not different types of task complexity produce quantity of interaction and to find out whether or not different types of task complexity produce negotiation of meaning. One group repeated measures design was carried out in this research. The subjects of the research were 30 students of IAIN Raden Intan Lampung. The researcher used speaking test as the instruments of this research. The speaking test contained of simple and complex of task complexity which had been distributed to the students. The result of analysis shows that there is a statistically significant differences between types of task complexity and the quantity of interaction. The significant differences were analyzed in terms of students interaction quantity; they are length time, turns taken and the number of c- unit. Furthermore, the task which was specifically designed on the basis of prior knowledge and planning triggered the students to produce the most negotiation of meaning.Keywords: Negotiation of meaning, quantity of interaction, task complexity.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan bagaimana bermain peran meningkatkan partisipasi siswa dalam latihan berbicara dan masalah apa saja yang muncul dalam penerapan bermain peran di tingkat kedua di SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar Lampung tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Data yang didapat berupa hasil observasi, rekaman video, dan jawaban siswa pada kuisioner. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bermain peran meningkatkan participasi siswa dalam latihan berbicara dengan memperkenalkan kata kunci baru kepada siswa, mendorong siswa berlatih melafalkan ungkapan yang dipelajari, mendorong siswa untuk membuat dan mempraktikkan percakapan mereka sendiri, mendorong siswa untuk bermain peran di depan kelas. Selain itu, masalah yang muncul selama penerapan bermain peran adalah kontrol kelas, memakan waktu, dan perbedaan menonjol antara siswa berprestasi dan kurang berprestasi.The aim of the research was to find out how role play improve students participation to practice speaking and what problems occurred during the implementation of role play at the second grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar Lampung at academic year 2014/2015. The data were observation result, video recording and students answer to the questionnaire. The result of the research showed that role play improved students participation in practice speaking through introducing key words to the students, encouraging the students to practice pronouncing the target speech function, encouraging the students to make and practice their own dialog, and encouraging the students to perform their own dialog (role playing) in front of the class. Besides that, problems occurred during the implementation of role play were class control, time consuming, and gap between superior and inferior students.Keywords: role play, students participation, speaking

Abstract

The aims of this research were to find out whether there was a significant difference on students’ speaking achievement and students’ confidence after the implementation of Blended Learning. This research was a quantitative with one group pre-test and post-test design. Speaking test and questionnaire of students’ confidence were used to collect the data. The subjects were 32 students of class XI Science 4 of SMAN 2 Bandar Lampung. The data of speaking test were analyzed by using Paired Samples T-test. The questionnaire was in form of scores and analyzed by using Cronbach’s Alpha. The results show that there was a significant difference on students’ speaking achievement and improvement of students’ confidence. This suggests that Blended Learning can influence the students to improve their confidence in speaking achievement.Keywords: Blended learning, confidence, speaking achievement.

Abstract

The purposes of the qualitative research were to find out the significant difference of students’ speaking ability between students who are taught through information gap task in pair and small group work and to determine which pattern is better in getting students to talk at second grade of SMAN 1 Seputih Raman. The study focused on pattern that is used in information gap task. The participants were the second grade of SMAN 1 Seputih Raman. The data were recorded and analyzed by using Independent group t-test (SPSS version 20). The data shows that there is significant different result in between pair and small group. Small group work has better pattern that encourages students to talk in information gaptechnique.Keywords: information gap, pair, small group, speaking ability

Abstract

The aims of this research are to find out whether there is a significant difference of students’ reading comprehension at the first grade of SMAN 3 Kotabumi before and after the implementation of QAR strategy and to investigate which aspect of reading comprehension improves the most after the implementation of QAR strategy. This research was a quantitative research which used a one group pre-test and post-test design. This research was conducted on January 17th to February 21st 2020 in which the population was the first grade of SMAN 3 Kotabumi. The sample of this research was class X MIPA 4 which consisted of 30 students. The data was analyzed by using Repeated Measure T-Test in which the criteria of accepted hypothesis were p 0.05, and t-value t-table. The result of this research showed that there was a significant difference of students’ reading comprehension after the implementation of QAR strategy. It can be seen from the students’ mean scores of pre-test and post-test which improves from 63.44 to 71.22 in which the gain was 7.78. The statistical analysis also revealed that t-value was higher than t-table (19.341 2.04523) with the significant level of 0.000. Besides that, the researcher also finds that making inference the aspect of reading comprehension which improves the most and the lowest was understanding vocabulary. It can be concluded that QAR strategy can be applied to improve students’ reading comprehension ability and all aspects of reading comprehension can be integrated using QAR strategy. Keywords: Question Answer Relationship (QAR), reading comprehension.doi: https://dx.doi.org/10.23960/UJET.v9.i4.202004

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan kegunaan teknik Information Gap dalam peningkatan kemampuan berbicara siswa terkait aspek pronunciation, vocabulary dan grammar dilihat dari analisa quantity of speaking dan quality of speaking. Adapun sampel yang diteliti pada penelitian ini adalah 27 siswa kelas 8L SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah metode quasi-experimental design yang berhubungan dengan pengukuran periodik. Alat pengumpulan datanya adalah tes berbicara (speaking test). Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya perbedaaan peningkatan kemampuan berbicara siswa dalam aspek pronunciation, vocabulary dan grammar dalam aplikasi teknik Information Gap.The objective of this study was to find out the application of Information Gap technique in improving students speaking skill especially in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar from the analysis of quantity and quality of speaking. The sample of this study was 27 students of 8L SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung academic year of 2014/2015. This study used quasi-experimental design involving periodic measurements. The instrument of this study was speaking task. Abstract

This research was aimed to find out (i) whether there is a significant difference of students’ speaking skill and (ii) what aspect improve the most and the least after being taught by using NHT technique. The subjects of this research were 21 students of the first year of SMA Perintis 2 Bandar Lampung in academic year 2018/2019. Speaking tests in form of monologue were done to collect the data. This research was a quantitative research since the data collected was in numeral form and were analyzed by using T-Test. The results of this study showed that there is a significant difference of the students’ speaking skill after being taught by using NHT technique with the students’ mean score 36.6 to 63.6. In addition, comprehension is the speaking skill that improved the most, while vocabulary is the speaking skill which improved the least. In brief, this indicates that NHT technique can help students to improve their speaking skill.Keywords: speaking, NHT technique, improvement.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether there is significant increase of students’ speaking ability after being taught through Role Play. The population of this research is the second year of SMK PGRI 1 Kota Agung Tanggamus that consists of 6 classes and one class is taken as the sample. The sample is selected by using the random sampling technique by using lottery. This is a quantitative research and one group pretest-posttest design was employed. This research was conducted in 5 meetings for 3 weeks. The result of pretest shows that the mean score of students’ pronunciation is 10.40. The mean score of students’ vocabulary is 9.33, fluency is 9.33, comprehension is 9.33, grammar is 8.26, The total score in pretest is 1410 and the mean score is 47.00. The result of posttest shows that the mean score of students’ pronunciation is 13.20, vocabulary is 13.73, fluency is 12.66, comprehension is 13.20, and grammar is 13.06. The total score in posttest is 1972 and the mean score is 65.73. It was therefore concluded that Role Play could significantly increase students speaking ability. Key words:implementation, role play, speaking ability

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk meneliti apakah ada perubahan signifikan pada kemampuan berbicara siswa sebelum dan setelah menemukan pengajaran melalui teknik drill; (2) aspek berbicara manakah yang paling mengalami peningkatan sebelum dan setelah pengajaran melalui teknik drill. Penelitian ini menggunakan one group time series design. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: (1) Terdapat perubahan signifikan antara kemampuan berbicara siswa sebelum dan setelah pengajaran melalui teknik drill; (2) kelancaran adalah aspek berbicara yang mengalami peningkatan paling tinggi pada kemampuan berbicara siswa. Nilai signifikan (2-tailed) adalah (p=0.000, p0.05), menunjukkan bahwa hipotesa diterima. Oleh karena itu, drill dapat diaplikasikan sebagai materi untuk meningkatkan bahasa Inggris siswa dalam kelas lisan. The objectives of the research are (1) to investigate whether there is any significant difference between students’ speaking ability before and after being taught through drill technique; (2) to find out which aspect of speaking ability is the most improved. This research applied one group time series design. The results show that: (1) there is a significant difference between the students’ speaking ability before and after being taught through drill technique; (2) Fluency is the most improved aspect in the students’ speaking ability. The significant (2-tailed) value was (p=0.000, p0.05), it showed that the hypothesis was accepted. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan i) untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan menulis antara siswa yang diajar dengan strategi KWHL original dan strategi KWHL yang telah dimodifikasi, ii) untuk mengetahui aspect menulis yang paling berpengaruh dengan adanya modifikasi strategi KWHL, dan iii) untuk mengetahu persepsi siswa terhadap modifikasi strategi KWHL. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas satu SMA Negeri 13 BandarLampung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  i)ada perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik dalam kemampuan menulis antara siswa yang diajar dengan strateg iKWHL original dan strategi KWHL yang sudah dimodifikasi, ii) organization menjadi aspect menulis yang paling berpengaruh dengan adanya modifikasi dari strategi KWHL, dan iii) siswa memilik ipersepsi yang positif terhadap modifikasi strategi KWHL. Ini menunjukkan bahwa mofikasi strategi KWHL lebih efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa; siswa dapat mengorganisasikan ide mereka dengan baik setelah diajarkan menggunakan modifikasi strategi KWHL dan mereka memiliki respon yang baik terhadap strategi ini.This study was aimed i) to find out whether there was a difference of students’ writing ability between students taught by using original KWHL strategy and the modified of KWHL strategy, ii) to find out which writing aspect affected the most by modifying KWHL strategy, and iii) to find out the students’ perception toward modified KWHL. The subjects of this research were the first grade students of SMAN 13 Bandar Lampung. The result showed that i) there was a statistically significant difference of students’ writing ability between students taught by using original KWHL and modified one, ii) the organization became the most affected writing aspect, and iii) students have positive perception toward modified KWHL.  It can be said that modified KWHL is more effective to increase the students’ writing ability; students can organize their idea well after being taught using modified KWHl, and they have positive respons toward this strategy.  Keywords: Know, Want, How, Learn (KWHL), outlining, students’ perceptions, writing ability.
