Abstract

Hyperspectral imaging is a non destructive method that has been used to evaluate internal characteristics of fruits and vegetables. Plant genetics, soil characteristics, and plant management are some of key factors to define the quality of oil palm fresh fruit bunches (FFB) produced. This research was aimed to discriminate the Tenera oil palm FFBs produced by oil palm trees grown from mineral soil and peat soil using a hyperspectral imaging system which utilized a Specim V10 spektrograf. The discrimination was based on their ripeness level, mesocarp firmness, and classification using K-mean clustering. The samples consisted of 61 mineral soil FFBs and 60 peat soil FFBs with three ripeness levels as unripe, ripe, and overripe. Hyperspectral images were recorded and processed using Matlab programs. The spectral reflectance intensities showed the discrimination between both origin soils at wavelength ranges of 700 nm  900 nm. The results also showed higher reflectance intensities of peat soil FFBs than mineral soil FFBs. Correspondingly, Fruit firmness of peat soil FFBs are higher than mineral soil FFBs. Classification using K- mean clustering between reflectance intensities and fruit firmness showed significant clusters for three ripeness levels. These results will be useful for an oil palm FFB sorting machine based on spectral imaging method

Abstract

The addiction of children to gadgets has a massive influence on their social growth. Thus, it is essential to note earlier on the addiction of children to such technologies. This study employed the learning vector quantization series 3 to classify the severity of gadget addiction due to the nature of this algorithm as one of the supervised artificial neural network methods. By analyzing the literature and interviewing child psychologists, this study highlighted 34 signs of schizophrenia with 2 level classifications. In order to obtain a sample of training and test data, 135 questionnaires were administered to parents as the target respondents. The learning rate parameter (α) used for classification is 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 with window (Ɛ) is 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and the epsilon values (m) are 0.1, 0.2, 0.3. The confusion matrix revealed that the highest performance of this classification was found in the value of 0.2 learning rate, 0.01 learning rate reduction, window 0.3, and 80:20 of ratio data simulation. This outcome demonstrated the beneficial consequences of Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) series 3 in the detection of children's gadget addiction.

Abstract

Peatland fires can cause emist GHG identification in Rimbo Panjang village, Tambang sub-district, Kampar whre there are community complaints about environmental conditions or smog. The purpose of this activity is to implement the technology of fire prevention on peat land in Rimbo Panjang Village, Tambang District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The method applied is Eco Technology with a solidification system which means reducing the pores of peat so that it can extinguish the fire quickly. The other method used is by blocking fire contact with outside air (oxygen) that is by watering using a mixture of detergent. The results obtained from this activity showed that based on the water table on peatland it was found to be varied and included in the category of deep peat, only a small portion in village 1 found a water table at a depth of 20 cm. Based on the condition of the clay layer it also turns out to be found in depths between 2.5 m to 6 meters. Based on the results of observations in the field, the condition of peat in Rimbo Panjang is vulnerable to fire. Fire simulations that have been carried out by making artificial peat conditions which are then combusted show that the Eko Technology method has been able to fire out peatlands quickly.

Abstract

Forest fires are a crucial problem and need to be taken seriously, because these fires, besides causing environmental disruption from smoke, also result in loss of forest potential and biodiversity degradation. Therefore it is necessary to do an effective and efficient forest fire control effort. Bengkalis Regency is one of the regencies in Riau Province. In the Binaan Village activity that will be carried out is in Bukit Batu District, this is done considering that Bukit Batu District has the potential to develop various economic and social aspects and with extensive peat conditions, this is what attracts the Riau University community service team to conduct the Binaan Village in the region the. Identification of problems include: institutions that have not been optimal and the lack of seriousness of the government and farmer groups to implement a non-burning land management system in dealing with forest and peatland fires in peat areas caused by lack of information and technology and institutions in non-burning land management. The purpose of this activity is: Improving the skills of the community in the Bukit Batu District of Bengkalis Regency so that they can apply techniques to open agricultural land without burning, water management, and agricultural cultivation on peatlands, as well as harvesting and post-harvesting. Improve community skills so that they can strengthen institutions, business and market analysis, and the growth of entrepreneurial spirit. The dedication method is carried out in several stages, namely: (1) Preparation Phase, (2) Work Program Preparation Phase, (3) Workshop Implementation Stage, (4) Assistance Implementation Stage, (5) Program Monitoring and Evaluation Stage, and (6) Reporting Phase. From the devotion of the Fostered Village it is known that: forest and land fires are not solely due to natural factors such as drought. Natural factors provide conditions for fires to occur, but humans also play an important role. Human-caused forest fires occur due to activities Local communities have a very substantial control role in village development because control of the decision-making process must be given to those who later bear the consequences of development including failure or negative impacts that occur due to village development. Therefore, decision making authority must be given to local communities. The parameter of community participation in supervision is involvement in the supervision team and their authority.

Abstract

In this work we carried out a numerical simulation with software Optigrating for Apodization chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG) with TOPAS material to improve sensitivity sensor, it was found that CFBG with a grating length of 50 mm has advantages in terms of ripple factor, side lobe left (SLL), and side lobe right (SLR) with values of -0,998 and -10,5264 dB, respectively. While the 10 mm CFBG has a narrower full-width half maximum (FWHM) with a value of 0.4528 nm. Tanh and Gaussian apodization were arranged in the CFBG design, it was found that the Tanh linear-CFBG had a narrow FWHM but for the ripple factor and the main lobe and side lobes were not good enough compared to the Tanh Cubicroot-CFBG, and the same pattern was also obtained in the Gaussian apodization. The narrow FWHM indicates the accuracy in detecting temperature, as well as the suppression of SLL and SLR. for the effect of apodization on CFBG it was found that The Tanh Linear-CFBG design with TOPAS material has the highest sensitivity which is -51.76 pm/oC compared to other designs.

Abstract

In this paper, we investigate a hexagonal two-layer photonic crystal fiber based on surface plasmon resonance (HT-PCF-SPR) which is easy to fabricate as a sensor for detecting the refractive index of analytes. After performing numerical simulations using COMSOL multiphysics based on the finite element method (FEM), it was found that the HT-PCF-SPR could detect the analyte's refractive index in the range 1.34-1.37 RIU and in the wavelength range from 730 nm to 810 nm. The plasmonic material used in the design is gold with a thickness of 40 nm which is located outside the layer and in two opposite air holes in the core. The HT-PCF-SPR design has good performance in detecting analytes, it is found that the sensitivity in detecting analytes is 2,000 nm/RIU, meaning that every 1 RIU shift of analyte shifts the wavelength by 2000 nm. Meanwhile, the sensor resolution obtained from the design is 6.67×10-5 RIU, and it is found that the larger the air hole, the greater the confinement loss value.

Abstract

The usability and usefulness of smartphones have been found to lack optimality. Moreover, the action of the customer appears to behave as a consumptive user instead of buying following the basic needs. In selecting the right smartphone, this study provides an alternative option for buyers. The Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (F-AHP) approach is applied by distinguishing between two distinct decision-making namely, Profile User as a user recommendation-based, and Smartphone-based selection. The suggested requirements are hobbies, areas of jobs, and the use of social network applications in determining the user profile. The weights of the criteria and alternatives for profile users are acquired through the dissemination of questionnaires to 117 respondents. In the meantime, parameters such as Random-Access Memory (RAM), Read-Only Memory (ROM), camera, processor, screen, and battery are added to the smartphone list of criteria upon on the interviews of 15 experts and practices in smartphone and Information Technology (IT). F-AHP rates each of the Smartphone and User Profiles as a first-round output. A rule-based expert system is employed to intertwine Smartphone and User Profiles decision-making viewpoints. The relationship between the Smartphone and the User Profile is therefore circumscribed as the final decision to applaud the acceptable Smartphone for those users of the profile. A prototype of the MatchSmartPhone application has been developed to computerize the F-AHP calculation. This application can be used to assist users according to the user's profile in delivering the best Smartphone device recommendations. Users would be wiser and smarter when shopping in advance.

Abstract

Before producing nitrogen plasma at atmospheric pressure in experiment, a simulation is carried out to show the equilibrium processes by chemical kinetic reaction. Nitrogen species density is guided by continuity equation where chemical processes and Arrhenius form are used to follow the change of density over the time. Those formula are integrated to obtain density and the reaction rate of each reaction. This result show that the equilibrium can be reached and generally agree with the Saha Boltzmann calculation. An afterglow application is also shown in this model where the electron is dominant in collision and cooling time is in millisecond.

Abstract

Palm fruit is Indonesia's main communiqué as the largest foreign exchange contributor processed into crude palm oil (CPO). However, the quality of CPO that will be produced is influenced by the right level of maturity of palm fruit so as not to cause losses from the processor. Losses from the palm fruit processing can be overcome using a method that can determine the maturity level of the palm fruit, one of which is by injecting the voltage in the direction of the palm fruit. The purpose of direct voltage objection to the function of time in the palm fruit is to obtain a voltage response relationship to the content of yield, moisture content and free fatty acid (ALB) in the palm fruit. In this study, palm fruit was classified into 4 levels of maturity, namely unripe, almost ripe, ripe and overripe given direct voltage injection of 9 Volts for 1 minute with 3 repetitions using four electrodes arranged parallel to obtain an electrical voltage response with an electrode diameter of 1.4 mm. The distance between electrodes was chosen to be 4 – 6 mm from stainless steel materials, and the depth of the electrode to the palm fruit is 3 – 5 mm. Palm fruit was injected with electrical voltage and obtained the value of voltage response, electric current, resistivity and power of each level of maturity. The electrical information obtained will explain the yield content, water content and ALB in palm fruit in accordance with the classification of ripeness. The results of the study obtained, that the palm fruit is said to ripen when it has a voltage response value of 0.586 – 0.765 V, electric current 385 – 404.9 μA, resistivity 40.197 – 54.523 Ωm, and power 0.238 – 0.299 mW. The results showed that the maturity level of palm fruit based on its chemical content affects the properties of electricity.
