Abstract

Optical fiber components are increasingly growing in the telecommunication technology with various forms to facilitate effective and stable communication. However, the output signal of optical fiber is still experiencing interference, bending power loss n and dispersion, such as birefringence. To minimize the interference, this paper investigates birefringence profile on the aspect of disturbance and geometrical parameters for commercial single-mode optical fiber (SMF) through OptiFiber simulation. This simulation build the model of several SMFs, namely SMF-28, SMF-28e, SMF-28e +, SMF-28e + LL, and SMF-28 ULL which have different refractive index for core and cladding, but their radii are fixed for each wavelength source of 1310nm and 1550nm. The impact of interference on optical fiber can be understood from birefringence model of its bending radius to  power loss and wavelength. The highest loss occurred at SMF-28 fiber of 0.012dB / km with a radius of 0.020m for wavelength of 1310nm and bending loss at wavelength of 1550nm was 31.96dB / km at radius of 0.02m. This finding shows that magnitude of normalized frequency strongly determines the effectiveness and stability of optical fibers.

Abstract

Fiber optics have become a vital role in telecommunication technologies with many benefits, i.g. high speed transmission, non-electromagnetic interference and low energy consumption. An excellent single mode fiber (SMF) must provide a low attenuation and dispersion which occurs at same wavelength, i.e. 1550 nm. But, in silica based SMF, this property cannot be achieved in a bulk form. Meanwhile, the direct experiment is really not the best choice. Therefore, a simulation fiber design take a crucial role into account for obtaining zero dispersion shift. We design SMF geometry with zero dispersion by resizing the width of core and cladding. This design consists of inner and outer core-clad profile. We also provide several width boundaries for matching the lowest dispersion to the lowest attenuation in silica fiber-based. Moreover, the results shows that dispersion property of the design is suitable for long-haul optical communication systems.

Abstract

The analysis of material dispersion on Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) by using silica material for the core and cladding with germania-doped silica material has been determined. FBG is used for multi mode. Parameters that fluctuate in this study is the grating length of FBG while the value of the period, the modulation index and the amount of grating is keptconstant.   The method used is OptiGrating software, which is a software evaluating a transfer matrix to analyze the grating on the FBG. The results showed the higher value of long-grating given in FBG, the lower valley formed transmission coefficients. The pattern of the transmission coefficients of FBG found the difference between FBG dispersed material and no dispersed material. The dispersed material produced some FBGtransmission coefficients with a certain value where the bigger one has the pattern point value the lower the transmission coefficients is produced. The FBG with no  material dispersion results the constant of the transmission coefficients.

Abstract

AbstractProductivity of palm tree grown are generally measured in months periods, but in a shorter time scale is particularly less measured by the plant maintenance of palm tree. Consideration of the general productivity in time is how to produce good fruit fertilizer (chemical aspect), healthy plants, fast growing and evolving (agricultural aspect) and genetic type of palm that grows (biological aspect). However, the growth and production on the physical aspect is still less attention. Through physical treatment, the growth of palm tree can be optimized, as it has been proven in advanced countries on the plant Aloe Vera, Avocado and Pine trees. This paper proposes a treatment of direct current voltage to palm tree that can accelerate the flow of ions to grow and develop nutrients with the increment of geometry and sturcture of leaf and midrib. The palm tree samples are aged 1 to 5 years corresponding to the provision of various current voltage. Identification of samples before and after treatment by electricity determined is based on the geometry of leaves and midrib and ions effect. This identification can support the productivity of palm trees.

Abstract

Fabry-perot filter was successfully developed by a uniform Fiber Bragg Grating in fiber optic. A characterization of Bragg Grating was analyzed by using computational model with second-order of Transfer Matrix Method based on Coupled Mode Theory. The reflectivity, length of grating, and bandwidth were parametrics to determine the performance of single Bragg Grating. The transmission spectrum showed the longer grating is designed, the larger the reflectivity was produced, so that the transmission band was more narrow. The simulation carried out by varying the separation distance between two gratings was alsoevaluated by dual Bragg Grating. The separation distances from 0.5 cm to 9.5 cm with 1 cm length step. The simulation result showed the maximum peak value generated in the transmission spectrum increased directly proportional to the distance between the gratings. Thus, the grating can be applied as a filter.  Only selected wavelength is allowed to transmit the signal until the end of the optical fiber.

Abstract

Previous researches outlined the advantages of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Analytic Network Process (ANP) methods in solving Multi-Attribute Decision Making (MADM) problems. The advancement of the above methods was continually developed as an effort to cover up various weaknesses. Mainly related to the consistency and linguistic variables in translating the expert opinions. Thus, it initialized the emergence of Fuzzy AHP (F-AHP) and Fuzzy ANP (F-ANP). Due to the restricted operation of these algorithms in smartphone selection, this research attempted to investigate the effectiveness of both methods in providing the analysis of criteria weight, the final recommendation weight, the product recommendation weight, and the execution time in DSS-SmartPhoneRec application development. A survey of one hundred respondents of University students identified the dominant criteria in selecting the smartphone, namely price, Random Access Memory (RAM), processor, internal memory, and camera. Hence, five alternative products were then chosen as the appropriate smartphones’ recommendations based on the respondent’s preferences.  As an automatic tool, a DSS-SmartPhoneRec application was built to analyze and compare between F-AHP and F-ANP methods in resolving the smartphone selection cases. It revealed that the level of consistency of criteria weight, the final weight of recommendation, and the weight that the product-based F-ANP was 40% greater than F-AHP. In terms of execution time, F-AHP had a shorter time than F-ANP. Meanwhile, the comparison of products recommendation from DSS-SmartPhoneRec and a manual test showed that F-ANP was 16% more in line with the respondents’ predilection. In a nutshell, the DSS-SmartPhoneRec administered the devote smartphone recommendations based on the user’s expectation. The comparison analysis furnished a learning outcome for the users in determining the appropriate MADM method tailored to the type of cases.
