Abstract

This research uses corncob waste and wood dust as raw materials. The amount of corn cob waste and sawdust is quite large, thus supporting the availability of raw materials. The biomass waste used in this research is corn cob waste and wood dust. The composition of corn cob fiber is 23.74% lignin, 65.96% cellulose, and 10.82% hemicellulose. Wood powder contains hemicellulose between 27.51 - 35.88%, a-cellulose between 43.15-48.73%, lignin between 22.73-33.60%. High lignin content has the potential to produce high calorific value. This research aims to determine the physical properties of corn cob and wood powder biomass waste briquettes, determine the quality standards for corn cob charcoal and wood powder briquettes based on the SNI 01-6235-2000 standard and compare the values ​​with standards from Japan, America and England and determine the feasibility based on the results of testing the physical properties of charcoal briquettes. The research method used was an experimental method with a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and three replications. Based on the SNI 01-6235-2000 standard, corncob charcoal briquettes meet the standard, while the calorific value for sawdust does not meet the standard. The ANOVA test results showed that the treatment had a significant effect on ash content, calorific value, bound carbon content, volatile matter content and had no significant effect on water content. Corn cob charcoal briquettes are suitable for use as charcoal briquette fuel because all physical properties meet SNI standards.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kekuatan fisika mekanika dari papan laminasi yang terbuat dari 3 bahan utama: yaitu kombinasi kayu rajumas-bambu petung, sengon-bambu petung dan bambu petung sebagai bahan kontruksi. Sifat fisika dan mekanika digunakan untuk mengetahui keunggulan dari papan laminasi termasuk didalamnya yaitu kekuatan dan kestabilannya. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi untuk memperkaya informasi dan berkontribusi untuk menjaga keseimbangan lingkungan serta penggunaan sumber daya alam yang berkelanjutan.  Metode penelitian yang digunakan metode eksperimen dengan rancangan percobaan non faktorial dengan tiga perlakuan dan tiga kali ulangan. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian maka sifat fisika papan laminasi kombinasi rajumas bambu petung, sengon bambu petung dan bambu petung telah memenuhi standar SNI dan JAS.  Pengujian sifat mekanika MoE dan MoR tidak memenuhi standar kecuali MoR papan laminasi P1 (kombinasi rajumas bambu petung) telah memenuhi standar.  Hasil pengujian anova menunjukan berpengaruh nyata pada pengujian kerapatan, penyusutan tebal, MoE dan MoR sementara untuk pengujian kadar air dan pengembangan tebal tidak berpengaruh nyata. Berdasarkan kelas kuat kayu maka papan laminasi kombinasi rajumas bambu petung, sengon bambu petung dan bambu petung masuk dalam kelas kuat III yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan konstruksi berat yang terlindungi.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how big the hedonic lifestyle is in consumptive behavior in students of the Business Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences,USU as well as the factors that influence and impact the hedonic lifestyle in consumptive behavior. This research is type of qualitative research. The population in this study were students of the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, USU Class of 2021. The sample in this study was 6 students majoring in Business Administration class 2021 class 4A. The sampling technique that can be used in this research is random sampling. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of the study show that the hedonic lifestyle in consumptive behavior by students of the Business Administration Study Program, USU's Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, has various forms. Some students tend to choose a consumptive lifestyle in terms of fashion, while others are more inclined to social activities such as traveling and hanging out in popular places. Factors that influence students to live a hedonic lifestyle are personal preferences for modern life and family support. The positive impact of a hedonic lifestyle is increasing self-confidence and providing pleasant social experiences. The negative impacts are excessive consumption, priority imbalance, dissatisfaction, and uncontrolled financial spending.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how big the hedonic lifestyle is in consumptive behavior in students of the This study aims to determine how much influence fomo, hedonic motivation has on the use of paylater on students in Medan City. This research is included in the type of quantitative research. The population in this study were students of Medan City. The samples in this study were students from UNIMED, UINSU, and UMSU. The sampling technique that can be used in this research is random sampling. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of the research on the t test (partial) show that Fomo has a significant value of 0.001 <0.05. Hedonic Motivation has a significant value of 0.587 > 0.05. The F test (simultaneous) has a significant value of 0.000 <0.05. The conclusion in this study is that H1 is accepted, which means that Fomo has an influence on the use of Paylater, H2 is rejected, which means that Hedonic Motivation has no effect on the use of Paylater, and finally H3 is accepted, meaning that Fomo and Hedonic Motivation have an effect simultaneously on the use of Paylater by students in Medan City. especially at UNIMED, UINSU, and UMSU.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the qualities of bamboo-oriented strand board (BOSB) made from Dendrocalamus asper bamboo strands, both with and without steam treatment. Furthermore, the effect of exposure length to natural weathering on the physical and mechanical characteristics of BOSB was examined. The steam treatment lasted one hour at 126°C and a pressure of 0.14 MPa. Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) and paraffin were utilized as adhesives and additives, with concentrations of 5% and 1%, respectively, based on oven-dried weight. The BOSB was exposed to natural weathering in different exposure durations (0, 1, and 3 months) in Bukit Bogor Raya Pajajaran, West Java, Indonesia. Subsequently, the BOSB was tested for its physical and mechanical properties and retention value. The result showed that steam treatment improved the dimensional stability and mechanical properties of BOSB bonded with MDI adhesive more than untreated BOSB. However, steam treatment has a better protection level against natural degradation than untreated samples. These confirm that BOSB with steam treatment is a durable and sustainable construction material. Abstract

The research to determine the application of NPK doses and types of planting media and their interactions on morphological characters and yield of Telang plant. The research was conducted in Denasri Wetan paddy field, Batang District, Batang Regency with an altitude of ± 3 m above sea level. The experimental design used Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of 2 factors with 3 repeats. The factors tried were the doses NPK (D) and planting media (M). The first factor was the doses NPK (D) consisting of a dose of 7,5 g/polybag (D1), a dose of 15 g/polybag (D2), and a dose of 22,5 g/polybag (D3). The second factor is the types of planting media (M) consisting of soil planting media (M0), soil + sand + rice musk (M1), soil + rice musk + manure (M2), and soil + sand + manure (M3). Data were analysed by the F test and continued with Least Significance Different (LSD) level 5%. Variable analysed were plant height (cm), leaf area (cm2), number of leaves (strands), number of branches (branches), longest root length (cm), root volume (ml), fresh flower weight (g), dry flower weight (g), number of flowers (piece), and time appearance of flowers (DAP). The results showed that the NPK doses were significant different and very significant different in the variable plant height, leaf area, longest root length, root volume, fresh flower weight, dry flower weight, and number of flowers whereas in other variables it was not significant different. The best NPK dose was achieved with a doses of 15 g/polybag (D2). The planting media had very significant different to all variables except the longest root length variable, which was not significant different. The best planting media is soil + rice husk + manure (M2). There was an interaction between the doses NPK and the planting media which was significant different for variable plant height and leave area and not significant different in other variable. The best interaction was achieved at a combination of dose NPK 15 g/polybag with planting media soil + rice husk + manure (D2M2).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sistem pengendalian internal atas Penggajian Pada Dinas Kepemudaan Olahraga dan Pariwisata Kota Pontianak sudah berjalan dengan efektif atau belum. Dalam menganalisis sistem penggajian pada Dinas Kepemudaan Olahraga dan Pariwisata Kota Pontianak penulis melakukan penelitian dengan mengamati dan membandingkan teori yang ada dengan sistem yang digunakan oleh organisasi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Dinas Kepemudaan Olahraga dan Pariwisata Kota Pontianak. Metode penelitian ini adalah analisis struktur organisasi, analisis internal control questionnaire, wawancara serta menggunakan compliance test. Berdasarkan hasil analisis yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa sistem pengendalian internal atas penggajian pada Dinas Kepemudaan, Olahraga dan Pariwisata Kota Pontianak sudah berjalan efektif sesuai dengan prosedur yang ada. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil analisis struktur organisasi, analisis flowchart, compliance test dan analisis internal control questionnaire yang mendapatkan penilaian efektifitas 72%. Terjadinya permasalahan karena adanya keterlambatan proses administrasi pada saat pembayaran gaji.

Abstract

Proses perawatan mesin-mesin perkayuan pada skala UMKM kurang mendapatkan perhatian yang serius. Proses pergantian spare part maupun pengasahan pisau dilakukan ketika sudah terjadi kerusakan pada mesin, sehingga membutuhkan biaya perbaikan yang tinggi. Pengamatan tim pengabdian terhadap mitra, UD Wood menunjukkah bahwa terdapat cacat dalam pemotongan maupun penyerutan kayu yang berbentuk cutter mark, serabut, dan gosong pada bidang potong. Permasalahan ini bermuara pada penggunaan pisau yang sudah tumpul akibat tidak adanya standar yang terjadwal untuk proses pengasahan pisau, terutama pada mesin planner. Maka dari itu, kegiatan pengabdian ini penting dilaksanakan dalam rangka membantu mitra untuk peningkatan produktivitas yang berdamapak pada kualitas kayu serta manajamen produksi untuk menciptakan suasana kerja yang bersih dan ramah lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian difokuskan pada aspek produktivitas berupa penggunaan pisau-pisau kayu yang berkualitas dan teknis perawatan serta pengasahannya, kemudian pada aspek manajemen berupa tersusunnya SOP penggantian pisau kayu dan jadwal pengecekan mesin secara berkala. Kegiatan pengabdian telah dilaksanakan dengan baik melalui 5 tahapan kegiatan yaitu sosialisasi, pelatihan, penerapan teknologi, pendampingan dan evaluasi serta keberlanjutan program. Kegiatan ini diharapkan akan mampu menjadi solusi dalam peningkatan produktivitas kerja mitra serta terbentuknya manajamen usaha yang bersih dan ramah lingkungan

Abstract

Bamboo is a very abundant resource with high diversity. There are 157 types of bamboo in Indonesia, one of which is petung bamboo. Petung bamboo is used as raw material for handicrafts and construction, but much of it remains unused and becomes waste, making it a potential alternative fuel source such as bio-briquettes. This study aims to determine the effect of compression pressure on the characteristics of petung bamboo charcoal briquettes and to determine the suitability of the quality of petung bamboo charcoal briquettes according to SNI 01-6235-2000. The research design used was a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with compression pressure factors consisting of 200 psi, 350 psi, and 500 psi. The conversion of bamboo biomass into charcoal was carried out using the pyrolysis method with a drum kiln. The results showed that the highest average density value was found in treatment T3, which was 0.53 g/cm3, while the lowest average density value of charcoal briquettes was found in treatment T1, which was 0.44 g/cm3. Based on SNI, the moisture content that met the SNI standard was found in treatment T2 (350 psi) < 8%. The ash content of all treatments of charcoal briquettes meets the standard of < 8%, the volatile matter content of all treatments of charcoal briquettes does not meet the standard of <15%, and the calorific value of all treatments of charcoal briquettes meets the standard of > 5000 cal/g. Compression pressure does not affect the characteristics of petung bamboo charcoal briquettes. All characteristics of petung bamboo charcoal briquettes in this study met the SNI No. 01-623-2000 standard, except for the volatile matter content and moisture content at pressures T1 (200 psi) and T2 (350 psi).

Abstract

Limbah serbuk kayu dari industri penggergajian merupakan sumber biomassa yang melimpah namun kurang dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Salah satu potensi pemanfaatannya adalah sebagai bahan baku pembuatan asap cair melalui proses pirolisis. Studi pirolisis untuk biomassa kayu telah banyak dilakukan, namun kajian waktu optimal pembakaran serbuk mahoni untuk memproduksi asap cair sesuai SNI 8985:2021 masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi waktu pembakaran terhadap rendemen, karakteristik, dan mutu asap cair dari serbuk kayu mahoni (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq). Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial, melibatkan 3 perlakuan waktu (30, 60, dan 90 menit) dengan 3 kali ulangan. Karakteristik asap cair yang diuji antara lain rendemen, kadar asam asetat, dan kadar fenol. Cara pengujian asam asetat dan kadar fenol dilakukan sesuai dengan SNI 8985:202. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji ANOVA satu arah untuk data parametrik dan uji Kruskal-Wallis untuk data non-parametrik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi waktu pembakaran memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap rendemen dan kadar asam asetat, namun tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kadar fenol. Meskipun demikian, kadar fenol tertinggi tercatat pada perlakuan waktu 90 menit sebesar 3,36%. Kadar asam asetat cenderung meningkat seiring bertambahnya durasi pembakaran, namun masih berada dalam batas mutu 2 yang ditetapkan oleh SNI 8985:2021. Dengan demikian, waktu pirolisis selama 90 menit pada suhu 300°C dinilai sebagai perlakuan paling optimal dalam menghasilkan asap cair berkualitas dari serbuk kayu mahoni. Asap cair mutu 2 dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pengawet dan desinfektan, sedangkan asap cair yang tidak memenuhi SNI 8985:2021 tetap berpotensi digunakan sebagai pengawet alami kayu. The Effect of Combustion Time on the Characteristics of Liquid Smoke from Mahogany Wood Powder (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq)   Abstract Wood sawdust waste from the sawmill industry is an abundant source of biomass that is underutilized. One potential use is as a raw material for producing liquid smoke through pyrolysis. Pyrolysis studies on wood biomass have been conducted extensively, but research on the optimal combustion time for mahogany sawdust to produce liquid smoke in accordance with SNI 8985:2021 is still limited.This study aims to determine the effect of combustion time variation on the yield, characteristics, and quality of liquid smoke from mahogany sawdust (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq). The study used an experimental method with a non-factorial Complete Randomized Design (CRD), involving 3 combustion time treatments (30, 60, and 90 minutes) with 3 replicates. The characteristics of liquid smoke tested included yield, acetic acid content, and phenolic content. The testing of acetic acid and phenolic content was carried out in accordance with SNI 8985:202. Data analysis was performed using a one-way ANOVA test for parametric data and a Kruskal-Wallis test for non-parametric data. The results showed that variations in combustion time had a significant effect on yield and acetic acid content, but did not significantly affect phenolic content. However, the highest phenolic content was recorded in the 90 minutes treatment at 3.36%. Acetic acid levels tend to increase with longer combustion times, but remain within the quality limits 2 set by SNI 8985:2021. Thus, pyrolysis for 90 minutes at 300°C is considered the most optimal treatment for producing high-quality liquid smoke from mahogany wood powder. Grade 2 liquid smoke can be used as a preservative and disinfectant, while liquid smoke that does not meet SNI 8985:2021standards can still be used as a natural wood preservative.
