Abstract

This study aims to analyze the patterns of students’ learning behavior in the Fiqh subject at MAS Al-Manar Medan. The research focuses on identifying the forms of learning behaviors displayed during the instructional process, the factors influencing these behaviors, and the teacher’s classroom management strategies in creating a conducive learning environment. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that students’ learning behaviors fall into three major categories: active behaviors such as asking questions and participating in discussions, passive behaviors such as listening without engagement, and irrelevant behaviors such as being unfocused or engaging in off-task activities. Factors influencing these behaviors include motivation, teacher’s instructional style, classroom atmosphere, and students’ learning readiness. The study recommends the use of active learning strategies to enhance students’ engagement in the Fiqh learning process.

It was a qualitative study using an ethnographic approach. Research subjects were 7 elementary school students (a 3rd class student, three 4th graders, and three 6th graders) in the village neighborhood of sirnoboyo and two elementary school teachers (a class 4 teacher and a class 5 teacher). Sampling technique used to determine student subjects. The data collection methods used observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis suggests that: 1) the traditional game hula hoop, the tray, and the kite were responsible for the mathematical concepts. The mathematical concept of the traditional game tool was line, Angle, point of view, and get up flat. 2) traditional game tools as hula hoop, bakiak, and kites have contributed as a source of mathematical learning at elementary school. 3) the character traditional game hula hoop, the bakiak, and the kite were self-sufficiency, confidence, teamwork, and unity.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the efforts of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in fostering students’ sense of respect toward teachers at SMPS Dewantara, Langkat. In the context of character education, respect is not merely understood as a form of politeness but as a fundamental moral value rooted in Islamic teachings. This research is motivated by the observed decline in students’ respectful attitudes, as reflected in daily behaviors such as a lack of courtesy and low levels of obedience toward teachers. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consist of PAI teachers and students. The collected data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that PAI teachers play a highly strategic role in instilling respectful attitudes in students, particularly through exemplary behavior, the habituation of positive conduct, the integration of religious values into the learning process, and emotional approaches that build close relationships with students. Students’ respect is demonstrated through behaviors such as greeting teachers, listening attentively, using polite language, and complying with school regulations. This study concludes that fostering respect requires the active involvement of teachers as well as support from a conducive school environment.
