Abstract

The mathematics teacher profession has become a challenging and interesting profession in the era of technological advancement and global competition. The fact that mathematics is difficult is not able to stop interested (students) to become mathematics teachers. This is a basic asset that they have seen the opportunities behind challenges. This article aims to provide an overview of prospective mathematics teacher candidates regarding the opportunities, hopes, demands, and challenges of becoming a mathematics teacher. To accommodate these objectives, the article is divided into three main sections related to the question: Why choose a mathematics education study program? What does it take to be a math teacher? What needs to be prepared to become a mathematics teacher? These three questions are answered in their respective sections in the hope that they can give an idea of ??what needs to be done, what has been done, and how the students of mathematics teacher candidates follow the lectures.

Abstract

[Bahasa]: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara konsepsi siswa tentang penilaian dan kecemasan mereka terhadap matematika. Subjek penelitian adalah 40 siswa di salah satu sekolah dasar negeri di Bekasi. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode survei dengan desain cross-sectional. Adapun instrumen penelitian yaitu angket konsepsi tentang penilaian dan angket kecemasan matematika. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan uji korelasi Spearman’s rho. Temuan penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa siswa yang cenderung memiliki konsepsi penilaian sebagai cara-cara yang dilakukan guru untuk memberikannya informasi terkait apa, bagaimana, mengapa tentang belajarnya berkorelasi secara signifikan terhadap penurunan kecemasan mereka terhadap matematika. Sebaliknya, siswa yang memiliki konsepsi bahwa penilaian yang dilakukan guru sebagai sebuah cara untuk membandingkan performanya dengan kriteria-kriteria eksternal, maka secara signifikan berkorelasi terhadap peningkatan kecemasan matematika. Temuan ini juga mengindikasikan perlunya mengubah paradigma teaching to the test ke arah assessment as learning untuk membentuk sebuah konsepsi yang utuh terhadap penilaian. [English]: This study aims to examine the relationship between students' conceptions about assessment and their mathematics anxiety. Participants in this study were 40 elementary school students in one of the public elementary schools in Bekasi. This research employed survey method with cross-sectional design. Instruments in this study consisted of conception about assessment and mathematics anxiety questionnaires. Hypothesis testing is done with correlation of Spearman's rho. The findings of this study reveal that students who tended to view assessment as a process that supports learning correlated significantly to the reduction of their anxiety towards mathematics. On the other case, students who have the conception that the assessment is used only as comparing between performance and external criterions, it significantly correlates with the increase of mathematical anxiety. This study also indicates the need to change the paradigm of “teaching to the test” towards “assessment as learning” to establish a complete conception of the assessment.

Abstract

Examples and exercises in mathematics textbooks have an essential role in directing teaching and learning to achieve the objectives of the mathematics curriculum. This study examines mathematical tasks, i.e., examples and exercises, for a grade 4 elementary school mathematics textbook published by the Indonesian Government in 2018. We focus on geometry tasks and categorize them based on the dimensions of cognitive processes and knowledge of the revised Bloom’s taxonomy. Textbook research is used to achieve the objectives of this study. The validity of the data was carried out by employing peer debriefing. The findings of this study indicate that only about 30% of the geometry tasks in this mathematics textbook require high-level mathematical thinking skills. This study also shows that procedural knowledge is more dominant and becomes an orientation in presenting geometry tasks. This finding becomes less relevant to the orientation of researchers and policymakers who want the direction of mathematics education to be forming students as problem solvers.

Abstract

This study aims to ascertain student motivation for learning in the Elementary Mathematics Education Research Course by utilizing the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) method. The sample for this study is made up of 37 PGSD students at Yogyakarta State University. The data collection methods used were observation, a questionnaire focused on student motivation to learn, and student-led project evaluation. The data analysis technique employed is descriptive statistical analysis. The findings indicated that students' motivation for learning elementary mathematics research subjects was high, and their projects were excellent.

Abstract

[English]: The purpose of this research was to (1) develop scales for measuring teaching practices and assessment practices in mathematics class; (2) identify the profile of teaching practices and assessment practices in mathematics class; and (3) examine the consistency between relevant factors in teaching practices and assessment practices in mathematics class. The methods of cross-sectional surveys and a scale development study were used to achieve that purpose. The participants in this research included two sample groups of primary school teachers in Jakarta. The first sample consisted of 252 teachers and the second sample consisted of 325 teachers. This research found that there were two factors in each dimension of teachers’ practices in mathematics class. Teaching practices included the relational and instrumental practices, while the assessment practices included the assessment for learning and assessment of learning. This research also found that most of the teachers leaned toward traditional practices for both teaching practices and assessment practices, and that there was a consistency between relevant factors in those teaching and assessment practices. A more detailed discussion can be found in the findings and discussion section. Metode survei cross-sectional dan studi pengembangan skala digunakan untuk menggapai tujuan tersebut. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini mencakup dua kelompok sampel guru sekolah dasar di Jakarta. Sampel pertama adalah 252 guru dan sampel kedua adalah 325 guru. Temuan penelitian ini mendapati terdapat dua faktor di setiap dimensi praktik guru di kelas matematika. Praktik mengajar mencakup faktor praktik relasional dan instrumental, sedangkan praktik penilaian mencakup faktor praktik assessment for learningdan assessment of learning. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa sebagian besar guru mengarah pada praktik-praktik tradisional baik praktik mengajar maupun praktik penilaian, dan terdapat konsistensi antar faktor yang bersesuaian pada praktik mengajar dan penilaian tersebut. Abstract

This study aims to describe the numeracy competency profile of elementary school teachers in Ponjong District, Gunungkidul Regency, viewed from demographic factors. The demographic factors used to describe, there were gender, type of school (public or private), length of teaching, age, and whether the teacher in question was certified as an educator. This numeracy competency was essential to explore because this skill was one of the most critical primary education goals; it helped realize successful advanced learning, social interaction, meeting the necessities of life, and global employment. This study used a design-based research (DBR) approach combined with professional learning community (PLC) and participatory action research (PAR), in which a sample of forty teachers was drawn equally from each group of teachers working groups (KKG). The data were taken using test instruments and analyzed using inferential statistical tests. The results showed that from the gender aspect, there was no difference in numeracy competence for both men and women. The second, based on the type of school, there was no difference in numeration competence between public and private schools. The third, from the length of teaching, it was found that teachers with a duration of education under five years had a higher numeracy score. The fourth, in terms of age, there was no difference in numeracy ability from twenty-five to fifty-six years. The conclusion, from the aspect of educator certification, was fascinating. Although not significant, there was an average difference in the numeracy ability test between teachers who were certified educators and those who were not certified, where teachers who did not have an educator certificate had a higher test average than those who already had an educator certificate.

Abstract

Pendidikan saat ini perlu untuk mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis. PBL ialah model pembelajaran yang menjurus pada penguatan kompetensi pemecahan masalah, bernalar kritis, dan belajar tentang belajar. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui signifikansi pengaruh penerapan model PBL pada pembelajaran terhadap kompetensi berpikir kritis siswa kelas VI SD pada materi lingkaran. Pendekatan yang diaplikasian dalam penelitian ini yaitu pendekatan kuantitatif tipe desain Pre-Test Post-Test berpikir kritis. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan tes berpikir kritis. Partisipan yang disertakan pada peneltian ini kelas VI SDN Pacing sedangkan sejumlah 25 siswa.  Analisis Data menggunakan Uji-t satu sampel. Berdasarkan perhitungan pengujian hipotesis yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji-t. . Hasil dari uji normalitas nilai hasil berpikir kritis 0,139 >  (0,05)  melebihi nilai signifikan , maka nilai variabel berdistribusi normal , dilanjutkan menggunakan uji-t satu sampel , hasil uji-t pada bagian equal variances assumed tampak bahwa nilai Sig.(2-tailed) < ???? yaitu 0,000 < 0,05 maka tolak H0. Jadi dapat disimpulkan ada signifikansi pengaruh penerapan PBL terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis matematika siswa kelas VI SD.Education today needs to develop critical thinking skills to face the era of both personal and vocational life. PBL is a learning model that focuses on strengthening problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and learning how to learn. This study aims to determine the significance of the effect of applying the PBL learning model on the critical thinking skills of sixth grade elementary school students on circle material. Approach used in this research is a quantitative approach of the type of Pre-Test and Post-Test research. using a learning outcomes test. The technique of data collection in this study used a critical thinking test. The participant used in this study was grade VI SDN Pacing while the sample used in this study amounted to 25 students. Data analysis using one sample t-test. Based on the calculation of hypothesis testing carried out using the t-test. The results of the normality test of the value of the result of 0.139 critical thinking >α (0.05) exceeds the significant value, then the value of the variable is normally distributed, followed by using a one-sample t-test, the results of equal variance assumed shows that Sig (2-tailed) < ????, 0,000 < 0,05 so that H0 rejected. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of the application of PBL on the mathematical critical thinking skills of sixth grade elementary school students.Keywords: circle, Critical Thinking, PBL

Abstract

AbstrakPeserta didik pada era abad ini yaitu abad 21 memerlukan kemampuan yang mumpuni karena masuk pada era globalisasi. Salah satu kemampuan yang diusung pada kegiatan belajar mengajar Kurikulum 2013 adalah kemampuan berpikir kritis. Tujuan dari studi ini untuk mengetahui ada pengaruh lembar kerja peserta didik berbasis pemecahan masalah terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematika materi bangun ruang. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu pendekatan kuantitatif jenis penelitian Pre-Test dan Post-Test. menggunakan soal pilihan ganda 10 butir berpikir kritis. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan soal pilihan ganda 10 butir berpikir kritis. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini berjumlah 22 siswa. Analisis Data menggunakan Uji paired sample t-test. Berdasarkan perhitungan hipotesis tingkat signifikan α = 0,05 dengan Hasil Uji Validitas menunjukkan hasil = 0,845>???? (0,05) sehingga semua item soal menunjukkan hasil valid . Uji realibilitas jika nilai ???? > 0.757 nilainya bersifat reliabel yaitu 0,757, dari hasil uji validitas dan realibilitas semua variabel bersifat realiabel/konsisten dikarenakan semua item masing-masing variabel valid. Hasil dari uji normalitas nilai hasil belajar 0,249 >???? (0,05) melebihi nilai signifikan , maka nilai variabel berdistribusi normal , dilanjutkan menggunakan uji-t satu sampel , hasil uji-t tersebut hasil belajar pada nilai statistik-t sebesar 0.759> ???? (0,05) maka tolak H0. Jadi dapat disimpulkan mengetahui ada pengaruh lembar kerja peserta didik berbasis pemecahan masalah terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematika kelas V pada materi bangun ruang.Kata kunci: Bangun ruang, Berpikir kritis, Lkpd AbstractStudents in the era of the 21st century are currently faced with the era of globalization that requires adequate abilities. Critical thinking skills have been used in 2013 Curriculum learning activities. This study aims to determine the effect of problem solving-based students' work on critical thinking in mathematics for class V on the material of building space. The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach of the type of Pre-Test and Post-Test research. using a Likert Scale critical thinking questionnaire. The data collection technique in this study used a critical thinking questionnaire. The sample used in this study amounted to 22 students. Data analysis used one sample t-test. Based on the calculation of the hypothesis that was carried out using the t-test, based on the significance level = 0.05 with the Validity Test Results showing the results r = 0845>α (0.05) so that all items showed valid results. Reliability test if the value > 0.757 the value is reliable, namely 0.757, from the results of the validity and reliability test all variables are reliable/consistent because all items of each variable are valid. The results of the normality test of the value of learning outcomes 0.249 >α (0.05) exceeds the significant value, then the value of the variable is normally distributed, followed by using a one-sample t-test, the results of the t-test learning outcomes at the t-statistical value of 0.759> ( 0.05) then reject H0. Abstract

Abstrak Kemampuan numerasi adalah keterampilan yang dibutuhkan siswa, karena keterampilan numerasi membuat siswa mampu menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika yang ada di kehidupannya. Pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) digunakan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan penalaran matematika. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini ialah mengetahui pengaruh penerapan pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) pada kemampuan numerasi siswa kelas V di SD Negeri 1 Karangduren. Pendekatan di dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif menggunakan jenis penelitian pre-test dan post-test. Perlakuan yang diberikan kepada siswa berupa pembelajaran numerasi dengan menerapkan langkah-langkah PMRI. Partisipan pada penelitian ini adalah 20 siswa kelas V. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes numerasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan analisis deskriptif dan uji-t. Hasil dari uji t diperoleh nilai signifikasi (Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed)) lebih besar dari 0,05 yaitu 0,20, maka H0 diterima dan H1 ditolak. Jadi, diketahui bahwa terdapat pengaruh pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) terhadap kemampuan numerasi siswa kelas V di SD Negeri 1 Karangduren.Kata kunci: Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI), Kemampuan NumerasiAbstract Numerical ability is a skill that students need, because numeracy skills make students able to solve mathematical problems in everyday life. The Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach is used to boost mathematical understanding and reasoning. The purpose in this study is to find out the effect of the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach on the numeracy skills of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 1 Karangduren. The approach in this study is a quantitative approach with pre-test and post-test. The treatment given to students is learning numeracy by applying PMRI. The participants in this study were 20 students who were at the grade V. The data collection using a numerical test. Data analysis was carried out descriptive statistical analysis and t-test. The results of the t-test obtained a significance value (Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed)) greater than 0.05, namely 0.20, then H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected. These results indicate that there is a significant effect in the implementation of Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) on the numeracy skills of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 1 Karangduren.Keywords: Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI), Numeracy Ability

Abstract

AbstrakKeterampilan berpikir kreatif matematis ialah suatu keterampilan penting dan dimiliki siswa dengan tujuan agar dapat memecahkan masalah mata pelajaran matematika. Keterampilan ini dapat ditingkatkan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada proses pemecahan masalah. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu dapat meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam berpikir kreatif matematis menggunakan Creative Problem Solving dalam proses pembelajaran. Desain penelitian berupa penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dalam 2 siklus. Penelitian ini menggunakan subjek siswa pada kelas III di SDN 1 Blimbing kecamatan Karangnongko sebanyak 20 siswa meliputi 11 laki-laki serta 9 perempuan. Hasil dari penelitian didapatkan bahwa keterampilan siswa dalam berpikir kreatif  untuk indikator fluency, awalnya 40% meningkat menjadi 73,7%, originality yang awalnya15% meningkat menjadi 37,5%, flexibility yang awalnya 52,5 % menjadi 75%, elaboration yang awalnya 37,5% menjadi 76,2%. Secara keseluruhan rata-rata skor nilai dari keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa meningkat pada siklus I dari 44,6 pada kategori bertambah di siklus II menjadi 82 pada kategori tinggi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kreatif dengan model pembelajaran CPS.Kata kunci: Creative Problem Solving; Keterampilan berpikir kreatif matematis
