Abstract

One of the influential factors in shaping professional health workers is the learning process during education. The professional attitude of pharmacy students can be modified with innovative learning methods. Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) emphasizes students' involvement in systematically, critically, and logically gathering information so that they can formulate their findings. This study aims to determine the effect of IBL on pharmacist professional study program education students taking Pharmacy Communication and Health Promotion courses. This study employed quasi-experimental research with a group Pretest-Posttest Design. The study subjects were 40 students of the Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program. The students got learning interventions with IBL method. IBL stages consist of IBL orientation, problem formulation, hypothesis formulation, data collection, hypothesis testing, conclusion formulation, and learning evaluation. Assessment instrumentation included pretests, posttests, reports, and student satisfaction questionnaires. Pretest and posttest data were statistically analyzed with SPSS. The implementation of IBL resulted in an increase in mean scores from 59.82 on the pretest to 92.83 on the posttest. There is a statistically significant difference between these results (Asymp. Sig 0.000). The proportion of student reports rated as excellent 70%, good 20%, and sufficient 5%. Student satisfaction with the learning method reached an average of 93.94%. Inquiry-based learning increases the knowledge of Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program students in the Pharmacy Communication and Health Promotion courses.

Abstract

Based on the evaluation results, there was an increase in the average score of cadres and participants. The average score of posyandu cadres during the pretest was 7.88, increasing to 8.6 in the average score of the posttest, while the average score of posyandu participants during the pretest was 7.2, increasing to 7.9 in the average score of the posttest. The increase that occurred was not very significant (8% for cadres and 7% for participants), this may be because the basic knowledge of both cadres and participants was quite good before being given socialization and education.

Abstract

Preceptors are essential in guiding and being role models for students' knowledge, skills, and practices in implementing pharmacy internship program (PKPA) based on experiential learning. Guidance takes place in a clinical environment in a healthcare system that allows students to experience health services, interact with professional teams, and interact directly with the community. This study analyzes preceptors' perceptions regarding their role as educators in implementing PKPA. This study is a descriptive survey with a cross-sectional design using a questionnaire as an instrument. The study subjects were pharmacists who acted as preceptors in implementing PKPA with a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis used descriptive analysis. The results showed that of the 31 preceptors involved, the majority were female (74.19%), with an age range of 36-45 years (58.07%), and the place of practice was in a health center (58.07%). Preceptors' perceptions regarding the implementation of PKPA are generally positive. Aspects rated high with a score of more than 4 are the aspects of recognition/award, teamwork, communication, preparation, evaluation, appreciation, and the impact of student attendance. Meanwhile, the lowest ratings are in workload (3.75 ± 0.84) and facilities and infrastructure (3.86 ± 0.72). Preceptors provide positive perceptions about their role as educators in implementing the pharmacy internship program.

Abstract

Antibiotic resistance is an escalating global health concern, with Indonesia increasingly reporting resistance across various bacterial species. This trend contributes to rising morbidity and mortality and influences patterns of antibiotic use, highlighting the need for systematic monitoring. The Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical/Defined Daily Dose (ATC/DDD) methodology is a widely accepted standard for evaluating antibiotic consumption and serves as a key indicator of antimicrobial stewardship effectiveness. This study aimed to: (i) identify the most consumed antibiotics based on DDD/1000 outpatient visits, (ii) compare consumption between 2023 and 2024, and (iii) determine the DU90% segment of antibiotic use at Banjarbaru Selatan Health Center. A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional design was conducted from January to May 2025, involving adult outpatients prescribed antibiotics during 2023–2024. Data analysis included DDD/1000 outpatient visit calculations and year-to-year comparisons using the Wilcoxon test. Amoxicillin consistently showed the highest consumption, with 272.94 DDD/1000 outpatient visits in 2023 and 274.26 in 2024. Statistical analysis revealed no significant difference in overall antibiotic use between the two years (p = 0.063). DU90% analysis identified Amoxicillin as the dominant antibiotic in 2023, while Amoxicillin and Cefadroxil led in 2024. Antibiotic consumption at Banjarbaru Selatan Health Center remained stable over the two years, with Amoxicillin as the predominant agent. These findings underscore the importance of routine monitoring using ATC/DDD and DU90% methodologies to inform targeted interventions and enhance antimicrobial resistance control strategies.

Abstract

Inappropriate use of antibiotics due to lack of understanding and public knowledge is one of the causes of antibiotic resistance. Providing education via video to the public is a strategy that can be used to increase knowledge about the use of antibiotics. This study aims to assess the effect of providing local language educational videos about antibiotics and their use on increasing the knowledge and attitudes of women living in the Banjar Regency area, South Kalimantan. This research is Quasi-experimental research with a pretest posttest intervention with a control group research design using a purposive sampling technique and an intervention in the form of educational videos in the Banjar language. A valid and reliable questionnaire was used to assess knowledge and behavior in using antibiotics. Analysis of changes in knowledge and behavior scores between the control and intervention groups was carried out with the Mann-Whitney test. The number of respondents involved in the study was 80 women who were divided into a control group (40 people) and an intervention group (40 people). The results showed that the average pre-test and post-test knowledge scores in the control group (7.58 ± 1.81 and 7.85 ± 2.11) and the intervention group (7.33 ± 2.30 and 8.78 ± 2.93) with a significance value of p = 0.026. The mean scores of pre-test and post-test behavior in the control group (6.03 ± 2.60 and 6.15 ± 2.70) and the intervention group (6.33 ± 2.37 and 7.50 ± 2.05) with a significance value of p = 0.016. It can be concluded that providing educational videos in Banjar language can increase Females knowledge and behavior in using antibiotics in Banjar Regency.
