Abstract

Doubtful finance is the worst nightmare for banks, but this can be avoided if a bank follows a proper strategy to avoid such kind of finance. Due to the violent political crisis in the country, most of the contemporary studies have excluded Syria from their samples. The present study aims to evaluate the performances of Islamic and conventional banks in Syria through a comparative analysis. A secondary aim of this study is to shed some light on the main factors influencing non-performing finance in both Islamic and conventional banks. This study addressed the entire private banking sector in Syria consisting of 11 conventional banks and 3 full-fledged Islamic banks over the period of 2011-2017. To this end, several financial ratios and macroeconomic variables along with independent sample t-test and panel data regression were employed. The results indicated that the Islamic banks were better in terms of assets quality. Panel data regression manifested that gross domestic product growth, exchange rate, finance to deposit ratio, and operating expenses ratio had a significant impact on non-performing finance. This study provides an alluded picture of Syrian private banking sectors that enables authorities to deliberate on the pertinent macroeconomic NPF determinants such as exchange rate and GDP growth.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh langsung media instagram minat beli dan Electronic word of mouth (E-wom) terhadap keputusan pembelian konsumen Restoran Momomilk. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) dimana pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan membagikan kuesioner kepada 110 responden yang pernah berkunjung ke Restoran Momomilk. Hasil kuesioner tersebut diuji menggunakan LISREL 8.72. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa media instagram dan Electronic word of mouth (E-wom) berpengaruh langsung signifikan terhadap minat beli konsumen. Namun, media instagram dan Electronic word of mouth (E-wom) tidak berpengaruh  langsung signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian bahwa adanya variabel mediasi minat beli dapat berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan adanya hasil pada indikator minat beli konsumen berpengaruh langsung signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian di Restoran Momomilk.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui beberapa faktor makroekonomi seperti Indeks Harga onsumen, inflasi, interest rate, nilai tukar dan JII (sebagai Indeks Harga Saham Syariah) sebagai penentu produk pembiayaan Bank Syariah. Sampel data yang digunakan pada penelitian dikategorikan masih update, karena merupakan dari tiga periode terakhir pada tahun politik ini, maka dari itu penelitian ingin mencoba mengemukakan hasil dari beberapa faktor makroekonomi terhadapa penentuan produk pembiayaan, khususnya pada Bank Syariah. Model pada penelitian ini menggunakan Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa faktor inflasi, interest rate, dan nilai tukar mempunyai hubungan yang positif signifikan terhadap penentu produk pembiayaan Bank Syariah Indonesia. Sedangkan faktor Indeks Harga Konsumen dan JII tidak mempunyai hubungan sebagai penentu produk pembiayaan Bank Syariah Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of halal food, Muslim clothing, Islamic finance in the Al-Akbar Mosque as a tourist attraction. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study strategy. The research method used was a case study with a descriptive qualitative approach. This study uses interviews as the primary data collection method. The scope of this research focuses on administrators, visitors, and traders at the Al-Akbar National Mosque in Surabaya. Abstract

The purpose of this paper to investigate macroeconomic indicators affects sharia stock prices in Asia Muslim majority countries. This research used inflation, interest rates and exchange rate in Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh. This research use data panels and multiple linear regression analyses using Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method as parameter. The results shows inflation and exchange rates have no effect in sharia stock prices, while interest rates have negative effect. Implications for investors who want to invest in stocks to attention macroeconomic variables that affect movement of stock price, information that related macroeconomic conditions, information that predict fluctuation stock price. This study has limitations only focus in four countries in Asia and only use three most dominant macro variables. Future research can improved other macroeconomic variables such world oil prices and gross domestic income. Novelty of this research examines the Sharia stock market in Muslim majority countries in Asia.

Abstract

Pemberdayaan ekonomi umat mengacu pada dua teori utama, yaitu aturan Islam dalam aktivitas ekonomi dan teori tentang pemberdayaan masyarakat. Dalam Islam, inti kegiatan ekonomi adalah keadilan. Penegakkan keadilan telah ditekankan oleh al-Qur’an sebagai misi utama para nabi yang diutus Allah SWT, tentunya termasuk penegakan keadilan ekonomi dan penghapusan kesenjangan pendapatan. Indonesia yang merupakan negara berpenduduk terbesar ke- empat di dunia dan mayoritas penduduknya beragama Islam, tentunya harus menjadi kiblat dari ekonomi Islam. Akan tetapi belum begitu banyak masyarakat Indonesia yang mengenal adanya ekonomi Islam dikarenakan sistem ekonomi konvensional yang telah begitu lama berkuasa di negeri ini. Oleh karena itu diperlukan peran serta dari pemerintah dan unsur- unsur masyarakat seperti organisasi kemasyarakatan yang berbasis agama dan lembaga-lembaga swadaya masyarakat yang peduli terhadap ekonomi Islam dan memiliki akses informasi yang luas kepada masyarakat. Lembaga keuangan mikro syariah yang beroperasi di Indonesia umumnya berbadan hukum koperasi jasa keuangan syariah (KJKS) dan baitul maal wat tamwil (BMT).

Abstract

This paper presents the most recent works on cash Waqf, focusing on identifying contemporary scholars' work in this area, providing a novel framework to indicate the existing gap, subsequently, it opens the door wider for new research commitment. This research adopts the paradigm of qualitative approach research, based on disk-based research. Google Scholar was employed, searching through the passage. Only contemporary English documents within the period of 2002-2019 were the subject of this study. Lately, cash Waqf has been proven as a proper method for poverty alleviation. Previous studies attempted to address several models in order to enhance socio-economics issues. This research is a distinct attempt, as to the best of our knowledge, there is no previous research addressed the subject matter. Moreover, this study is expected to assist the interested scholars by offering comprehensive conclusion about have been done in the field. Hence, opens new doors for scholars to develop new innovative cash Waqf models to bridge the socio-economic issues. Our findings depict that Malaysian and Indonesian scholars show a robust research commitment on cash Waqf during 2002-2019. Furthermore, this study highlights the existing gap that must be researched to enrich the potentials of cash Waqf, future research should address other countries practices in term of cash Waqf, moreover, validating a proposed model through interviews to ensure that a proposed model is applicable. In terms of cash Waqf awareness, research might consider peer influence”, “self-efficacy in contributing to cash Waqf.

Abstract

The prime goal of the present literature is to examine the role of risk management culture along with re-engineering, collaboration and supply chain management on the firm performance along with the competitive advantage of the Islamic banks in Indonesia. The data has been used for analysis are collected through questionnaires from the employee of Islamic banks that are connected to the supply chain process while smart-PLS has been used to analyze this data. The results revealed that all the predictors such as risk management culture, re-engineering, collaboration and supply chain management have a positive association with firm performance along with the competitive advantage of the Islamic banks in Indonesia. These findings are suitable for the policymakers who want to develop policies for banking sector related to supply chain and firm performance along with the new research who want to investigate this topic in future.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to understand perception of conventional banks’ customers towards Islamic banking by examining their level of awareness about Islamic banking. The qualitative approach was used in the form of semi-structured interviews under the phenomenological approach in Damascus city. The main findings of this research are customers lack awareness of Islamic banking operations. Furthermore, Islamic banks’ stuff play a crucial rule to enhance awareness and willingness towards their services. This study revealed that an informative advertising campaign is highly recommended to raise the awareness level among Syrians towards Islamic banking. Moreover, Islamic banks should be more selective especially when they recruit customer service operation staff. This research is a pioneering attempt towards Islamic banking issues in the case of Syria from a customer perspective. It contributes to the Syrian perceptions towards Islamic banking literature.

Abstract

Website-based accountability is the right choice for zakat institutions to increase the positive image of the public. This study aims to reveal how zakat institutions use the website in disclosing public accountability. This research is a qualitative research with a content analysis technique approach to test how big the accountability index is based on the zakat institution website. The research sample consisted of 26 zakat institutions at the national level in Indonesia. Inter-rater analysis techniques are used to test data reliability. The results reveal that the practice of website-based accountability in zakat institutions in Indonesia is still low. This can be seen from the three-dimensional score, namely 43% transparency, 34% accountability, and 27% responsibility and the total score on the average website-based accountability index only gets a score of 299 out of 637 or 43%. The implication of this research is that the use of websites as a means of delivering public accountability can increase public integrity and trust in zakat institutions.
