Abstract

The preservation of the long-tailed macaque's natural food supplies is one way to help conservation efforts for the species, as it ensures that there are enough food sources to sustain its survival. Managers can implement habitat development through food source augmentation when food supplies are scarce. This study aims to determine the food preferences of long-tailed monkeys and also to determine the plants that are the food sources of long-tailed macaque. The research method uses the line transect method to determine the presence of long-tailed macaque, and the distribution of food sources uses the grid line method. The results found that the food tree with the highest level of use 29% (the most consumed part is fruit) is (Diospyros macrophylla) and the lowest (gmelina arborea) 2% (the part consumed is young leaves/shoots). The most consumed part of the plant is fruit 51%, followed by leaves 47%, and flowers 2%, indicating a tendency for frugivory. Feeding activities are carried out at three main times: morning (06.35 – 10.45), afternoon (12.07 – 15.00), and evening (15.00 – 16.15) following a diurnal pattern, (Tamarindus indica), (Artocarpus heterophyllus), and (Pterospermum javanicum) have a high level of mastery based on the INP. Long-tailed macaque food trees in the Kerandangan TWA Utilization Block have a clustered pattern, with a Morisita Index value for all observed species. Conclusion, regular monitoring of the population and food sources of long-tailed macaque food is needed in the future to see the ecological dynamics that occur.

Abstract

The increase in the number of tourists in 2023, based on data from KPH Rinjani Barat, is 36,788 visits per year. Large and continuous tourist visits to a certain area can have negative impacts on the environment and the visitors themselves. This study aims to assess the carrying capacity of the Aik Nyet natural tourist area to ensure it can support ongoing visitor activities. The tools used in this study include writing materials, GPS, questionnaires, raffia ropes, and tally sheets. The materials used in this research include area maps, bio-physical conditions, visitor information, and vegetation data in the Aik Nyet tourist area. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were employed in this study. The findings show that the physical carrying capacity (PCC) is 25,232 people. The real carrying capacity (RCC) can accommodate 24,663 people, and the effective carrying capacity (ECC) can support 9,865 people. Monitoring of the water quality in the area is recommended.

Abstract

The increase in greenhouse gases will affect the level of global warming, which is one of the factors causing climate change. The greenhouse gas that has the biggest impact on increasing Earth's temperature is carbon dioxide (CO2). The method for taking sample plots applied in this research is the systematic sampling method with random start, which is point processing which is carried out in a varied or random manner at the start of data collection and then systematically with the distance between plots being balanced. Determining the number of sampling plots refers to the National Forest Inventory (IHN) which states that the minimum limit accepted for sampling intensity is 1%. Therefore, the use of higher sampling in a study will increase the level of accuracy. The reason why candlenuts have a high biomass value is because the average diameter is larger than other types, namely more larger than 35 cm and if the density of Candlenut has a high value this will affect the biomass value to be even higher. This is in accordance with, It is said that tree biomass is calculated using the allometric equation. The carbon value and biomass value of trees will weaken closely, the greater the biomass value, the higher the carbon value. This is due to the stipulated value of 47% carbon content and organic material which is the reason behind this. Based on research findings regarding estimates of above-ground carbon reserves on Mount Sasak, West Lombok Regency, there are carbon reserves of 21,954 tonnes/ha and overall biomass of 46,719 tonnes/ha.
