This research aims to reveal the positive side of teenagers from broken home families regarding the factors that influence the formation of resilience in broken home teenagers so that they are able to survive in unpleasant conditions. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method regarding the factors that develop resilience. Collection is carried out through interviews, observation and documentation. The participants in this research were two teenagers from a broken home (divorce and no parental role). The research results show that the factors that influence resilience are emotional regulation, controlling impulses, optimism, ability to analyze problems, empathy, self-efficacy, and increasing positive aspects. Based on the research results, it is hoped that guidance and counseling teachers will be able to develop resilience, especially in indicators of optimism, so that they can face life's challenges better.

Abstract

The Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (CFI) is a short 20-item self-report questionnaire that can be used to measure individual cognitive flexibility in thinking adaptively to an ever-changing environment. This study aims to develop a cognitive flexibility inventory instrument in the Indonesian context and test the instrument using Rasch modeling analysis. The research method used was a survey with a cross-sectional survey design. The research sample was 170 students of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. The research instrument used is the Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (CFI) adapted from Dennis & Vander Wal (2010) and has been translated from English to Indonesian. The results showed that the development of the Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (CFI) instrument based on Rasch modeling analysis has excellent instrument reliability with a Cronbach alpha value of 0.87 logits, and CFI can measure what should be measured in this study, namely cognitive flexibility in students. For this reason, the development of the CFI instrument in Indonesian produced good results and has the potential to be widely implemented in the university environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the validity and reliability of the academic hardiness scale that has been developed in the context of Indonesian culture. This research method used a survey with a quantitative approach to 50 students at the University of West Sulawesi. The data analysis technique was carried out using the Rasch Model. The results of the study showed that this academic hardiness scale was quite good at describing the profile of students' academic hardiness with a raw variance explained value of 38.8%. This scale was also reliable, with a person reliability value of 0.94 and an item reliability of 0.95, which reflects the consistency of the measurement. These findings have significant implications for further research in developing a guidance and counseling service program model that is more responsive to the needs of students in higher education, which is based on empirical evidence. This can be achieved by producing a consistent measurement scale to provide accurate information regarding the profile of students' academic hardiness in higher education.

Abstract

Academic stress is a prevalent psychological concern among junior high school students, particularly due to the increasing academic demands and the widespread adoption of online learning. This form of stress can impair students' academic performance and compromise their psychological well-being. Consequently, there is a growing need for counseling interventions that are both effective and adaptable to the digital learning environment. The present study examines the effectiveness of online Solution Focused Brief Counseling (SFBC) in alleviating academic stress in junior high school students. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group structure, the study involved 10 students assigned to either an experimental or a control group. The experimental group participated in four online counseling sessions, while the control group received no intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Given the small sample size, non-parametric analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test to compare pretest and posttest scores in the experimental group. Results demonstrated a significant reduction in academic stress scores within the experimental group, decreasing from an average of 120.8 to 101.6, whereas the control group exhibited an increase from 128.6 to 131.8. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test yielded a statistically significant result (p = 0.042, p < 0.05), confirming the efficacy of the intervention. These findings suggest that online SFBC represents a viable and effective counseling strategy for mitigating academic stress among junior high school students, offering a flexible psychological intervention well-suited to the demands of distance learning and digital education contexts

Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze factors that contribute to academic hardiness in students with the 3C of Hardiness concept which includes aspects of commitment, control and challenge. The method used in this research is a cross-sectional survey with a quantitative approach, where data is collected using a standardized academic hardiness scale. The research sample consisted of 500 students spread across three state universities in West Sulawesi province. Data analysis was carried out using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to test the validity and contribution of each factor. The research results show that the control aspect is the factor that makes the biggest contribution to academic hardiness, with a standardized variance coefficient value of 0.605. Meanwhile, the social support indicator has the greatest influence, with a value of 0.854. These findings provide a basis for further research in designing guidance and counseling service models based on empirical evidence, by considering the main factors that contribute significantly to student academic hardiness. Apart from that, the results of this research can be a guide for guidance and counseling staff in designing more adaptive services, according to student needs.
