Abstract

This study aims to analyze the feasibility of an e-magazine on the inhibitory activity of Pontianak's siam orange peel extract against Bacillus cereus in the subtopic of bacterial roles. This research employs a quantitative descriptive method with several stages including e-magazine development, e-magazine validation, and data analysis. Validation activities consist of instrument validation by 2 validators and media validation by 5 validators. Validation was conducted using a closed-ended questionnaire validation sheet. E-magazine media validation assesses three aspects: format, content, and language. The validation results were analyzed using Aiken’s V formula and reliability testing using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). The study shows that the developed e-magazine meets Aiken’s V standard with a score of 0.92 and a reliability coefficient of 0.893, categorized as good, thus suitable for use as a learning medium. This e-magazine is complemented with appealing visualizations to provide a unique learning experience for students studying the bacterial roles subtopic.

Abstract

Educators utilise learning models and media to improve students’ understanding of the material. This study aims to enhance students’ learning process and learning outcomes by using the Powtoon-based Problem Based Learning paradigm on respiratory system information. This research is a Classroom Action Research with a two-cycle design. Each learning cycle includes planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were students of SMP Negeri 12 Sungai Raya class VIII B in the 2023/2024 school year, with a sample size of 29 people. The instruments of this study were observation sheets and learning outcome tests. The purpose of the test sheet is to measure students’ understanding of the material discussed in class, while the observation sheet sees how well the learning objectives are achieved. The data collection strategies used in this study were tests, observations, and documentation. The results of the learning implementation process were obtained at 92.26% in cycle I and 95.64% in cycle II. Student learning outcomes increased by 86.20% in cycle II from 77.59% in cycle I. Therefore, it can be concluded that learning using the Powtoon-based Problem Based Learning model can improve the learning implementation process and student learning outcomes on respiratory system material.

Abstract

The development of test instruments to measure students' decision-making abilities is rarely used in learning. This research aims to develop a complex thinking test instrument for decision-making aspects of environmental change topics. This type of research is research and development (R&D) using a 4-D model modified to 3-D (definition, design, and development) and combined with test instrument development using six stages. Interviews, test instrument validation sheets, and tests were conducted during research data collection. The test instrument developed consisted of 12 descriptive questions and was tested on 363 high school students. Data analysis consisted of content validity, inter-rater reliability, and Rasch analysis. Before the test instrument was tested, it was validated by seven experts. The research results show that the content validity analysis developed is valid because of V-count =0.94 > (V-table =0.76). Interrater reliability analysis obtained a value of 0.806, categorized as good. Item validity (item fit) shows 12 valid questions. The difficulty level of the questions (item measure) shows that three questions are challenging, three are complicated, four are easy, and two are straightforward. Reliability shows an excellent Cronbach's alpha value (0.89), a reasonable person reliability value (0.85), and an excellent item reliability value (0.98). Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan pemahaman konsep siswa sebelum dan sesudah penerapan model pembelajaran flippedclassroom pada pembelajaran Biologi di SMA Negeri 1 Tayan Hulu. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain quasi eksperimen yang melibatkan dua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen yang menerapkan model pembelajaran flipped class dan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penilaian pretest dan posttest. Uji normalitas dan homogenitas menunjukkan bahwa data memenuhi syarat analisis parametrik. Hasil uji Paired Samples T-Test menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada kelas eksperimen dengan perbedaan rata-rata sebesar 25,44. Sedangkan uji Independent Samples T-Test menunjukkan adanya perbedaan hasil posttest antara kedua kelas, dengan nilai signifikansi p = 0,006. Hasil temuan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran flipped class berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran konvensional. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah model flippedclassroom yang layak untuk diterapkan sebagai salah satu alternatif strategi pembelajaran yang efektif dalam mendukung pemahaman konsep siswa khususnya pada mata pelajaran Biologi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai media pembelajaran konvensional dan media pembelajaran digital. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan gambaran tentang media pembelajaran konvensional dan media pembelajaran digital. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kepustakaan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan membaca jurnal, buku atau sumber yang lain terkait media pembelajaran konvensional dan digital. Referensi yang digunakan mencakup 2 buku, 10 artikel ilmiah, dan 1 disertasi yang diterbitkan dalam rentang tahun 2014 hingga 2022. Studi kepustakaan ini dilakukan untuk memahami secara lebih mendalam mengenai media pembelajaran konvensional dan digital. Hasil penelitian dapat memberikan pemahaman yang lebih baik menyangkut jenis-jenis, kekurangan dan kelebihan, serta bagaimana media pembelajaran konvensional dan media pembelajaran digital dapat memengaruhi proses pembelajaran di kelas. Berdasarkan penelitian didapatkan bahwa media konvensional terdiri dari media grafis, media tiga dimensi, penggunaan lingkungan, dan media berbasis cetakan. Sedangkan media digital dapat berupa media pembelajaran jarak jauh, media digital, media pembelajaran terjemahan bahasa, dan media pembelajaran berbasis video audio visual. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa media pembelajaran konvensional dan digital masing-masing memiliki karateristik, kelebihan, dan kekurangan yang menjadi pembeda  dari setiap media.

Abstract

Perencanaan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran memiliki peranan penting dalam menentukan pemilihan media pembelajaran yang sesuai. Pembuatan artikel ini bertujuan untuk menyoroti ciri-ciri, peran, dan manfaat media pembelajaran dalam mencapai kualitas pendidikan yang lebih baik, serta memberikan perspektif evolusi media pembelajaran seiring perkembangan teknologi dengan fokus pada keterampilan guru dalam mengintegrasikan media untuk mencapai tujuan pembelajaran. Metode untuk memilih media pembelajaran dengan pendekatan studi literasi. Pemilihan media pembelajaran yang benar akan meningkatkan pemahaman peserta didik dan komunikasi yang baik antara peserta didik dan pendidik. Dengan pemilihan media pembelajaran yang tepat, tentunya dapat menciptakan proses pembelajaran yang efektif, memperkuat pemahaman siswa, dan memberikan wawasan baru yang mendukung keberhasilan dalam belajar. Oleh karena itu, penting sekali untuk memilih media pembelajaran yang cocok agar mencapai hasil pembelajaran yang maksimal.

Abstract

  Tumbuhan Bajakah merupakan habitus liana yaitu sekelompok tumbuhan merambat yang berakar di dalam tanah, dalam pertumbuhannya tumbuhan bajakah menggunakan berbagai jenis pohon untuk merambat. Bajakah yang sering digunakan oleh masyarakat Kabupaten Landak di Provinsi Kalimantan Barat ini dipercaya memiliki khasiat obat yang diolah secara tradisional. Untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman jenis tumbuhan di suatu tempat atau kawasan tertentu perlu dilakukan inventarisasi. Pentingnya untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman jenis, dan belum adanya data mengenai inventarisasi tanaman bajakan yang ada, maka peneliti ingin melakukan penelitian di kawasan hutan yang terletak di Dusun Sadok Kabupaten Landak, karena tumbuhan bajakan masih mudah didapatkan. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Agustus-September 2022, dimulai dengan pengambilan sampel, pembuatan herbarium, identifikasi dan analisis data kuantitatif menggunakan metode zig-zag, dengan jalur jelajah yaitu 10 meter (ke kiri), dan 10 meter (ke kanan) yang dibuat dengan lebar 20 meter. Dari hasil pengukuran faktor lingkungan diperoleh pada suhu udara 26 (°C), suhu tanah 26-27-9 (°C), kelembapan udara 27,1-29 ,1 (%), pH tanah 6,5-6,6, intensitas cahaya 27,0-29,1 (lux). Tumbuhan bajakah banyak ditemukan pada habitat menopang. Diketahui tumbuhan bajakah yang ditemukan pada kawasan Hutan yang berada di Dusun Sadok Kabupaten Landak masuk kedalam sembilan 9 Famili, 11 spesies, dan 1 genus.   Kata Kunci: Tumbuhan Bajakah, Liana, Inventarisasi, Kawasan Hutan

Abstract

The Ingenhousz photosynthesis experiment conducted in schools aims to verify the concept of plants producing oxygen. However, opportunities to develop students’ quantitative literacy and train science process skills (SPSs) remain limited, as photosynthesis experiments commonly employed in schools are predominantly qualitative. This research aimed to develop an alternative photosynthesis laboratory activity design (LAD) based on an analysis of existing LADs to enhance students’ quantitative literacy and SPSs. Using the Research and Development (R&D) method, this research focused on the effect of color spectra on photosynthetic rate—an aspect that presents novelty of this research. The existing LADs were analyzed in terms of relevance, competence, knowledge construction, and practical aspects, resulting in 83.3% (very good), 43.1% (fair), 58.3% (fair), and 55.6% (fair), respectively. The analysis results of these four aspects are the basis for developing the alternative LAD. The alternative LAD was developed and then validated, resulting in a validity value of 0.915, which is categorized as valid. The alternative LAD trial demonstrated that it can collect quantitative data and enhance students’ quantitative literacy and SPSs, with the blue light spectrum producing the highest photosynthetic rate at 0.4 ml/g. The quantitative literacy-based LAD fosters data-driven thinking crucial for future scientific inquiry. This supports cultivating more analytically skilled students equipped to face real-world environmental and scientific challenges.

Abstract

Codiaeum variegatum (L.) Rumph. ex a. Juss is a common ornamental plant with a high variation of leaves shape and colour. This study aimed to analyze the leaves’ anatomy and the phenetic relationship between eight cultivars of C. variegatum which were defined by the differences in leaf morphology. The paraffin method prepared the transversal section of leaves, and anatomical characters were converted into binary data to calculate the similarity coefficient which was analyzed by Numerical Taxonomy System (NTSYS) 2.1 version. Leaves of eight cultivars of C. variegatum are varied in the anatomical structure of the primary vein and lamina. The eight cultivars of C. variegatum were clustered into four. The variations were found in 19 primary vein and lamina anatomy characteristics and the similarity coefficient is up to 0.59 between all cultivars. It can be concluded that the combination of leaf anatomical structures and midrib anatomical characters have notable taxonomic implications for future research.

Abstract

The utilization of learning media is one of the alternatives to increase knowledge for students, especially biology learning. In addition, student character can be improved through media in which there is character insertion. Thus, an innovative learning media is needed to improve knowledge and character through character-based comics on environmental conservation submaterial. This research method is a quantitative experiment, with a pretest-posttest control group research design. The sample consisted of 28 control class students and 30 experimental class students. The instruments were 20 multiple choice questions and 22 character questionnaire statements. Data analysis techniques include knowledge assessment measured using the Independent samples t-test formula. The results of data analysis showed that the knowledge of experimental class students increased significantly, the learning outcomes in the experimental class showed a higher average of 86.67 while the control class was 74.46, the average difference in learning outcomes between experimental and control classes was evidenced by the independent samples t-test test value of 0.00 <0.05, and student character showed a percentage of 81.44% in the excellent category. It is concluded that character-based comic media on environmental conservation submaterial can help improve cognitive learning outcomes and student character.
