Abstract

Medicinal plants are all types of plants that have medicinal benefits and contain nutrients that are proven to be good for health through the availability of phytochemicals. The use of medicinal plants in the community has existed since ancient times used as traditional medicine. In the community, the use of medicinal plants is still carried out today both as an alternative treatment and as a complement to modern medicine. Information related to medicinal plants carried out by the people of Sepangah Village is also not widely known, therefore a study was conducted which aims to determine the types of medicinal plants used by the people of Sepangah Village for reproductive health. This research method is descriptive with data collection techniques using triangulation in the form of interviews, observation, and documentation. Research information was obtained from 7 informants consisting of 1 village head, 2 battra, and 4 people who still utilize medicinal plants. The results showed that 18 species from 11 plant families were used for reproductive health. The most widely used plants are from the Zingiberaceae family. The most widely used plant part is the rhizome. The most widely used way of processing plants is boiled. The most widely used way of using plants is drinking. Treatment in reproductive health that is often done is to treat vaginal discharge and smooth postpartum blood in mothers after childbirth

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a printed magazine as a learning medium based on local potential that integrates morphological and phylogenetic characterization of fungi as a contextual learning resource. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach following the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), with the scope limited to the needs analysis, design, and development stages. The primary focus of the study was to produce a theoretically valid and feasible instructional product. Media feasibility was evaluated through expert validation involving five specialists using an assessment instrument covering language, content, and graphical aspects. Content validity was analyzed using the Content Validity Ratio (CVR). The results demonstrated a mean CVR value of 0.99, indicating a very high level of validity across all assessed aspects. The developed magazine was found to present scientific information systematically, align with the Biology curriculum, and effectively represent local potential as a contextual learning resource. These findings suggest that locally based magazines constitute a feasible instructional innovation for enriching biodiversity education.

Abstract

Biology learning emphasizes analytical, inductive, and deductive thinking to address problems related to the surrounding environment. Effective biology education is influenced by various factors, including students, educators, learning environments, and the availability of laboratory facilities. Well-equipped and professionally managed laboratories play a crucial role in supporting hands-on science learning. However, disparities in laboratory equipment availability across schools potentially lead to unequal learning outcomes. This study aimed to describe the profile of the biology laboratory at SMA Negeri 1 Pemangkat. The research was conducted from November to December 2024 using a survey method with a quantitative descriptive approach. The research sample consisted of the head of the biology laboratory. The findings show that all aspects of the laboratory room met the standards of Permendikbud No. 8 of 2018. However, several components related to the storage of laboratory tools and materials did not meet the required standards. These included unlocked material storage cabinets, insufficient equipment storage capacity, and unlabeled tools. Overall, the laboratory facilities and infrastructure scored between 69% and 100%, while laboratory management aspects ranged from 29% to 100%. These results highlight the need for improved storage management to ensure better laboratory functionality and support biology learning.

Abstract

Abstract

The E-magazine is an innovative, technology-based learning media that is expected to enhance the effectiveness of Biology education. This study aims to develop and analyze the feasibility of an e-magazine on conventional biotechnology based on the proximate analysis of cincalok fermentation. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method, involving stages of proximate analysis, design, development, and validation. The proximate analysis of cincalok revealed a moisture content of 8.88%, ash 11.30%, fat 4.35%, protein 35.27%, and carbohydrate 40.20%. These factual data were integrated as the scientific content of the e-magazine to provide contextual learning materials. Validation by five experts yielded a Content Validity Ratio (CVR) of 1.00 and a Content Validity Index (CVI) of 1.00 across all aspects, including format, content, and language. Based on these results, the e-magazine is concluded to be a highly valid and feasible digital learning medium. This media serves as a scientifically-grounded resource to support biotechnology education by utilizing local potential.

Abstract

The practicum guide is a guideline for conducting practicum activities. Cincalok was chosen as the practicum guide because of its closeness to the local wisdom of the students, so that the concept of conventional biotechnology can be understood contextually. The use of locally-based fermented products supports relevant learning, and strengthens students' appreciation of local culture and food resources. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of teaching materials for practical guides on conventional biotechnology sub-material regarding the results of physical, chemical, and organoleptic tests of cincalok in West Kalimantan. The research design used was quantitative descriptive. The feasibility test was conducted in three stages, namely instrument validation, media validation, and data analysis. The validators consisted of five people, namely two lecturers from the Biology Education Study Program and three biology teachers from grade X high school. The validation results obtained a CVR value of 0.99 and a CVI value of 0.99, indicating that all aspects of the practical guide assessment were valid. This shows that the practical guide that was created met the criteria in terms of format, language, and content. The practical guide that met the validity criteria could be used in the next stage to evaluate its effectiveness.
