Abstract

Background. Achievement motivation plays a crucial role in the performance of martial arts athletes and should be closely monitored and assessed by coaches. However, the absence of a specific instrument to measure achievement motivation in Setia Hati Terate athletes has made it difficult for coaches to evaluate their athletes"™ motivational levels effectively. Objectives. This study is part of a broader evaluation aimed at testing the validity and reliability of an achievement motivation questionnaire specifically designed for adult Pencak Silat practitioners. Methods. The study involved 162 participants, comprising 79 male and 83 female martial artists. A research instrument is a tool used to gather data in order to address research problems or meet study objectives. If the collected data are not accurate (i.e., valid), any conclusions or decisions based on them will also be flawed. In this study, a closed-ended questionnaire consisting of 14 items was used. Data analysis was conducted using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). CFA conclusions are drawn based on various fit indices, including chi-square (χ ²), degrees of freedom (df), Comparative Fit Index (CFI), Tucker-Lewis Index (TLI), Goodness-of-Fit Index (GFI), Standardized Root Mean Residual (SRMR), Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA), factor loading (λ), Average Variance Extracted (AVE), and Cronbach's alpha. Results. According to the fit indices shown, the chi-square test yielded a p-value < 0.001, indicating a significant relationship between the factors. These indicators confirm the model"™s good fit. Further analysis of factor loadings and reliability metrics indicates that the instrument is both valid and reliable, supporting its use in assessing achievement motivation among adult martial arts practitioners. Conclusion. Achievement motivation is essential for martial artists striving to reach their full potential. Therefore, evaluating motivation levels should be an integral part of every stage in the training program, using instruments that are both valid and reliable. This study serves as a foundation for the ongoing development of assessment tools in the martial arts field.

Abstract

This study used a survey approach to determine the fitness and health conditions of retired martial artists and the relationship between the two. A total of 33 subjects, consisting of 17 retired male martial artists and 16 retired female martial artists, participated in this study. The instruments used in this study were a fitness test battery and the General Health Questionnaire 12 (GHQ-12). The fitness test battery consisted of five test items, namely Body Mass Index (BMI), sit and reach (flexibility), 1-minute push-ups (arm and chest muscle strength), 1-minute sit-ups (abdominal muscle strength), and a 12-minute run (cardiovascular endurance). The data analysis techniques in this study used descriptive statistics, percentage formulas, and correlations. The analysis was performed using MS Excel and JASP. Nearly half of retired martial artists, both female and male, had poor physical fitness levels, while the majority of retired martial artists showed signs of psychological distress. There is a relationship between fitness levels and the psychological health of retired martial artists. The results of this study indicate the importance of developing educational programs for retired athletes to maintain physical fitness and psychological health in future studies.

Abstract

Background: Athletes with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries often reduce or stop sports participation due to fear of re-injury and low confidence in their injured knee. While most studies emphasize physical recovery, fewer explore how subjective knee function affects psychological readiness to return to sport. Objectives: This study aims to determine the contribution of self-reported knee symptoms and function (subjective assessment) to psychological readiness to return to sport after ACL injury with operative and non-operative treatment. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 40 participants who met the inclusion criteria for post-ACL injury, both operative and non-operative. Data were collected using the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC 2000) questionnaire for subjective knee function and the Anterior Cruciate Ligament–Return to Sport after Injury (ACL-RSI) scale for psychological readiness. A simple linear regression test was conducted with a 95% confidence interval. Finding/Results: The mean IKDC score was 69.80 ± 12.53 and the mean ACL-RSI score was 58.43 ± 19.12. The regression analysis showed a significant positive relationship between subjective knee function and psychological readiness to return to sport (r = 0.61, p < 0.05), with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.373. Conclusion: Subjective knee function significantly influences psychological readiness to return to sport after an ACL injury. Enhancing knee function through targeted rehabilitation programs may improve athletes’ confidence and reduce fear of re-injury, facilitating a safer and more effective return to sport.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: This paper will examine the evolution of wearable technology in postural monitoring and correction in a systematic study. Both Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar databases were searched on with relevant keywords. Method: The PRISMA flow was used to select the articles, and 37 empirical and 13 non-empirical studies were finally included in the analysis. Result: The findings of the research indicate that wearable posture monitoring has now come a long way as a mere one-sensor device to a multi-sensor system together with high-tech digital technology. IMU sensors, acceleration, gyroscopes, and pressure sensors are used in most wearable devices and are capable of detecting the change of posture in real-time. They have a biofeedback system which applies vibration, sound or displays. Wearable postures are not meant to be used in general. Nevertheless, they are customized to meet the special requirements of user groups including office employees, those with neurological conditions, those with low back pain, medical professionals and students. The non-empirical type of studies under analysis also play a significant role in enhancing the theoretical basis of wearable posture development, especially sensor design, technology integration, and user comfort. These results indicate that wearable posture technology can be immensely useful in supplementing postural disorder prevention and rehabilitation programs in many fields. Conclusion: The present study suggests creating wearable posture-based systems on artificial intelligence and cloud-based monitoring, which are more adaptive and personalized and proposes long-term research with randomized controlled trial designs to assess the effectiveness of interventions continuously. Keywords: Biofeedback, Posture Correction, Posture Monitoring, Wearable Posture, Wearable Technology
