Abstract

Purpose: The large number of psychiatric cases experienced by teenagers today raises great concerns about their future. To overcome this, there are many things that can be done, one of which is art therapy. Balian River in Pupuan Village, Tabanan, Bali, Indonesia, was used as a source of inspiration for the creation of neurological music with the title Jantra Bhinawa. This study was created to analyze Balian River as an inspiration for the creation of Jantra Bhinawa neurological music for the benefit of art therapy itself. Reseach methods: This creation uses a method of creating works of art based on qualitative and quantitative research. Data collection was carried out by means of surveys, literature studies, interviews, noise measurements and frequency measurements. Results and discussion: One part of art therapy that can be applied is low frequency music therapy such as red or brown noise. Noise is useful for improving concentration and sound sleep. This is generally produced by natural sounds such as waterfalls and river water in Balian River. Implication: Neo-Guntang as a medium of expression uses a neurological musical approach framed by karawitan artwork to convey the ideas of Balian River itself.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to develop teaching materials for vocal instructors in order to improve the musicality of early childhood through basic vocal technique training at Debeat Music Course. Research methods: It uses a qualitative method with a case study approach and data collection techniques in the form of participatory observation. This study involved early childhood who participated in the vocal training program at Debeat Music Course as the main subjects. Results and discussion: With the right and structured teaching standards, children's musical abilities at Debeat Music Course can develop optimally according to their level of development. This can be seen in the increase in their ability to recognize tones, basic vocal techniques, and musical expression. Implication: This study shows the importance of developing teaching materials that are appropriate to the child's developmental stage and the preparation of a systematic curriculum to support optimal musical development in early childhood.

Abstract

Kesadaran dan minat siswa SMP di Denpasar terhadap lagu wajib nasional menurun akibat berbagai faktor. Menanggapi hal ini, Tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ISI Bali melaksanakan pelatihan “Lagu Wajib Nasional dan Teknik Vokal sebagai Penguat Rasa Kebangsaan” di SMP Negeri 6 Denpasar selama empat bulan (Agustus–November 2025). Metode yang digunakan meliputi workshop, diskusi sejarah dan nilai kebangsaan, praktik langsung, serta evaluasi dengan strategi Component Display Theory (CDT) yang terdiri dari fase presentasi, praktik, dan uji unjuk kerja. Hasil kegiatan meliputi peningkatan kemampuan guru dalam teknik vokal lagu wajib nasional, publikasi artikel ilmiah, modul pelatihan teknik vokal, video dokumentasi pelatihan, dan penguatan jaringan MGMP seni budaya antar guru. Implikasi kegiatan ini adalah terbangunnya fondasi berkelanjutan untuk program kebangsaan berbasis seni musik serta tersedianya laporan dan publikasi sederhana sebagai penunjang keberlanjutan program.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of music on the psychological aspects of teenagers involved in coaching at Corpus Christi Lawang in Malang District, East Java, Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative approach using observation, interview, and literature study data collection techniques. The findings of this study highlight that music influences various psychological aspects of adolescents, including mood, behavior, self-identity, and social interactions. The results of this research provide an in-depth understanding of the role of music in the development of the young generation in Corpus Christi Lawang. The practical implications of this research can help foundation administrators design more effective coaching programs by utilizing music's power to influence adolescent psychology positively. Music's influence on adolescent psychology at Corpus Christi Lawang aims to influence a person's emotions and provide calm to the subconscious (id) which can be controlled and build emotional, spiritual, and social structures in the rhythm of music when listening and expressing it.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a reference regarding the methods or techniques used by a Balinese Gamelan music composer in depicting a water character. Qualitative research is used because it is an appropriate type of research where the data obtained is a description of the condition of an object being studied. The data collection techniques used in this research are literature study, observation, interviews and documentation. There are several strategies that can be used to depict the character of water, which the composer previously used in the work “Tabuh Kreasi Tirta Pemutih”, such as processing the battens found in Balinese Gamelan as a medium for speaking, ornamenting the playing patterns of the instruments, and utilizing various song genres that can be played by Gamelan Semarandana. This study contributes to providing thoughts or points of view regarding strategies or techniques that can be used in depicting the character of water in a Balinese karawitan musical composition using gamelan as a medium for expression.

Abstract

The writers conducted the process of observation, literature study, and interviews with the head of Karang Boma Studio, Pecatu Village to get information related to the Kecak performance at Uluwatu Temple. The uniqueness of this Kecak art can be seen in the presentation that uses human voice accompaniment. Processing melodies and interlocking cak patterns really requires strong breathing. The aesthetic value can be seen from the wholeness in the presentation of Kecak which is presented in its entirety with the patterns arranged in the Kecak's vowels by highlighting the harmonious vocal processing techniques between plain and sangsih cak. The balance in the presentation of Kecak is seen from the melody processing and cak pattern pronunciation that is dynamically balanced and does not occur as a dominant one.

Abstract

Purpose: This research was conducted to show that there are many dimensions of creativity that can develop in the form of creating new Gender Wayang works. This can be observed through one of Gender Wayang's new works entitled “Tipat Taluh”. Research methods: The research method used is a qualitative research method. Data collection was carried out by observation, interviews, and document studies. Results and discussion: Departing from in-depth analysis processes, the result was that “Tipat Taluh”'s work is a new musical composition for Gender Wayang where the big idea is based on philosophical thoughts which have implications for the discovery of a new form and method of composition for Gender Wayang. With the concept of balance and simplicity of “Tipat Taluh” (egg-shaped ketupat), Gusti Komin Darta (composer) transformed these concepts into a new work on Gender Wayang. The updates carried out clearly have a tendency towards processing musical patterns as well as a new system of forming intertwining (kotekan). Implications: The balance of aspects of preservation and development of Gender Wayang will have a positive impact if both are in balance, preservation through contestation, while development by fostering the creation of new works on Gender Wayang.

Abstract

Motivation can influence human behavior in ways such as increasing enthusiasm, passion, and fulfilling one's own needs to achieve certain goals. Needs at the lowest level are physiological needs, while needs at the highest level are self-actualization needs proposed by Abraham Maslow in his hierarchy of needs theory. The results of this research are that the needs of students are met in the process of learning musical arts in extracurricular karawitan activities at SMP Negeri 1 Kubutambahan, namely: (1) Physiological needs; (2) Security needs; (3) The need for belonging and affection; (4) Reward needs; and (5) Self-actualization needs. This research was designed using qualitative research methods with Abraham Maslow's motivation theory approach and an analytical descriptive approach, meaning that the results of the discussion in this research are described in the form of words or sentences according to data that has been obtained from various sources. The data collection method used was complete participant observation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT           The Megoak-goakan tradition from a Panji Village is played with Balaganjur Teruna Goak music, both of which are very interesting when they are transformed into jazz because they have the same basic musical form. This article aims to provide an overview of the process of transformation of Balaganjur Teruna Goak Village in Panji Village into jazz music. The process of transformation into jazz music was carried out with the creation method of exploratory which began with a literature study on the Megoak-goakan tradition in Panji Village, Buleleng, and then conducted participant observations, interviews, and continued with experiments on various musical motifs which were considered suitable with a jazz music. The results are obtained from observing and analyzing the process using the theory of basic form of music of Pono Banoe and Prier’s. It is found that Balaganjur Teruna Goak's music had a lively expression with the phrases of antecedent (question) and consequent (answer). Furthermore, the experimental stage begins with pouring musical inspiration that is used in this work in several stages through writing notation. The formation step is done by assembling existing motifs and then formed into a unified whole composition. The creation of jazz music is based on Balaganjur music, and in its creating processes does not neglect the work of others so that it is possible that in its motifs and patterns on musical arrangements have adopted the previous works.Keyword: Teruna Goak, Balaganjur, Jazz Music, Transformation, Panji VillageABSTRAK           Tradisi Megoak-goakan dari Desa Panji dimainkan dengan musik Balaganjur Teruna Goak. Keduanya sangatlah menarik jika ditransformasikan ke dalam musik jazz karena memiliki bentuk dasar musik yang sama. Artikel ini bertujuan memberikan gambaran bagaimana proses transformasi musik Balaganjur Teruna Goak Desa Panji ke dalam musik jazz. Proses transformasi ke dalam musik jazz dilakukan dengan metode penciptaan dari penjajakan yang diawali dari studi literatur tentang tradisi Megoak-goakan di Desa Panji Buleleng, kemudian melakukan pengamatan langsung, wawancara, dan dilanjutkan dengan percobaan berbagai motif musik yang diperkirakan cocok dengan musik jazz. Hasil yang didapat dari pengamatan dan proses analisis menggunakan teori bentuk dasar musik Pono Banoe dan teori bentuk musik dari Prier. Musik Balaganjur Teruna Goak memiliki ekspresi yang bersemangat dengan frase antiseden (tanya) dan konsekuen (jawab). Selanjutnya, pada tahap percobaan dimulai dengan cara menuangkan inspirasi musik yang akan digunakan dalam garapan ini secara bertahap melalui penulisan notasi. Tahap pembentukan dilakukan dengan merangkai motif-motif yang telah ada kemudian dibentuk menjadi suatu kesatuan komposisi yang utuh. Penciptaan musik jazz yang berdasarkan musik Balaganjur ini, pada penggarapannya tidak mengabaikan hasil karya orang lain sehingga kemungkinan dari segi motif dan pola garap musikal mengadopsi yang sudah ada sebelumnya.Kata Kunci: Teruna Goak, Balaganjur, Musik Jazz, Transformasi, Desa Panji

Abstract

Mata pelajaran seni musik menuntut keterampilan guru dalam mengorganisasi materi pembelajaran dan memberikan demonstrasi permainan lagu dan musik. Namun para guru seni budaya Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) Kabupaten Buleleng belum memahami teknik mengaransemen lagu dalam bentuk vokal kelompok pada mata pelajaran seni musik khususnya pada kompetensi dasar teknik pengembangan ornamentasi ritmis maupun melodis lagu dalam bentuk vokal kelompok. Oleh karena itu, mereka membutuhkan suatu pelatihan. Program pelatihan yang berlangsung selama enam bulan sejak 05 April 2024 ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam hal pengetahuan dan keterampilan praktis tentang teknik mengaransemen lagu rakyat Bali dalam bentuk vokal kelompok.; Sasaran Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah guru-guru seni budaya (SMP) di Kabupaten Buleleng, dengan jumlah peserta 30 orang, sebagai perwakilan dari masing-masing SMP. Metode yang digunakan dalam Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah workshop, diskusi dan sharing session, praktik langsung, dan evaluasi serta umpan balik. Proses PKM telah dilaksanakan melalui tahap presentasi dan praktik. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa guru-guru mampu mengaplikasikan keterampilan aransemen dalam pengajaran seni music dengan sangat disiplin, antusias dan sangat responsif dalam mengikuti praktik mengaransemen lagu. Guru telah memahami dan mampu mempraktikan cara mengaransemen lagu rakyat Bali dalam bentuk vokal kelompok. Pelatihan aransemen ini dapat lebih meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam bidang music dan seni budaya serta dapat menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri dan memberikan guru SMP Kabupaten Bulelelng teknik dan metode baru untuk mengajarkan seni musik.
