This classroom action research aims to identify the improvement of the effective reading speed of the 6th grade students at UPT SPF SDI Mannuruki 2 Makassar, by using klos method, with 20 students as research subjects. The results showed that in the 1st cycle of the learning activity, students who received effective reading speed scores in the low category were 15 (75%), and only 5 students (25%) achieved high effective reading speed. The results of the students’ ability test in the 1st cycle were: (1) 5 students (25%) at independent level; (2) 5 students (25%) at instructional level; (3) 10 students (50%) at frustration level. In the 2nd cycle, the number of students who received effective reading speed score in the low category remained 1 student (5%), and those who received high effective reading speed score were 19 students (95%). Besides that, in the term of students’ ability, 19 students (95%) were at independent level, 1 student (5%) were at instructional level, and no students were at frustration level. Therefore, it can be said that the ability of students in reading speed with the klos method has increased significantly.

Permasalahan dalam skripsi ini adalah apakah ada pengaruh layanan informasi guru yang profesional dalam mendidik, membimbing dan mengaja r terhadap peningkatan daya ingat siswa di SMA Negeri I Tanete Riaja? Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh layanan informasi guru yang profesional dalam mendidik, membimbing, dan mengajar terhadap peningkatan daya ingat siswa di SMA Negeri I Tanete Riaja? Populasi pada penelitian ini sebanyak 645 siswa, sedangkan sampel sebanyak 65 siswa diperoleh dengan teknik penarikan proportional random sampling, adapun pengumpulan data digunakan teknik angket, dokumentasi dan wawancara, sementara teknik analisis data menggunakan rumus regresi sederhana. Hasil pada penelitian ini menggunakan model regresi sederhana yaitu dengan taraf signifikansi dari regresi yang terjadi, maka dicocokkan dengan kaidah pengujian signifikansi yaitu Ftabel = 4,0 dan diketahui Fhitung = 17,23. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini maka dapat ditarik kesimpulan: (1) Pada penelitian ini diketahui bahwa model regresi sederhana yang terbentuk adalah yang dapat berarti bahwa apabila layanan informasi guru yang profesional dalam mendidik, membimbing dan mengajar ditingkatkan maka akan terjadi peningkatan pada daya ingat siswa di SMA Negeri I Tanete Riaja sebesar 0,63.

Penelitian ini memiliki rumusan masalah apakah ada pengaruh kontrol diri dalam mengantisipasi kecenderungan siswa bermasalah di SMA Negeri 1 Barru. Sampel penelitian 100 orang siswa dari pengambilan sampel random sampling. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah bahwa di SMA Negeri 1 Barru, proses pembentukan kontrol diri yang dilakukan guru bimbingan dan konseling hanya 0,22. Hal ini berarti bahwa hubungan atau pengaruh yang terjadi “lemah”. Dan berdasarkan hasil analisis product moment diperoleh nilai rxy=0,224, jika hasil ini dikonsultasikan dengan harga kritik korelasi product moment person dengan db 100-2 =98, maka diperoleh hasil analisis (rxy) lebih besar dari nilai kritik/harga kritik korealasi product moment person 0,224> dari 0,195. Dengan demikian, hipotesis nihil yang menyatakan tidak ada pengaruh kontrol diri dalam mengangtisipasi kecenderungan siswa bermasalah ditolak, dengan demikian maka hipotesis alternatif yang menyatakan ada pengaruh kontrol diri dalam mengantisipasi kecenderungan siswa bermasalah diterima.

This research aims at decribing the process of literature learning at a senior high school in the academic year of 2019/2020. This study is a descriptive qualitative research with the subjects are a teacher of literature and 15 students of the tenth grade at SMA Muhammadiyah Pangkep. The instruments for collecting data are observation result, interview result, and documentation. The research results showed that the goals of literature learning were well-achieved, indicated by the students’ capability in appreciating literary works and expressing the appreciation in the form of poems and short stories. The success in learning literature was marked by the increase of the students’ reading interest, their frequently browsing of articles on both literary and non-literary materials from various websites, and their work products in the form of poetry. The achievement of those students was caused by the effort applied by the teacher, namely supporting students in developing their creativity on literary activities, either inside or outside school hours, such as short story writing contest, poetry writing contest, poetry reading contest, and drama performance.

The aims of the current research are to describe (1) the improvement of students’ writing persuasive paragraph skill; (2) the improvement of students’ learning attitudes after taking persuasive paragraph writing lessons with the Think Pair Share model and educational videos; (3) the increase of students’ learning motivation after taking persuasive paragraph writing lessons with the Think Pair Share model and educational videos. This is a quantitative and qualitative research, with the number of participants are 30 students from high school in Kairouan city. The instruments used to collect data were observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of research that had been done, it was known that students’ skills in writing persuasive paragraphs had increased. It was known from the results of writing persuasive paragraphs in each cycle. In the pre-cycle, the average score of the students was 43.5. In the 1st cycle, the average score of students increased to 61.17. In the 2nd cycle, students got an average score of 64.83. In the 3rd cycle, the average score of students were 78.00. This proves that the results of writing persuasive paragraphs of students have increased in cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III.

Language politeness really needs to be shown and maintained in society because it is a characteristic of the human in all nations. Language politeness needs to be applied in all aspects of life. One of the important places to apply language politeness is in teaching and learning activities in schools. This research was conducted in a junior high school in Lahore city. Participants were 30 students of the VIII grade who were involved in learning activities with a teacher. The researchers found that in learning activities, all positive elements are very important to be applied. This is important because teaching and learning activities are the spearhead in instilling positive values from teachers to students, students to teachers, and students to students. For this reason, teaching and learning activities or processes should be able to run with full politeness which is manifested through the language used. Language politeness in teaching and learning activities will have a positive impact on students’ views of teachers, teachers to students, and students to students.

This study aims to examine the communication strategies used by students in the activity of English learning-teaching as a second language. This qualitative research was conducted using an ethnographic approach with spoken discourse of students as the object. Data was collected from 27 students in the 9th grade at Ifako International Secondary School as the informants. The research data were collected through observation and informal interview. The data were then analyzed using performance analysis technique, namely an analysis based on the speech that occurs naturally and the linguistic competence. This present study found that students used two communication strategies, namely verbal communication strategy and nonverbal communication strategy, in English teaching-learning activity. The results of this study indicate that students use communication strategies with four objectives, namely to maintain the communication, to express a certain intention, to master language competence, and to master certain forms of strategic competence.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh teknik learning contract terhadap peningkatan kepercayaan diri siswa dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Adapun pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan eksperimen yang bersifat kuantitatif. Bentuk eksperimen yang digunakan di sini adalah True-Experimental Design, dengan bentuk Desain Pretest- Posttest Control Group-Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA dan IPS di UPT SMA Negeri 3 Pinrang Tahun Pelajaran 2021/2022. Dengan demikian sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa Kelas IPA 1 dan IPA 2 sebanyak 20 siswa. Untuk teknik analisis data, peneliti menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan analisis non parametrik dengan uji Wilcoxon. Berdasarkan hasil penghitungan dengan menggunakan SPSS 22.00 for windows melalui two related samples tests terdapat perbedaan nilai rata-rata setelah perlakuan, yaitu lebih tinggi dari pada sebelum diberikan perlakuan. Hal ini dipertegas bahwa sebelum diberikan perlakuan hasil rata-rata nilai pre-test adalah 56.6, dan setelah diberikan perlakuan hasil rata-rata nilai post-test meningkat menjadi 71.4. Hal itu menunjukkan ada perubahan. Kemudian setelah itu data tersebut dianalisis, maka diperoleh nilai Z yaitu -2,807 dengan nilai Asymp Sig = 0,005 < 0,05. Hal ini berarti bahwa hipotesis nihil (Ho) yang berbunyi “tidak terdapat pengaruh penerapan teknik learning contrack terhadap peningkatan kepercayaan diri siswa pada Kelas XI IPA 1 di UPT SMA Negeri 3 Pinrang” dinyatakan ditolak. Sehingga hipotesis kerja (H1) yaitu “terdapat pengaruh penerapan teknik learning contract terhadap peningkatan kepercayaan diri siswa di UPT SMA Negeri 3 Pinrang” dinyatakan diterima. Hal ini dikarenakan diperolehnya hasil uji beda yaitu nilai Asympt Sig yang lebih kecil dari taraf kesalahan yang ditetapkan yaitu sebesar 0,05.

Speech errors can occur due to language activation and competition in the human brain as a symptom of language friction. Many researchers have studied the language friction and published their findings, indicating that the study about this issue is interesting to conduct. The current literature study aims to review previous research on language friction in terms of methods and linguistics theories applied in those studies. A systematic method was used in this research to select research articles on the language friction, and resulted in 17 articles to be reviewed. Those articles are published in Scopus indexed journals. It is found that in the last seven years, studies on language friction have shown an increasing trend, indicating that this issue is still relevant to study. In addition, most of them indicate that language friction has been analyzed based on psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics theories. However, it is not enough to study language friction from psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic perspectives, but also needs to be studied from ethnosociolinguistic perspective. This literature study can help educators and English language learners to choose learning methods by considering the language friction experienced by learners. Furthermore, by understanding the language friction, speech participants can overcome misunderstandings in communication.

Children can naturally acquire languages easily and quickly even without formal teaching from teachers. English shows provided the children new knowledges and updates without leaving the comfort of their homes due to lock down. This study was designed to analyse the use of English shows to build the children’s English developmental for learning English as foreign language, including discussion of its advantages and weaknesses. Library research and qualitative method were used to explain the findings. The data collection was documented from 3 working papers, 25 journal articles and 4 renowned books related to the topics. The analysis reveals that the children were able to retell the shows scenes, characters, topics, stories, opinions and they can pronounce English words alike as the natives do. From English shows, the children can learn some positives values and habit from the characters. The weaknesses of this strategy is control means that parents must spare time to accompany their children while watching the shows which may boring and tiring them. The other weakness is cultural shock. The English shows were mostly created by American and European whom have different basic cultures from Indonesian, therefore parents must ready to explain some scenes which are unfamiliar to ours. Lastly, watching English shows from television and YouTube also considered as more expensive instead of learning from classroom since it still need payment, subscription, fast internet connection, gadget and electricity.
