Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of YouTube application videos in teaching speaking improve the students’ speaking ability. Pre-experimental design is a method used by researchers with one group class pre-test and post-test. The population is class X Madrasah Aliyah students in the 2022/2023 academic year. Samples were taken using cluster random sampling technique consisting of 32 students. The instrument of this research is speaking test which is given as pre-test and post-test. The results of this study prove that there is a significant difference between students' scores before treatment and students' scores after treatment. Students' speaking ability after the application of the YouTube application video or better than before the use of the YouTube application. This can be seen from the average score, the students' pre-test average score (61.97) and lower than the post-test average (82.47). The significance value of this study (0.000) is smaller than the significant level (0.05). It can be concluded that the use of the YouTube application to improve the students’ speaking ability in terms of Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Grammar in the tenth grade of Madrasah Aliyah Kalosi.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was To Find Out whether or not the Image Streaming Strategy affects the student’s narrative English text. This study used Pre-Experimental in quantitative methods and image streaming was used as a research strategy. The population in this study were students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Tinambung. in the 2021/2022 school year. Samples were taken using a cluster random sampling technique consisting of 29 students. The instrument of this research is a Writing test of a sheet essay writing short story. From the analysis of data and computations, it was found that the image streaming strategy has an effect on the skills writing narrative English text for class XI Students of SMA Negeri 1 Tinambung. The result writing skill narrative text by students before use image streaming strategy was 53.17 in the poor category and after using the image streaming strategy was 89.73 in the Good category. This means that there is the effect of Image Streaming strategy in learning to write narrative English text for XI Students SMA Negeri 1 Tinambung.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of student anxiety from the factors that cause anxiety and the impact of speaking anxiety on the student learning process at SMA Negeri 1 Parepare. This research applied mixed methods research design. The data were collected from the questionnaire and interview. The subjects of this study were second-grade students in science and social students. The questionnaire was conducted on 96 students and the interview was conducted on 9 students. Based on data analysis, it was found that the percentage of the Foreign Language Class Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) questionnaire on internal and external factors of students' speaking anxiety in the learning process was 1 student (1,04%) at a very anxious level and 10 students (10.42%) at the level of anxiety. while the other 59 students (61.46%) were at a mildly level of anxiety. 23 students (23.96%) were at the relaxed level, and 3 students (3.13%) were at the very relaxed level. The results of this study indicate that the average score of students' speaking anxiety as a whole is at a mild level of anxiety, with an average score of 78.43. The impact of speaking anxiety on the student's learning process is due to the low motivation of students to learn in English, lack of vocabulary, lack of knowledge of grammar, lack of pronunciation, never having practiced speaking in English, lack of opportunity to speak in front of crowds, and nervousness. This has a negative impact on students by causing them to be blank, stuttering, afraid, nervous, and anxious.

Abstract

This research examines the Optimizing Academic Advisor Roles Via E- mentoring at English Department of Universitas Negeri Makassar. The researchers applied descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this research was the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th semester students from English Education class Pare-Pare. The subjects consist of 10 students which were taken by using purposive random sampling technique. The data obtained through interview which were analysed qualitatively in several stages, namely data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion and verification to find accuracy data. The result of data analysis showed that based on the interview which had been taken via WhatsApp, it can be said that this study demonstrates that e- mentoring has promise as a vehicle for preparing study plans, giving consideration in choosing courses programmed, guiding in approving the study plan, solving personal, social, and career problems via E-mentoring during Covid-19 pandemic such as WhatsApp.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out whether or not the effect of using audio-visual media on the student’s listening skills. This research took place at SMA Negeri 2 Jeneponto. The population of this research was the tenth student of SMA Negeri 2 Jeneponto. The researchers used a listening test by using audio-visual media to collect the data. The instrument of this research was a multiple-choice written test which administer as a pre-test and post-test. Based on the result of the mean score, the researchers found that there are effects of using audio-visual learning media because the result of the post-test was higher than the result of the pre-test (64.33 > 43.50). Then, the researchers conclude that the effect of using audio-visual learning media on the student’s listening skills at SMA Negeri 2 Jeneponto academic year 2022/2023.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the use of smartphones for learning, especially English by students majoring in English Education at Makassar State University. This study involved 122 students as participants using a purposive random sampling method where the sample had to meet two criteria, namely, having a smartphone and students from the Department of English Education. The questionnaire is a research instrument used in this study. Then the data that has been collected is analyzed deductively and then described descriptively. The results of the study are divided into 4 categories, namely the contribution of smartphones in learning, the use of smartphones for learning purposes, smartphone features, and smartphones for English language skills. In each category, it shows that most of the respondents support the use of smartphones in learning, especially in improving their English skills.

Abstract

This study used two different types of instruments, including a scale test by giving two types of questionnaires to the students and a learning achievement test used by getting the MID-Test score of the students studying Research in ELT course in the undergraduate program, to ascertain the correlation between students' self-efficacy and their learning achievement, as well as the correlation between students' academic stress and their learning achievement. Quantitative research with a correlational design was used in this study. A total of 43 students studying Research in the ELT course in the undergraduate program constituted the sample for this study. Simple random sampling was also used in the sampling process, which carried out randomly regardless of the strata in that population. In this study, the researcher found that the level of students’ self-efficacy with a mean score 70,70; the level of students' academic stress with a mean score 61,81; and the learning achievement of students studying Research in ELT course in the undergraduate program with a mean score 78,72. Students' self-efficacy and learning achievement were positively correlated. This means that the higher self-efficacy in a student is the higher the learning achievement will be. While the correlation between academic stress and learning achievement is negative, it means that the higher the academic stress experienced by students, the lower the learning achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of Differentiated Learning in institutions. This research is qualitative research with a case study type for collecting data using observation and interviews. The data collected is then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model techniques, namely through data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The research was conducted at SMP YPS Singkole, Sorowako. The results of the research show: 1) Teachers’ perspectives are encouraged to put differentiated instruction in action, take advantage of individual differences, and ensure every student has fair access to learning opportunities. 2) Differentiated learning instruction is successfully implemented by integrating a variety of strategies, including adapting lessons to accommodate varying learning styles, providing engaging and challenging content, and integrating technology and multimedia to boost engagement and encourage lifelong learning. 3) Differentiated learning instruction prioritizes the needs and unique characteristics of each student, creates a learning environment, and ultimately increases student engagement. The results of the study indicate that there have been efforts by teachers and institutions to apply differentiated learning instruction in learning activities.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out how do the students perceive on the use of Google Classroom as learning medium at SMA Negeri 1 Bantaeng. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. Students in the XII grade made up the study's population. at SMA Negeri 1 Bantaeng for the 2022/2023 academic year. A simple random sampling technique was utilized in this study. The sample was class XII MIPA 1, which consisted of 34 students, a total of 14 students from class XII MIPA 1 became informants in this research. The instrument used in this research was interview. The result of this research indicated that the three aspects based on Davis’s theory perceive of usefulness, perceive of ease of use, and students’ satisfaction received positive responses. It means that the students’ perceived Google Classroom is the students are satisfied, useful and also easy to use technology as learning medium.

Abstract

This research investigates the implementation of web-based instruction in teaching listening skills in Indonesian Senior high school students. The research aims to describe and find out the three following objectives: 1) The implementation of web-based instruction in the teaching listening process 2) Describe teacher’s perception of the implementation Web-Based Instruction in teaching listening in Indonesian EFL Classrooms 3) Describe students’ perception of the impact web-based instruction in developing listening skill in EFL Classroom. This research applied descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach. The population of this research were students of XII Bahasa SMAN 1 Pangkep and used purposive sampling to obtain samples from a population. The sample of this research was selected by interviewing the teacher taught by using web-based instruction in teaching listening. The data was collected by observation and interview. The result of this research shows that 1) The implementation of WBI in the teaching listening process as a medium instructional, utilization of interactive activity, and promote autonomous learning 2) Teacher’s perception of the implementation of WBI in EFL classrooms discovered giving positive impact on teaching process can be seen teacher can use as medium instruction in teaching English, access authentic material, give online interactive activities and promote autonomous learning. 3) students’ perception of the impact of the implementation of WBI in teaching English listening skills to students in several aspects accessibilities, increased engagement, promoting collaborative learning, and flexibility used.
