Abstract

This research was motivated by Totallang Village, one of the plantation commodity-producing villages in North Kolaka Regency. Based on the results of the initial survey, it was found that in Totallang Village there were 187 households or all households that sought clove farming as a source of household income. Thus, farmer households do not produce their own staple food for household consumption, so they must buy to meet food needs. The aim of the study was to find out and analyze the amount of food expenditure for clove farmer households in Totallang Village and the factors that influence the food expenditure of clove farmers in Totallang Village. Location determination is determined intentionally (purposive). The number of respondents is 65 people. Quantitative descriptive analysis is used to calculate and describe the allocation of household food expenditure and multiple non-linear regression analysis is used to analyze the factors that influence household food expenditure. Data analysis using formulas Y = a + b1x1 + b2x2 + b3x3 + b4x4 + e. The results showed that the average food expenditure of respondents was Rp. 13,722,553 /farmer household /year and household income factors and the number of family members partially have a significant/significant effect on food expenditure. While the education of the head of the household and the education of housewives did not significantly influence food expenditure.

Abstract

This was a three-month study, undertaken to explore how a village, specifically the village of Tapulaga, allocated funds given by the national government for community empowerment projects. Tapulaga is one of the Soropia villages in Konawe Regency, in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Analysis of the use of the Village Fund was carried out during the period 2017-2018. Data and information collected in this study were conducted by interviewing key informants (snowball random sampling). Key informants who were considered to have information on the procedures, processes, and use of village funds transferred to the Village Cash Account from the District Cash Account. The first key informant was determined by the village head, further information came from the Village Consultative Body (BPD), the Village Community Empowerment Institute (LPM), community leaders and the Tapulaga Village community. The results showed that during the period 2017-2018 the Village Fund in Tapulaga Village was mostly used only to build a pier; very little allocation was used for community empowerment programs. Although the construction of the pier is closely related to the livelihoods of the local population who are mostly fishermen. It appears that the complexity of the planning and the high cost have resulted in construction which does not function as envisaged. The disbursement of government funding should simply be overseen by the sub-district government, or at least there should have been some checks and balances so the money would not have been wasted.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to assess the competitiveness of sorghum cultivation in the East Kolaka Regency. The research was carried out in Lamunde Village, Tinondo District, East Kolaka Regency, in August 2021. Sorghum farmers made up the research population, which totaled 25 persons. The research sample was chosen using the census approach, which samples the total research population. Primary and secondary data were employed as kinds and sources of information. Direct interviewing, observation, and literature review were used to gather research data. Some research factors include revenues, expenses, output, private pricing, and societal prices. The Policy Analysis Matrix technique was used to assess the competitiveness of sorghum growth. The findings revealed that sorghum farming was competitive at both the personal and social price levels, as evidenced by the value of the Private Cost Ratio of 0.16 and the value of the Domestic Resource Cost Ratio of 0.11. Because, according to research, the selling price of sorghum in the international market is much higher than the prevailing price at the farmer level, there is a need for government intervention related to increasing the selling price of sorghum at the farmer level and supported by policies that can increase production efficiency.
