Abstract

Desa Opaasi is one of the villages where many residents work as patchouli farmers. In 2022, the previous PKM team assisted the community by organizing equipment for distillation and purification of patchouli oil. The main focus of the current program is on the processing of patchouli harvests by farmers who still use conventional methods, such as using a machete to chop their patchouli harvests, making the process ineffective and inefficient. The PKMI 2023 Team then designed and created a patchouli chopping tool as a solution to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of farmers in chopping their patchouli harvests. Additionally, PKMI team showed technical guidance on the proper use and maintenance of the patchouli chopping tool was provided to the patchouli farmers to ensure optimal utilization and care.

Abstract

The fisheries sector is essential to Indonesia's economy and food security but is faced with significant challenges, such as fluctuations in fuel oil (BBM) prices. This study analyzes the differences in fishermen's income in Petoaha Village, Nambo Sub District, Kendari City, before and after the fuel price increase in November 2022. This study uses a quantitative design with a descriptive approach to assess the economic impact of the fuel price increase on fishermen's income. The research was conducted from December 2022 to June 2023 and involved 55 respondents selected through a simple random sampling method. The variables studied include operational costs, revenue, and fishermen's income, with the application of a paired sample t-test as the primary analysis tool. The results showed significant changes in fishermen's cost structure and income after the fuel price increase. The average income of fishermen decreased by IDR 1,627,778 per month after the fuel price increase. Further details of the cost, revenue, and income analysis outlined in this study illustrate how fluctuating fuel costs change the economic dynamics of fishers, which is essential for policymakers and stakeholders in fisheries to understand and address.

The purpose of this study is to know in general the description of curly red chili price fluctuations in Kendari city and to find out the development of curly red chili prices in Kendari city in 2022. This research uses a descriptive analysis technique that is used to determine production developments, as well as review the price of red chili curls in the city of Kendari. The research uses price data sources at the consumer level in 2022 from markets in the city of Kendari which are obtained through official government websites, including the BPS (central statistical agency) Kendari city. The results of this study show the large fluctuations in the price of curly red chilies in the city of Kendari in 2022 with the tendency for the highest curly red chili prices to be in July of 59,441 compared to November of 34,598. The factors that influence price fluctuations of curly red chilies are the weather which causes curly red chilies to only be planted for one season, rainy weather also hampers the distribution of curly red chilies resulting in an increase in the price of curly red chilies and that makes the price of curly red chilies in one region to another not the same. In addition, the process of planting curly red chilies is less than optimal, causing decreased productivity
