Abstract

General Background: Academic stress represents a significant psychological challenge among adolescents facing increasing educational demands and performance expectations. Specific Background: Psychosocial resources such as social support, resilience, and self-esteem are considered important internal and external factors associated with students’ ability to manage academic pressure, particularly among high-achieving students who encounter intensified academic and performance demands. Knowledge Gap: Although previous studies have examined these variables separately, limited research has analyzed their combined relationships and mediating mechanisms within a single empirical model focusing on high-achieving students. Aims: This study aimed to examine the relationships between social support, resilience, self-esteem, and academic stress, and to analyze the mediating role of self-esteem among high-achieving students. Results: Using a quantitative correlational design with 200 students and multiple regression analysis, findings revealed significant negative relationships between social support, resilience, and self-esteem with academic stress. Self-esteem demonstrated the strongest correlation with academic stress, while social support showed the lowest correlation. The regression model explained 43.1% of the variance in academic stress, indicating that higher levels of psychosocial resources were associated with lower stress levels. Novelty: This study integrates social support, resilience, and self-esteem within a single analytical framework and empirically confirms the mediating role of self-esteem in explaining academic stress among high-achieving students. Implications: The findings suggest that strengthening psychosocial resources, particularly self-esteem alongside supportive environments and resilience development, may contribute to healthier learning conditions and improved student psychological well-being. Highlights: Psychological Resources Jointly Accounted for 43.1% Variance in Student Pressure Levels. Confidence-Related Factors Showed the Strongest Statistical Association With Reduced Strain. Combined Psychosocial Variables Demonstrated Significant Simultaneous Relationships With Learner Tension. Keywords: Academic Stres, Social Support, Resilience, Self-Esteem, High-Achieving Students

Abstract

General Background: Adolescence is a developmental period marked by complex emotional changes, particularly among adolescent girls living in orphanages who experience limited emotional support and environmental differences from nuclear families. Specific Background: Difficulties in emotional control among orphaned adolescent girls may manifest in withdrawal, irritability, and maladaptive behaviors, highlighting the need for structured psychological interventions. Knowledge Gap: Although expressive writing has been applied in various emotional contexts, limited empirical evidence exists regarding its application for improving emotional control among adolescent girls in orphanage settings. Aims: This study aims to examine the role of Expressive Writing Therapy (EXPRIT) in improving emotional control among adolescent girls residing in an orphanage. Results: Using a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design with four participants, statistical analysis through Paired Sample T-Test showed a significant difference between pretest (M = 9.500) and posttest scores (M = 30.500), with p = 0.032 (p < 0.05), indicating improved emotional control following intervention. Novelty: This study focuses specifically on adolescent girls in a Muhammadiyah-affiliated orphanage and integrates psychoanalytic catharsis theory with structured expressive writing sessions. Implications: Findings suggest that expressive writing therapy may serve as a structured psychological intervention to support emotional control development among vulnerable adolescents in institutional care settings. Keywords: Expressive Writing Therapy, Emotional Control, Adolescent Girls, Orphanage Setting, Psychological Intervention Key Findings Highlights: Significant score increase observed after structured writing sessions. Statistical testing confirmed measurable emotional regulation improvement. Intervention demonstrated feasibility within institutional care context.

Abstract

General Background: Oral health is intricately associated with systemic health, particularly in the aging population where chronic conditions such as diabetes are prevalent. Specific Background: Chlorhexidine 0.2% mouthwash is widely used to reduce oral microbial load, potentially influencing systemic inflammation and metabolic markers. Knowledge Gap: However, the systemic impact of routine chlorhexidine use, especially on glycemic regulation in older adults, remains insufficiently explored. Aims: This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the association between the use of 0.2% chlorhexidine mouthwash and random blood glucose (RBG) levels, while considering age and gender influences. Results: Among 90 respondents, predominantly aged ≥40 years (82%), 34% reported regular chlorhexidine use. Users showed a lower mean RBG (120 mg/dL) compared to non-users (128 mg/dL), though the difference was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Gender-based analysis also revealed no significant differences. Novelty: This study contributes novel insight by highlighting a possible, albeit non-significant, trend toward improved glycemic status in chlorhexidine users. Implications: While not conclusive, these findings suggest that consistent oral hygiene via chlorhexidine may support systemic health maintenance in older adults, reinforcing the need for longitudinal studies on its metabolic effects. Highlights: Highlights a potential link between oral hygiene and blood glucose control. Shows lower average glucose in chlorhexidine users, though not significant. Supports further research on systemic benefits of mouthwash use in elderly. Keywords: Chlorhexidine 0.2%, Blood Glucose, Oral Health, Aging Population, Cross-Sectional Study

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between online gaming intensity and academic procrastination among university students. General Background: Academic procrastination is a persistent behavioral issue in higher education that may reduce academic performance and psychological well-being. Specific Background: The increasing engagement of students in online gaming activities raises concerns regarding time management and academic responsibility. Knowledge Gap: Although prior studies have explored procrastination and digital behavior, differences in research subjects, variables, and settings indicate the need for contextual empirical evidence among psychology students in Indonesia. Aims: This study aims to analyze the role of online gaming intensity in predicting academic procrastination among students of the Faculty of Psychology and Education at a private university in Sidoarjo. Results: Using a quantitative correlational design with 399 participants and simple linear regression analysis, the findings reveal a positive and statistically significant relationship (B = 0.571; β = 0.593; p < 0.001), indicating that higher gaming intensity is associated with higher levels of academic procrastination. Novelty: The study provides localized empirical evidence by focusing on psychology students and applying regression analysis to quantify predictive contribution. Implications: The findings underline the importance of time management, self-control, and digital literacy programs to prevent maladaptive academic behavior in higher education contexts. Keywords: Academic Procrastination, Online Gaming Intensity, University Students, Digital Behavior, Time Management Key Findings Highlights: Higher gaming frequency and duration are associated with increased task delay tendencies. Statistical modeling confirms a significant predictive contribution of digital engagement toward task postponement. Preventive strategies involving self-regulation and structured scheduling are recommended within campus settings.

Abstract

General Background Adolescence represents a critical developmental stage characterized by increasing demands for emotional regulation and social interaction within school environments. Specific Background In senior high school students in Sidoarjo, social skills are considered essential for effective peer interaction and adjustment, while emotional intelligence is assumed to support emotional awareness and interpersonal behavior. Knowledge Gap Although numerous studies have examined emotional intelligence and social skills separately or within mediated frameworks, limited research has directly examined their statistical relationship among Indonesian adolescents in public senior high schools. Aims This study aims to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and social skills among adolescents in Sidoarjo. Results Using a quantitative correlational approach with Spearman’s Rho analysis, the findings show a strong positive correlation coefficient numerically; however, the relationship is not statistically significant, indicating that emotional intelligence and social skills are not significantly related in the studied sample. Novelty This study provides direct empirical evidence from Indonesian senior high school adolescents showing a non-significant statistical relationship between emotional intelligence and social skills despite high levels of both variables. Implications The findings suggest that adolescent social skills may be associated with factors beyond emotional intelligence, providing a basis for further investigation into additional variables relevant to adolescent social development. Highlight: Statistical analysis showed no significant association between the two measured variables. Most participants demonstrated high levels across both measured constructs. Quantitative evidence indicates the presence of other contributing factors in adolescent social development. Abstract

General Background: Early adulthood is a developmental phase marked by emotional challenges, particularly following romantic relationship dissolution. Specific Background: Difficulties in emotion regulation and self-acceptance often hinder psychological recovery during this period. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies largely examined resilience independently, leaving limited evidence on its simultaneous association with emotional intelligence and self-acceptance among early adults experiencing breakup. Aims: This study aims to examine the relationships between emotional intelligence, self-acceptance, and resilience in early adulthood after breakup experiences. Results: Findings indicate significant positive associations among emotional intelligence, self-acceptance, and resilience, suggesting that individuals with stronger emotional regulation and higher self-acceptance demonstrate greater adaptive capacity. Novelty: This study integrates emotional intelligence and self-acceptance within a unified resilience framework among early adults post-breakup, providing empirical evidence in an underexplored context. Implications: The results highlight the importance of psychosocial interventions focusing on emotional regulation and self-acceptance to support resilience development in young adults. These findings offer practical relevance for counseling services and mental health programs in higher education settings. Keywords: Resilience, Emotional Intelligence, Self Acceptance, Early Adulthood, Breakup Experience Key Findings Highlights: Emotional intelligence shows a strong association with adaptive coping capacity. Self acceptance contributes meaningfully to psychological recovery. Integrated personal resources support adjustment after relationship loss.

Abstract

General Background Subjective well-being is a central construct in psychology that reflects individuals’ evaluations of life satisfaction and emotional experiences, particularly within social and cultural contexts such as fandom communities. Specific Background Fans of idol groups often form strong emotional attachments and social networks that may shape their psychological functioning, including perceived happiness and life satisfaction. Knowledge Gap Despite extensive research on well-being across populations, limited empirical attention has been directed toward idol fandom communities, particularly JKT48 fans in regional contexts. Aims This study examines the relationship between social support and celebrity worship with subjective well-being among members of the JKT48 fan community in Sidoarjo using a quantitative correlational design. Results Findings from multiple linear regression indicate that social support and celebrity worship each show positive and significant associations with subjective well-being, both individually and jointly, accounting for 23.8% of variance. Additionally, male fans exhibit higher levels of celebrity worship than female fans. Novelty The study contributes new empirical evidence by focusing specifically on a regional idol fandom community that has not previously been examined in relation to subjective well-being. Implications These results suggest that adaptive engagement in fandom, supported by interpersonal connections, is linked to favorable psychological outcomes, highlighting the importance of balanced parasocial attachment and community support for mental health within fan cultures. Highlights: Interpersonal backing within the fan community is positively associated with life satisfaction and emotional states. Strong attachment to idols corresponds with higher psychological appraisal scores among participants. Male participants demonstrate greater levels of idol fixation compared with female participants. Abstract

This study examines the role of teacher self-efficacy as a mediator between social support and occupational well-being among teachers in Islamic private elementary schools, within the framework of SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). A quantitative, cross-sectional design was employed, involving 221 teachers from nine districts in East Java Province, Indonesia. Data were collected using validated scales for occupational well-being, social support, and teacher self-efficacy, and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results confirm that social support significantly influences teachers' occupational well-being, but only through the full mediation of teacher self-efficacy (p < 0.05). The direct effect of social support on well-being was not significant. Furthermore, demographic factors—including age, gender, income, educational background, and certification status—did not show significant moderating effects on either self-efficacy or occupational well-being (p > 0.05). These findings underscore that self-efficacy is a critical internal mechanism translating external support into improved well-being, regardless of demographic differences. The study contributes to the JD-R Model and Self-Determination Theory by extending their application to faith-based educational settings. Practically, enhancing teacher self-efficacy through targeted training and supportive policies is essential for improving teacher welfare, which in turn supports the achievement of SDG 3 at the institutional and community levels. Abstract

The development of the internet, such as the Shopee platform, has facilitated access to online shopping, which has led to consumptive behavior in everyday life. This study aims to determine the influence of gratitude and self-esteem on consumptive behavior in online shopping through the Shopee platform among young adults in Sidoarjo. Using a quantitative method with a causal approach, this study involved 270 young adult respondents aged 18-25 years who were selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using three instruments, including a gratitude scale (12 items; α = 0.823), a Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) (10 items; α = 0.764), and a consumptive behavior scale (22 items; α = 0.865), all of which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression and Pearson's correlation using SPSS software. The results showed that the higher the level of gratitude and self-esteem possessed by individuals, the lower their consumptive behavior in online shopping. Thus, this study proves that there is a negative and significant influence between gratitude and self-esteem and consumptive behavior.
