Abstract

Abstract: The literacy and numeracy achievements of elementary school students in Indonesia still face various challenges, despite showing an upward trend based on the results of the National Assessment. One cause is the implementation of conventional and less interactive learning models. This community service activity aims to develop and train the use of the interactive Learning Management System (LMS) kelaspetualang.com integrated with Scratch-based educational games to support literacy and numeracy learning at SD Negeri 067240 Medan. The implementation method used an interactive workshop based on practice-based learning that included needs analysis, material development, training, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The activity participants consisted of 20 teachers. The evaluation was conducted using a 1–5 Likert scale questionnaire to measure understanding, interest, and effectiveness of the activity. The results of the activity showed that 18 teachers successfully developed and uploaded game-based teaching materials to the LMS, while two teachers experienced technical difficulties with the device. The evaluation results showed a very good level of understanding and enthusiasm, especially regarding interest in developing game-based learning media, although further mentoring is still needed on technical aspects. Abstract

Education inequality in Indonesia remains a complex challenge, especially in remote areas and low-income communities. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to identify the main factors causing education inequality, such as limited infrastructure, shortage of qualified teaching staff, socio-economic barriers and government policy implementation constraints. The findings reveal that inadequate infrastructure and a shortage of qualified teachers are prevalent in rural and underdeveloped regions, significantly limiting educational quality. Geographical disparities and socio-economic challenges further exacerbate these inequalities, creating systemic barriers to equitable access. While programs such as the Indonesia Smart Program (PIP) and School Operational Assistance (BOS) have provided partial relief, their effectiveness is often hampered by unequal resource distribution and bureaucratic inefficiencies. This study recommends a data-driven approach for more effective resource allocation, cross-sector collaboration and strengthening of education policies to create an inclusive and sustainable education system. The findings provide important insights for policymakers to overcome structural barriers and ensure equitable education for all Indonesian children.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of media literacy among university students living in boarding houses around Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED). The research employed a quantitative descriptive method involving 50 respondents selected through a survey using a Likert-scale questionnaire that measured five indicators: the ability to distinguish factual information from hoaxes, habits of source verification, ethics in using social media, awareness of personal data security, and critical thinking in responding to digital content. The results show that students’ media literacy is generally in the good category, as reflected in their ability to access digital information easily, identify misleading content, use polite communication, and maintain privacy when using social media. However, some respondents still exhibit inconsistent verification habits and limited confidence in recognizing misinformation, indicating uneven literacy levels among students. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening digital awareness programs, especially for students living independently in boarding houses who rely heavily on online platforms for academic and daily information needs. The study suggests that universities develop continuous media literacy initiatives and that students cultivate more consistent verification habits to foster responsible digital behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of environmental literacy and cleanliness behavior among Generation Z in Medan Sunggal City. The research involved 50 respondents and employed a questionnaire instrument covering environmental knowledge, attitudes, awareness, waste management behavior, daily hygiene habits, and social responsibility toward the environment. Data were collected using a 1–5 Likert scale reflecting respondents’ perceptions and actions related to environmental issues. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis to identify trends in environmental literacy and cleanliness behavior. The results indicate that Generation Z demonstrates a generally good level of environmental literacy, particularly in understanding the impacts of waste, plastic usage, and the importance of maintaining public cleanliness. Cleanliness behavior also tends to be positive, as reflected in proper waste disposal practices, reduced use of plastic, and efforts to maintain cleanliness in both public and personal spaces. However, certain aspects, such as consistent waste sorting and active participation in environmental initiatives, still require improvement. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening environmental education and providing adequate facilities to support sustainable and environmentally responsible behavior among Generation Z.
