Abstract

Objective: This study aims to design, develop, and evaluate the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of an AI-powered interactive platform, SMART (Integrated Responsive Active Media System) Pancasila, specifically engineered to enhance the comprehension of national values among fifth-grade elementary students. Method: Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental pre-test–post-test control group design, the research involved 60 students from SDN Jabungan and SDN Jeketro. Data collection utilized expert validation sheets, user feedback questionnaires (from teachers and students), and cognitive assessment tests, which were subsequently analyzed using independent sample t-tests and N-Gain scores. Results: The findings indicate that SMART Pancasila is highly feasible, achieving an average expert validation score of 3.78 and exceptional practicality ratings from teachers (3.90) and students (3.75). Regarding effectiveness, a significant improvement in student understanding was observed, evidenced by a high-category N-Gain score of 0.72 and a substantial effect size ($d = 1.70$). Novelty: The originality of this research lies in the integration of an adaptive AI system that provides personalized learning paths, analyzes student error patterns, and delivers automated feedback within a character education framework, effectively transforming abstract Pancasila principles into concrete conceptual mastery for primary learners.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to develop and test the feasibility of gamified digital worksheets with AI feedback support to promote active learning in elementary Civic Education (PKn). Method: The study employed a research and development design using the 4D model consisting of define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The participants were fourth-grade elementary students, and the evaluation involved expert validation, a limited trial, and a broader trial. Two expert raters validated the draft across six aspects: civic education content, digital media, gamification, active learning, AI feedback support, and language. Content validity was analyzed using Aiken's V, while inter-rater reliability was calculated using percentage agreement, Cohen's kappa, and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Teacher and student responses were converted into percentages and categorized as Very Good, Good, Fair, or Poor. Results: The average Aiken's V was 0.90, with a range of 0.67-1.00, indicating that the product was highly valid. Inter-rater reliability showed 83.33% exact agreement, Cohen's kappa of 0.61, and ICC of 0.61. Teacher responses increased from 93.33% in the limited trial to 100.00% in the broader trial, while student responses increased from 97.46% to 99.15%. Novelty: The study offers a gamified worksheet model in which AI serves as a feedback and reflection support tool, while gamification and active learning remain the main pedagogical structure for strengthening civic understanding, participation, and responsibility in elementary learning.

Abstract

The learning outcomes of fifth-grade Civic Education (PKn) students at SDN 9 Semende Darat Ulu were still in the low to moderate category, indicating the need for a more effective learning approach. This study aimed to determine the effect of the deep learning approach on students’ Civic Education learning outcomes. The research employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design using the one-group pretest-posttest model. The sample of this study consisted of fifth-grade students at SDN 9 Semende Darat Ulu. The data were analyzed using hypothesis testing with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The deep learning approach was proven effective in improving students’ Civic Education learning outcomes optimally and evenly, with an average posttest score of 72.5%. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, proving the effectiveness of this approach.
