Abstract

This study explores innovations in generative AI named Esisbot to support students in improving their understanding and insights into indigenous knowledge. In science, mathematics, and technology education, Indigenous knowledge is often overlooked and receives little attention. This topic is rarely considered in research on technology policy and the use of technology in education. Advanced technologies such as Chat GPT and generative AI are currently being considered. However, higher education policymakers have not yet prioritized improving the capabilities and role of generative AI in building databases of Indigenous scientific material for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education is urgent needed. The methods of this research through empirical studies and use mixed methods in three universities as an example such as University Tadulako, UIN Walisongo Semarang, and University of Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa. The data was obtained through indepth interviews wth 5 students in each location, classroom observation, and interviews with 3 lecturers and distributive questionnaires to 30 students each. While, the method of analysis uses descriptive analysis and inferential analysis, interpretation and triangulation. The statistical analysis using a paired sample t-test (t(29) = 6.781, p < 0.001) further supports the conclusion that Esisbot played a significant role in advancing learning outcomes. The findings indicate that Esisbot significantly benefits students by enhancing their comprehension of indigenous knowledge and improving their quality and capacity in understanding STEM within a local knowledge framework

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to reconstruct national values in higher education as a strategic effort to strengthen the identity of the younger generation. The study focuses on understanding how university students interpret the commemoration of National Awakening Day, how reflective learning contributes to the formation of national identity, and how these interpretations can inform the development of national-value–based learning in higher education.Methods – The study employs a qualitative approach using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Data were collected from written reflective narratives produced by 22 Civic Education students at a public university in Indonesia in the year 2024/2025. The analysis proceeded through repeated reading of the reflections to capture the context of personal meaning-making, followed by thematic interpretation to identify experiential patterns, and concluded with integrative analysis to understand the dynamics through which students construct and negotiate national values.Findings – The findings show that students’ understanding of National Awakening Day is shaped by intertwined mechanisms. The historic legacy of the national movement becomes an important cognitive foundation that helps students reconnect with ideas of unity and collective struggle. Reflective learning in the classroom serves as a mediating space where national identity is reinterpreted in relation to students’ personal, cultural, and academic experiences. Research Implications – The study highlights relevant implications for higher education, particularly the importance of integrating structured reflective activities into civic and character education courses. Such approaches can help students connect historical national events with contemporary realities and foster more meaningful internalization of national values within the university context.

Abstract

This paper examines the trends in the education and teaching of Indigenous Psychology through a bibliometric analysis. Indigenous Psychology has emerged as a crucial and strategic subject taught at the higher education level. Its inclusion in academic curricula plays a pivotal role in advancing psychology education that is rooted in local communities and indigenous wisdom. The aim of this study is to identify research and educational trends pertaining to Indigenous Psychology published between 2010 and 2024. The research methodology employs a bibliometric analysis, with data visualization facilitated through the bibliometric software Vosviewer. Data were collected from Scopus and Web of Science (WOS) databases, with specified timeframes and keywords. The data search was conducted on July 12, 2024. The findings indicate that the recurring themes remain foundational and popular within the field of psychology, and these themes are analyzed and interpreted through the framework of Indigenous Psychology.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi model pedagogis kewarganegaraan dalam kurikulum Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan (PKn) di perguruan tinggi guna melihat kesesuaiannya dengan kebutuhan pembelajaran kewarganegaraan abad ke-21. Urgensi penelitian ini berangkat dari tuntutan pengembangan civic knowledge, civic skills, dan civic dispositions di lingkungan perguruan tinggi sebagai fondasi pembentukan warga negara demokratis. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif studi kasus eksploratif yang berfokus pada praktik pembelajaran PKN pada satu kelas perkuliahan. Partisipan penelitian berjumlah 23 orang, terdiri atas 1 dosen pengampu mata kuliah PKN dan 22 mahasiswa yang mengikuti perkuliahan tersebut. Teknik analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi, kategorisasi, dan interpretasi tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kurikulum PKN di perguruan tinggi telah mengakomodasi nilai Pancasila, demokrasi, HAM, serta pluralisme, namun implementasi pedagogis masih didominasi metode ceramah dan evaluasi berbasis kognitif. Model pembelajaran partisipatif, berbasis proyek, serta problem-based civic learning telah mulai diterapkan, namun belum terintegrasi secara sistemik. Penelitian ini menegaskan perlunya reposisi kurikulum dengan memperkuat experiential learning, interdisipliner, literasi digital kewarganegaraan, serta kolaborasi sosial komunitas. Implikasi penelitian menawarkan rekomendasi akademik dan kebijakan untuk pengembangan kurikulum PKN yang lebih transformatif dan relevan terhadap dinamika sosial-politik kontemporer.
