Abstract

water samples used were taken from three coastal areas of Aceh, namely Tibang, Uleelheue, and Kaju. Water is taken from 3 different water sources for each area of the region. Initial measurements were made for distilled water to see the accuracy of using a hollow prism made of commercial glass. The water sample is inserted into a hollow prism made of commercial glass with an angle of 450. The helium-neon laser beam with a wavelength of 564 nm is directed to the hollow prism so that it undergoes refraction. The measurement results on the distilled water sample obtained a refractive index of 1.33, the result is the same as the measurement using the Abbe refractometer. Meanwhile, the measurement results found that the refractive index of water taken from water sources in the coastal area has a relatively similar index of refraction. The refractive index of water taken from three coastal areas ranged from 1.341 to 1.349. The value of the refractive index of water is also affected by the level of mineral content and the level of saltiness

Abstract

Abstract

The background of the problem underlying the research is the low scientific literacy of student. The objectives of the study are: (1) to determine the effect of the POGIL learning model assisted by LKPD on students’ scientific literacy skills (2) to determine whether there is an increase in students’ scientific literacy skills. The study uses a quasi-experimental method of non-equivalent design (pretest and posttest) control group design. The purposive sampling technique took 42 students consisting of 26 students of class XI MIA 1 as the experimental class and 26 students as the control class. The instrument was in the form of a pretest-posttest test in the form of multiple choice questions of 10 items. Data analysis used normality, homogeneity, hypothesis and n-gain tests. The results obtained, the independt sample test on SPSS version 20 obtained a sig (2-tailed) result of 0.000

Abstract

The study investigated high school students' misconceptions regarding the concept of Kinematics, using the Five-Level Diagnostic Test to identify and analyze these misconceptions. The core problem discussed is the constant misunderstanding of basic physics concepts, which hinders student learning outcomes and conceptual understanding. This study uses a qualitative descriptive methodology, combining diagnostic tests, interviews, and observations to collect comprehensive data on student misconceptions. This multi-faceted approach allows for a deeper understanding of the factors that contribute to these misconceptions, including pedagogical and environmental influences. The findings revealed that a large number of students struggled with the concept of Kinematics, especially in determining speed and speed changes. The study concluded that misconceptions arise not only from cognitive limitations but also from inadequate teaching strategies. To address this problem, the study recommends the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) with scaffolding techniques to improve conceptual understanding and reduce misunderstandings effectively

Abstract

Mathematics learning in schools continues to encounter challenges, particularly related to low student engagement and learning motivation. One contributing factor is the limited utilization of innovative learning media in classroom instruction. Gamification offers an alternative approach by integrating game elements into learning activities to enhance students’ interest in mathematics learning. Nevertheless, teachers in the Junior High School Mathematics Teachers’ Working Group (MGMP) of Lhokseumawe City still face difficulties in developing and implementing gamification-based learning media. Therefore, this community service program aimed to enhance teachers’ pedagogical understanding and technical skills in developing gamified mathematics learning media. The program was conducted on May 15–17, 2026, involving 20 junior high school mathematics teachers and 2 Mathematics Education students as technical assistants. The implementation employed a participatory workshop and mentoring approach consisting of training sessions, media development workshops, learning simulations, and evaluation activities. Participants were guided in developing learning media using digital platforms such as Quizizz, Wordwall, Kahoot, and Gimkit. The results demonstrated that participants were able to develop gamification based mathematics learning media and improve their understanding of gamification concepts, digital platform utilization, and interactive media development. Furthermore, the program strengthened teachers’ motivation and confidence in integrating digital technology into mathematics instruction.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to address environmental problems, emphasizing project-based learning, where participants are invited to solve real-world problems in their environment. The implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum) offers a great opportunity to utilize the Project for Strengthening Pancasila Student Profiles (P5) as a platform to encourage student involvement in environmental issues. One tangible form of P5 implementation is through a project converting plastic waste into oil. The activity was conducted at SMA Negeri 5 Kota Lhokseumawe, employing the creative education method for plastic waste processing, including education and training for teachers and students, as well as project assignments for processing plastic waste through the pyrolysis process. The results of the community service activity showed that more than 80% of respondents rated the educational activities, such as material delivery, awareness-raising, and providing new insights on plastic waste processing, as excellent. Moreover, 95% expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the plastic waste processing project via the pyrolysis process, which successfully provided educational, technical, and motivational experiences to participants. Education and the plastic waste processing project have proven to offer practical solutions that not only enhance students' knowledge and skills but also drive behavioral and attitudinal changes toward the environment.
