Abstract

Background Studies on long–term outcomes of hypoxic children after being hospitalized are limited, even though hypoxia is known to affect their quality of life (QoL). Objective To assess the QoL of children with episodic hypoxia following hospitalization in the emergency department (ED) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Methods A prospective cohort design study targeting pediatric patients aged 2–7 years with critical illness was conducted at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. Inclusion criteria are hypoxia patients receiving oxygen therapy, defined from the ratio of partial arterial oxygen pressure and inspired oxygen (PaO2/FiO2). The PedsQLTM questionnaire was used to assess QoL at the time of admission and 3 months after hypoxia event. Patients with cerebral palsy, mental retardation, chromosomal abnormalities, liver transplantation, and length of stay ≤24 hours were excluded. Data distribution in numerical form was analyzed using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test. Results Forty-six children with a median age of 4 (2–7) years had decreased QoL at 3 months after episodic hypoxia, based on PedsQLTM scores. The physical, emotional, and social domains were significantly decreased (P<0.01) compared to QoL at the time of admission. Prior to admission, 78.3% of children had already experienced impaired QoL. Conclusion Children with episodic hypoxia demonstrated a decline in QoL at 3 months after hypoxia event based on PedsQLTM scores. Specifically, the physical, emotional, and social domains were significantly decreased compared to at the time of admission.

Abstract

This study explores the demand for "Chinese + Vocational" talents in Indonesia and the pathways for their cultivation. Using a mixed-methods approach that combines surveys and interviews, the findings reveal a significant need for such talents, particularly in trade, tourism, and artificial intelligence industries. Grounded in Gardner's social-educational model and Dornyei's second-language motivation self-system, the study highlights the critical role of learner motivation. Notably, 61.9% of respondents cited career advancement as their primary reason for learning Chinese, emphasizing the strong link between language acquisition and professional aspirations. Despite this demand, the current "Chinese + Vocational" curriculum faces significant challenges, including rigid structures, a shortage of qualified instructors, and limited teaching resources. Moreover, 79.7% of Indonesian learners have only intermediate or lower Chinese proficiency, limiting their ability to use the language in professional settings. To effectively address these challenges, this study recommends aligning curricula with market needs, strengthening faculty development, integrating diverse teaching resources, and enhancing school-enterprise collaborations. These findings offer valuable insights into implementing "Chinese + Vocational" education in Indonesia and have broader implications for international Chinese language education. The study underscores the importance of continuous adaptation, strategic refinement in talent cultivation, and global academic collaboration.

Abstract

The role of lecturers’ leadership is crucial in education, particularly in fostering student discipline and influencing learning motivation. Each lecturer demonstrates a different leadership style, and this study aims to examine how lecturers’ academic leadership styles in assigning tasks affect the learning motivation of students in the Mathematics Education Study Program at the University of Labuhanbatu. The background of this study is the concern that variations in assignments, guidance, and lecturer support may either strengthen or weaken student engagement. This study employed a quantitative approach using questionnaires distributed to the entire population of the 2024 cohort (N = 30), consisting of Class A students (n = 17, 56.67%) and Class B students (n = 13, 43.33%). Data were analyzed using SPSS Version 27, including validity tests, reliability tests, descriptive analysis, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression. The results indicate a moderate positive correlation between lecturers’ leadership styles in assigning tasks and students’ learning motivation (r = 0.45, p 0.05). The linear regression analysis reveals that leadership style accounts for approximately 20% of the variance in learning motivation (R² ? 0.20), with clear communication and constructive feedback emerging as the main predictors. In conclusion, supportive and communicative leadership styles in task assignment can enhance students’ learning motivation. The implications suggest that lecturers are encouraged to design well-structured assignments, provide clear guidance, and follow up on student work constructively. Furthermore, it is recommended that lecturer training on motivational task-assignment strategies be implemented, along with the development of transparent assessment rubrics and structured feedback mechanisms to sustain learning motivation and support regular evaluation by the study program.ABSTRAKPeran kepemimpinan dosen sangat penting dalam pendidikan, terutama dalam mendisiplinkan mahasiswa dan memengaruhi motivasi belajar. Abstract

Waste management in West Pasaman Regency has not yet been effectively implemented, as reflected in low levels of community participation, limited facilities and infrastructure, and waste management practices that remain oriented toward final disposal. In response to these conditions, the local government introduced the Waste Blessing Movement (Gerakan Berkah Sampah/GBS) as a community-based waste management policy that integrates environmental, social, and economic dimensions. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the GBS policy and to identify factors influencing its effectiveness in promoting behavioral change within the community. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in depth interviews, field observations, and documentation involving key stakeholders, including officials from the Environmental Agency, technical field officers, and community members. Data analysis was conducted using the qualitative data analysis approach of Miles and Huberman, encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that although the GBS policy is relevant to local waste management challenges and has been implemented since 2018, its effectiveness in changing community behavior remains limited. Public understanding and participation are uneven, socialization efforts are insufficient, and implementation is constrained by limited human resources, inadequate infrastructure, and weak monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. Nevertheless, the policy shows potential to encourage positive behavioral change, particularly among communities that actively participate and benefit from waste-based social and economic incentives. The study concludes that strengthening governance, enhancing sustainable community education, and improving coordination among stakeholders are essential to increase the effectiveness and sustainability of the GBS policy in West Pasaman Regency.

Abstract

The authenticity of former President Joko Widodo's diploma has become a hot topic on the digital space, especially in the comments section of Kompas TV's YouTube channel. The wide diversity of opinions reflects a polarization of public opinion that is worth further analysis. Given the large volume of text data from public comments, manual analysis is ineffective; a technology-based approach is needed to systematically group opinions. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze public opinion polarization using a machine learning approach. Two classification algorithms, Naive Bayes and Random Forest, were used to distinguish between pro and con public comments on the issue. Data were obtained through an automated collection process (web scraping), followed by text pre-processing and TF-IDF (Term Frequency–Inverse Document Frequency) word weighting. The test results showed that the Random Forest algorithm performed best, with an accuracy of 91%, while Naïve Bayes achieved only 74%. This shows that the Random Forest method is more effective than the Naïve Bayes approach in detecting unstructured text patterns. This study concludes that machine learning can be used effectively to identify trends in public opinion on social media and can serve as a basis for further research using word embedding and deep learning models.
