Abstract

Science Material Deepening is one of the courses in the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) at the Indonesian University of Education Campus in Cibiru. Practical activities play an important role in the learning process in this course. However, the implementation of practicums still faces a major obstacle, namely the lack of a practicum module specifically designed to support learning activities systematically and integrated. This study aims to analyze the validity and practicality of a Flipbook-based digital practicum module developed for the Elementary School Science Material Deepening course. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the Alessi and Trollip development model, which consists of three main stages: planning, design, and development. Data collection techniques were carried out through two types of questionnaires. The module validation questionnaire was given to material and media expert validators and the module practicality questionnaire was tested on PGSD students after the trial. The results of the study indicate that the Flipbook-based digital practicum module has a high level of validity based on the assessment of material and media experts. The validity score from the material experts based on Aiken's V reached an average of 0.93, while the validity score from the media experts was 0.8. Furthermore, the beta test results showed that the module received an average rating of 3.7, which is categorized as very practical. Thus, this flipbook-based digital practicum module developed using the Alessi and Trollip model has proven valid and practical, and is suitable for use as teaching material in the Elementary Science Material Deepening course

Abstract

The rapid digital transformation in education has triggered a moral crisis characterized by rising intolerance, cyberbullying, and a decline in digital ethics. While technology offers educational benefits, it often lacks the moral scaffolding necessary for character development. This study aims to bridge the gap between local cultural values and digital education by examining the Gapura Pancawaluya model. It seeks to formulate how Sundanese local wisdom can be operationalized as a pedagogical framework for fostering digital citizenship. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a systematic literature review design. Data were collected from academic documents published between 2015–2025, selected through purposive sampling based on keywords related to ethnopedagogy and digital ethics. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques: reduction, display, and verification. The findings demonstrate that Gapura Pancawaluya transforms abstract cultural values into five applicable digital competencies: Cageur (Digital Wellbeing), Bageur (Digital Ethics), Bener (Information Literacy), Pinter (Critical Thinking), and Singer (Digital Resilience). This integration supports the realization of Manusa Waluya—a holistic human being aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4. The study concludes that Gapura Pancawaluya is not merely a traditional artifact but an adaptive framework essential for strengthening character education in the digital era.

Abstract

Character education in schools plays a strategic role in shaping resilient and integrity-driven personalities to prevent the growing phenomenon of demoralization among students in the era of disruption and global value transformation. This study aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the importance of integrating character education into the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, as well as to identify an effective conceptual model for strengthening students’ moral development. Employing a qualitative literature review method, this research examines a wide range of recent scholarly sources, including books, journals, and research reports relevant to the themes of character education and the Merdeka Curriculum. The synthesis of literature indicates that systematically integrated character education within the Merdeka Curriculum makes a significant contribution to preventing demoralization through the reinforcement of Pancasila Student Profile values. This study proposes the Integrative Model of Character Education within the Merdeka Curriculum (IM-CE2M), which consists of four key components: (1) project- and experience- based contextual learning that cultivates the values of faith, collaboration, and independence; (2) consistent habituation and self-development programs that foster moral discipline and positive habits; (3) synergistic collaboration among schools, families, and communities as the three centers of value-based education; and (4) strengthening teachers’ capacities as moral role models and primary facilitators of character-based learning. The implementation of IM-CE2M demonstrates that character education not only serves as a means of preventing demoralization but also forms the foundation for developing students who are faithful, critical, creative, and ethical embodying the ideals of the Pancasila Student Profile. Thus, integrating character education within the Merdeka Curriculum represents a transformative strategy to cultivate a young Indonesian generation with strong character, global competitiveness, and steadfast commitment to universal moral and humanitarian values.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a reflection module for the implementation of the GASING method based on a multimodal approach as an effort to support teachers’ Continuing Professional Development (CPD). This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach supported by quantitative data, involving 100 school teachers who are familiar with or have implemented the GASING method. Data were collected through open-ended and closed questionnaires exploring teachers’ understanding of GASING principles, mastery of instructional steps, materials perceived as most difficult, the level of classroom implementation, encountered obstacles, school support, module needs, attitudes toward the GASING method, and suggestions for further development. Data analysis was conducted descriptively through frequency and percentage distributions as well as thematic categorization. The findings indicate that the majority of teachers demonstrate a moderate level of understanding of GASING principles and mastery of its instructional procedures, with varying levels of classroom implementation. The main challenges in implementing the method are related to the limited availability of teaching aids, time constraints in classroom instruction, and both students’ and teachers’ levels of understanding. Teachers generally expressed positive attitudes toward the GASING method and demonstrated a strong need for a reflection module that is comprehensive, interactive, and structured in progressive stages, supported by multimodal media such as instructional videos and practical guides. These findings highlight the urgency of developing a multimodal-based reflection module for the implementation of the GASING method as a contextual, sustainable, and practice-oriented professional learning resource to strengthen the implementation of teachers’ CPD in a more meaningful way.
