Abstract

Background: A racket's performance in controlling trajectory and manipulating the speed of the ball is greatly influenced by its structural characteristics and materials. The material of the table tennis racket can affect its performance, reducing the speed and control of the ball.Aims: The main objective of this research is to analyze the biomechanical performance of the Garuda Unesa Speed (GUS) table tennis racket made from Makassar ebony veneer as the main material and to compare its attributes, particularly speed and control, with those of high-end commercial rackets. Methods: This study applies a comparative design by comparing two types of rackets in table tennis. Two-dimensional kinematics analysis was also conducted using Kinovea software.Result: Based on the t-test results with a non-parametric path, all variables showed a significant difference with a p-value of 0.01 (Sig 0.05). However, one variable did not show a significant difference, namely the velocity variable, with a p-value of 0.05 (Sig 0.05). If examined from the average value, the speed variable has a slight difference (a difference of 0.5). The average speed data shows that the Makassar ebony wood veneer racket has better speed. Conclusion: Based on the results of biomechanical analysis, the reflection of the Makassar ebony wood veneer racket makes a good contribution to the speed and control of the table tennis racket. This finding has practical implications for designing an effective table tennis athlete smash and block game by utilizing the speed and control of a table tennis racket using Makassar ebony wood veneer.

Abstract

Physical literacy, encompassing motivation, self-confidence, motor skills, and knowledge for lifelong active participation, remains low among Indonesian elementary school students: less than 40% meet competency standards, and more than 70% do not achieve 60 minutes of daily activity. In a randomized controlled trial in Jombang, East Java, 120 fourth–sixth grade students were divided into two groups. The intervention group participated in an eight-week Sports Education Model (SEM) (two 45-minute sessions per week) with role assignments, mini-tournaments, reflection, and discussion; the control group underwent a conventional curriculum. Physical literacy was measured using a validated instrument before and after the program. Results showed an average increase in the physical literacy score of the SEM group of 8.24 points (p<0.001). However, after adjusting for confounding variables, the difference between groups was not significant (F(1,116)=0.187; p=0.667). Retrospective bias occurred: post-test scores significantly predicted pre-test scores (η²=0.138; p<0.001), indicating that intervention experience influenced self-evaluations of initial abilities.SEM has been shown to potentially improve physical literacy, but its eight-week duration may not be sufficient for significant differences between groups. Future studies are recommended to extend the intervention to 12–16 weeks, include structured teacher training, and use a multicenter longitudinal design to strengthen evidence of effectiveness and ensure sustainability.

Abstract

Tests performed every time the student has finished the movement brain gymnastics. This is done so that the results of tests that are obtained more accurately. Mental reterdation characteristics that have limitations in considering would negatively affect the test results. Tests for gross motor movement and fine motor movement using DDST test format. DDST contains procedures for conducting tests and evaluation of test results. For the tests of gross motor movement and fine motor movement there are three assessment criteria, namely failed, refused and passed. At the beginning of the meeting five tests carried out many items in the category of students failed and refused. This is caused by the adaptation of students in recognizing the new environment and the movement of brain exercises that they have never done before. At the end of the five meetings that the number of test items in the category refuse and fail to decline, it is because the students have started to adapt and understand instructions, instructions were given to them. Overall improvement of the results of tests on five initial meeting and five final meeting for categories of pass is 33.8%. Based on this research exercise influence Brain Gym on the development of gross motor movement and fine motor skills of children with intellectual challenges, it can be argued conclusions in this study are: Gymnastics Therapy Brain (Brain Gym) have an influence on the development of gross motor movement and fine motor movement for mental reterdation midle category were aged 4 years to 6 years.
