Abstract

The essence and existence of culture in its process will gradually change due to various factors, such as the infiltration of global culture. This quantitative study aims to determine the effect of global cultural infiltration on the traditional Sasak marriage system in Lombok Island. The research was conducted in Montong Gamang Village, Kopang District, Central Lombok Regency, with 50 respondents determined by purposive sampling. The research data were obtained through a questionnaire analyzed using the Product Moment Correlation formula. The analysis results show a correlation coefficient (0.639) greater than the value of r-Product Moment (0.279) at a significance level of 5%. This means that global cultural infiltration has a significant effect on the traditional Sasak marriage system in Lombok Island. It is suggested that the tribe can wisely select and accept the foreign culture, be aware of negative influences, and maintain local cultural values. Keywords: Cultural Infiltration; Marriage System; Sasak Tribe Custom

Abstract

Abstract                                                             The quality of groundwater is naturally determined by water-bearing rock characteristics. However, the progression of civilian activities also negatively affects the groundwater quality. Therefore, this study aims to assess groundwater's physical, chemical, and biological characteristics in Indonesia's Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) campus area and evaluate its compliance with drinking water quality standards, particularly the Class A standard. A comparative descriptive strategy was utilized in the study by involving groundwater in the campus area of UM. The focus of the research is water quality in unconfined aquifers. Through purposive sampling, 12 wells were selected to ensure appropriate spatial dispersion. Water samples were collected in sample bottles and tested for physical, biological, and chemical properties. The Perum Jasa Tirta I Malang carried out these water quality tests. Water quality data were analyzed qualitatively, descriptively, and comparatively. This study concludes that (1) the groundwater on the UM campus generally meets the physical criteria for drinking water quality standards; (2) the chemical quality of the groundwater on the UM campus still satisfies the drinking water quality standards; and (3) biologically, the free groundwater on the UM campus fails to meet drinking water quality standards. The novelty of this research is that the biggest threat to the quality of free groundwater in the campus area is bacterial contamination from sanitation activities. Accordingly, it is recommended that groundwater is boiled before being utilized for drinking water purposes to neutralize the E. coli bacteria present in all well water samples. Keywords: Water Quality of Unconfined Aquifer; The Drinking Water; Quality Standard

Abstract

The use of e-comics in social studies learning is increasingly popular due to their ability to deliver concepts visually. However, students still face difficulties in understanding the material, as e-comic storylines are often not contextual and do not present real-world problems. This study aims to develop KOMIK ALAM, a website-based e-comic learning media focused on natural resource utilization for Grade VIII students at MTs Negeri 2 Malang City. The research uses an R&D method with the Design Thinking development model, covering four stages: empathize, define, ideate, and prototype. The study focused on prototype development without proceeding to the test stage. Validation from subject and media experts and a readability test with students indicated that KOMIK ALAM is highly feasible. KOMIK ALAM is expected to serve as a visual and interactive learning media that presents contextual content and real problems to support diverse learning styles and increase student engagement. Future research should examine its effectiveness through experimental methods.

Abstract

This research examines how the ecotourism expansion in Fiji affects biodiversity conservation and Indigenous cultural heritage. The growth of ecotourism has led to major changes in the tourism sector. It significantly impacts the country's biodiversity conservation and indigenous cultural heritage. This research used a literature review approach, collecting and analyzing secondary data from various relevant sources at each stage of the research. The findings reveal a complex interconnection between economic interests and cultural dynamics, shaping Fiji's ecotourism practices and management. While ecotourism initiatives have emphasized preserving the natural environment and the promotion of indigenous cultural heritage, concern has emerged regarding the negative impacts on the fragile ecosystem and the exploitation of cultural resources for commercial gain. This research provides valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities associated with ecotourism expansion in Fiji, ensuring sustainable development and the protection of biodiversity and cultural heritage.
