Abstract

This study analyzes the capacity of the Bangkir Movable Dam as a strategic solution to control flooding downstream of the Cimanuk River in Indramayu, which often occurs due to river overflow. This quantitative study uses rainfall data over a 10-year period (2015–2024) to calculate the design flood discharge, with the Weduwen method selected as the primary reference due to its most conservative estimates. The analysis results determine the 50-year return period flood discharge (Q50) at 599.58 m³/s. Meanwhile, the total dam capacity, calculated using the Sharp-Crested Weir method, reaches 1,329.68 m³/s. The comparison shows that the existing dam capacity is significantly larger than the planned flood discharge. Thus, the Bangkir Movable Weir is considered effective and capable of controlling floods for a return period of up to 100 years, thereby reducing the risk of flooding in the Indramayu region.

Abstract

Water Resources Management involves planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the conservation, utilization, and damage control of water resources. Various issues can arise from an insufficient irrigation water supply, particularly during the dry season. Therefore, assessing plant water requirements, irrigation water availability, and planting patterns is crucial. The Katiga irrigation area, covering 1,010 hectares, is actively used for rice cultivation. During the rainy season, the main crops grown by farmers are rice and secondary crops across three growing seasons. This research calculates water availability by determining the 80% discharge (Q80). The results indicate that the available water for the Katiga irrigation area, located in Cigandamekar Sub-District, Kuningan Regency, ranges from 201.20 l/sec to 1,137.55 l/sec, with the highest water requirement being 956.29 l/sec. The recommended planting pattern is 83% rice and 17% secondary crops for the first growing season, 66% rice and 34% secondary crops for the second growing season, and 29% rice and 17% secondary crops for the third growing season, with the additional division of the field into three groups.

Abstract

Water is a natural resource that is very important for the continuity of human life. Human needs for water include drinking, cooking, farming, washing, and so on. The Cimedang-Ciputrapangan service unit (SUP) has a very strategic role because this officer has the authority to regulate and distribute water to agricultural land. While the amount of water supply from upstream sometimes does not cover the needs of the work area, the ability to process and operate the irrigation network is very important to ensure that irrigation water can be distributed. The purpose of the Merjan DI Operation and Maintenance Performance Analysis is to provide useful input or information and provide an overview and solutions to problems that occur at the irrigation network level. The method utilized is qualitative, focusing on in-depth communication; however, it lacks specific details regarding data collection and analysis techniques. The analysis reveals that, despite an effective irrigation network, there is an 84% staffing shortage among the management personnel, indicating a significant need for improvement in operational capacity. The research findings are clearly stated, outlining the condition of the irrigation network and its ability to meet rainfall and irrigation needs.
