Abstract

This research examines entrepreneurial passion (EP) along with the possible outcomes on business performance among MSMEs. Entrepreneurial passion is an important factor that drives business success through the emotional strength that urges individuals to do whatever it takes to achieve their business goals, especially the food and manufacturing MSMEs in Surakarta. The objective of this research is precisely to identify entrepreneurial passion and its impact on business performance through the role of government support (GS) and financial resource availability (FRA). Based on the entrepreneurial identity approach of 180 MSMEs in the small manufacturing and food business sectors in the Surakarta Region, passion as a founder, inventor, or business developer on the impact of their business performance results was identified. The results revealed that EP and GS significantly affected MSME performance. The FRA did not significantly affect the MSME performance. In this case, GS partially mediates the influence of EP on performance, while FRA could not mediate the influence of EP on performance. This research implies that government support has an essential role in fostering an entrepreneurial passion in the context of small businesses that are still in the growth stage. In addition, MSME players need to know their character according to their passions to produce superior performance; this aligns with the personality-job fit theory

Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection remains a major global health issue, including in Indonesia. Gene therapy (GT) has emerged as a promising therapeutic approach for various diseases, including HIV. However, its application also raises significant ethical challenges, particularly within the Indonesian context. This article aims to explore the ethical considerations, potential, and challenges of implementing GT for patients with HIV in Indonesia. A comprehensive narrative review was conducted by examining currentscientific literature and ethical frameworks related to GT and HIV management, with a focus on clinical feasibility, safety, and social implications within the Indonesian context. Gene therapy technologies such as zinc-finger nucleases (ZFNs), transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALENs), and ClusteredRegularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR) have shown promising potential in suppressing HIV infection. However, concerns remain regarding onand off-target effects that may cause genomic instability and oncogenesis. Ethical challenges include the high cost of therapy, limited public understanding of GT,and the absence of specific regulations governing its application in HIV treatment. Indonesia’s diverse sociocultural landscape further complicates equitable access and acceptance of this advanced technology. The implementation of GT for HIV in Indonesia requires careful ethical consideration, transparent communication, and robust policy development. Establishing national guidelines and conducting further research are essential to ensure that the adoption of GT is safe, equitable, and ethically responsible within the Indonesian healthcare system.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover how financial literacy impacts the consumption behavior patterns of university students. This research is essential because financial literacy has become a crucial form of education in today's consumptive era, especially for students. Currently, students are exposed to a plethora of information on social media, including information about product discounts and attractive products that become part of their daily consumption. Through sound financial literacy, students are expected to become more aware and cautious in making financial decisions, particularly in their consumption behavior. This research employs a qualitative research method with case study analysis. The data used are primary and secondary. Primary data were obtained through questionnaires from student respondents, while secondary data were derived from literature studies on student financial literacy and consumptive behavior. The respondents were selected randomly (random sampling) to observe the variation of patterns in the field. The data analysis method used is content analysis, with data validation through source and method triangulation. The results of this study can serve as a basis for related institutions to prioritize financial literacy education for students.

Abstract

The research was carried out to investigate women's contributions in the political aspect, especially in the legislative institutions in the province of West Java, Indonesia. This study uses a quantitative approach, with data processing based on panel data analysis. The Gender Development Index (IPG) was chosen as the dependent variable. In contrast, the independent variables used the Total Female Population (JPP), Average Years of Schooling (RLS), Number of Female Legislative Members (JALP), and the Gender Empowerment Index (IBG). The study used the province of West Java as the location, with secondary data from 2017 to 2020. The results showed that the average length of schooling (RLS) was the only variable positively influencing the Gender Development Index (GPA). This shows that the contribution of women on the political stage will increase along with the number of women with higher education. Other variables do not affect the index.

Abstract

Abstract

The creative economy’s GDP contribution continues to increase every year, relatively in accordance with the employment. By increasing the creative economy sector, it is expected that it will be able to solve problems in development and eliminate the economic dependence on natural resources. However, efforts to develop the creative economy still have a number of problems, which one of the main obstacles is the role of policy makers or the government. This research aims to further discuss the role of local government in supporting the development and the strengthening of the creative economy in Indonesia. This study applies a qualitative approach with the method of literature study, by obtaining secondary data from articles, journals related to the creative economy and local governments with a total of 51 papers. The data is collected from the Publish or Perish (PoP) application by using literature sources from Google Scholar and Scopus. For data analysis, this study applies content analysis through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data is tested by using source triangulation. The results of the study show that local governments have played an active role in the efforts to strengthen the creative economy sector. Yet, they still have a lot of homework to do in improving the quality of the creative economy sector.
