Abstract

Blended learning combines face-to-face instruction with online learning, designed to provide greater flexibility in the teaching and learning process. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving students and teachers as research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, including learning materials, exam results, and assignments given to students. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of blended learning has a positive impact on students' learning motivation, where students feel more motivated to learn independently and have the opportunity to review material at any time through online platforms. Blended learning also enhances the interaction between teachers and students, allowing students to ask questions and engage in discussions more freely. However, challenges such as limited internet access for some students and the lack of technological skills among some teachers reduce the effectiveness of this learning approach. In terms of academic performance, this study found that most students experienced improvement in their exam results and assignments after the implementation of the blended learning strategy, although some students faced difficulties in participating in online learning. Overall, blended learning proves to be effective in improving students' academic performance, as long as the existing challenges can be addressed, such as providing better internet access and offering technology training for teachers. This study suggests that Madrasah Aliyah Darunnajah Trenggalek continues to develop and utilize technology in learning to enhance the quality of education in the future.

Abstract

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education is becoming increasingly widespread, offering numerous benefits while also raising ethical dilemmas. This study aims to explore teachers' and students' perceptions of AI implementation in education, highlighting its benefits, challenges, and ethical implications. Using a qualitative approach, the research involved in-depth interviews with 20 teachers and students from various high schools in Indonesia. Data were analyzed using thematic coding techniques to identify key patterns in their responses. The findings indicate that AI can enhance learning efficiency, facilitate curriculum personalization, and support educational administration management. However, concerns exist regarding algorithmic bias, personal data security, and the impact on social interactions in learning. Teachers emphasized the need for clear regulations on AI usage, while students were more focused on the benefits that technology can offer. This study concludes that although AI holds great potential in education, strict policies and ethical guidelines are necessary to ensure its balanced use and to prevent it from replacing the human role in the learning process. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and education practitioners in designing more ethical and effective AI implementation strategies.

Abstract

Islam-based Early Childhood Education (PAUD) plays a crucial role in shaping children's character and identity by integrating Islamic values with local culture. This study aims to analyze how Islamic values and local culture are incorporated into the PAUD curriculum, identify implementation strategies, and examine the challenges and opportunities involved. Additionally, it explores the impact of this integration on children's character and identity development while providing recommendations for educators and policymakers to enhance the effectiveness of Islam-based early childhood education. This research employs a literature study method, analyzing various sources related to the PAUD curriculum, Islamic values, and local culture. The data analysis approach includes data reduction, classification, and interpretation. The findings indicate that integrating Islamic values such as tawhid, noble character, and worship with local cultural values such as community cooperation (gotong royong), love for the homeland, and mutual respect can create a holistic and contextual curriculum. This curriculum not only supports children's intellectual development but also fosters strong character and a deep sense of identity. However, challenges arise in aligning local cultural values with Islamic teachings and addressing resource limitations, particularly among educators who may not fully grasp the concept of this integration. Despite these challenges, the integration of Islamic values and local culture positively impacts children's character development and strengthens community participation in the educational process. To address these challenges, this study recommends developing a more flexible curriculum and enhancing educator capacity. These efforts will contribute to producing a generation that is intelligent, of noble character, and deeply rooted in its cultural identity.

Abstract

This study investigates the evolving regulatory landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) and personal data protection through a comparative legal analysis between Southeast Asia (ASEAN) and the European Union (EU). As AI technologies increasingly permeate public governance, economic systems, and everyday decision-making, they introduce complex legal and ethical challenges related to algorithmic accountability, privacy rights, and data security. The EU, exemplified by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the proposed Artificial Intelligence Act, has developed a rights-based, precautionary regulatory model rooted in fundamental freedoms and democratic oversight. In contrast, ASEAN member states display considerable diversity in legal frameworks, enforcement capacities, and normative approaches—often prioritizing innovation, digital competitiveness, and pragmatic governance over stringent privacy safeguards. Employing a doctrinal and comparative methodology, this study analyzes statutes, institutional structures, and regional policy initiatives such as the ASEAN Framework on Digital Data Governance. The findings reveal significant regulatory asymmetries but also emerging areas of convergence. The study concludes by advocating for enhanced regional cooperation, capacity-building, and the adoption of adaptive, risk-based legal frameworks that align technological development with human rights standards. These insights contribute to the broader global discourse on ethical digital governance and the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions.

Abstract

Health financing in fragile and conflict-affected settings (FCAS) presents complex challenges due to weak governance, insecure environments, and limited institutional capacity. Traditional financing mechanisms, which are often rigid and siloed, are inadequate for the dynamic needs of conflict zones. This study analyzes adaptive and hybrid financing models that integrate humanitarian assistance with long-term development approaches to support more resilient health systems. Drawing on case studies from South Sudan, Yemen, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the analysis highlights the effectiveness of pooled funding, flexible donor strategies, joint planning platforms, and community engagement in improving health service delivery. Findings show that hybrid models are better suited to maintaining continuity, equity, and system responsiveness during protracted crises. Local ownership, especially through participatory planning and accountability mechanisms, is a key enabler of sustainability. However, challenges remain, including short funding cycles, fragmented coordination, and capacity limitations in financial and health information systems. Addressing these barriers requires a shift from isolated interventions toward integrated, inclusive, and long-term financing strategies. The study concludes that institutionalizing humanitarian-development synergies is essential for building adaptive, accountable, and equitable health systems in FCAS. These insights provide valuable guidance for donors, policymakers, and international agencies committed to improving health outcomes in complex emergency settings.

Abstract

This article explores the evolving role of soft law in the international human rights framework and analyzes how it can be transformed into binding legal commitments. Soft law non-binding declarations, resolutions, and guidelines plays a pivotal role in norm-setting and influencing state behavior despite its lack of formal enforceability. Through a qualitative doctrinal approach, this study examines historical precedents, mechanisms of norm internalization, and case studies where soft law has contributed to the development of customary international law or informed treaty-making. The discussion focuses on instruments such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the Yogyakarta Principles. The findings reveal that political pressure, judicial interpretation, and multilateral consensus are essential pathways in elevating soft law norms to hard law status. The paper concludes that while soft law cannot fully substitute binding treaties, its strategic use significantly contributes to the progressive development of international human rights law and may serve as a bridge toward universal and enforceable norms.

Abstract

Islamic education plays a vital role in fostering interreligious tolerance in Indonesia, a country renowned for its immense cultural and religious diversity. This study aims to analyze how Islamic education contributes to the creation of interreligious tolerance through the integration of tolerance values into curricula, teaching methods, and school activities. The research employs a library research methodology by examining various literature sources, including the Qur'an, Hadith, and studies on Islamic education and tolerance. The findings indicate that profound Islamic teachings on pluralism—such as the principle of rahmatan lil ‘alamin (mercy to all creation), respect for differences, and the prohibition of religious coercion—provide a strong foundation for building tolerance. Islamic education that incorporates these values into both formal and informal learning processes can help students understand the importance of coexisting harmoniously with people of different faiths. However, challenges such as the politicization of religion and biases against pluralism remain significant obstacles. This study underscores the importance of strengthening multicultural education, providing teacher training, and leveraging technology to support more inclusive and tolerant learning practices. Consequently, Islamic education holds great potential to cultivate a young generation that is tolerant, empathetic, and committed to preserving harmony in a diverse society.
