Abstract

Exercise is non-pharmacological management for Diabetes Mellitus (DM) type-2. Previous study found that both eerobic and interval training improved insulin resistance. The aim of this study was to analyze the chronic effect various type of exercises to fasting blood glucose (FBG) and insulin resistance in DM type-2 model rats. It was an experimental study, twenty male Wistar rats, age 8 weeks, weight 150-180 gram as the object. Rats were given high fed diet for 4 weeks then injected streptozocin dose 30 mg/kgBB in citrate buffer pH 4.5 i.p, and 45 mg/kgBB at the following week. Groups were divided into i.e moderate continous training (MCT), severe continous training (SCT), slow interval training (SIT), and fast interval training (FIT). All groups were treated with ran on the treadmill three times a week for 8 weeks. Fasting blood glucose and fasting insulin were checked before and after intervention. Insulin resistance was determined by calculating HOMA-IR. Data analized with paired t-test (p<0,05). The results shown that all group significantly decreased fasting blood glucose and insulin resistance (p <0,05) after eight weeks exercise except insulin resistance in MCT group. Fasting blood glucose and insulin resistence post-test was found lowest in SIT groups in this study. In conclucions chronic effect of aerobic continous and aerobic interval in various intensity can decrease fasting blood glucose and insulin resistance in DM type-2 rat model. Slow interval training was the best exercise model to decrease insulin resistance.

Abstract

Background. Low back pain is one of the most common health problem among school students. Carrying heavy backpack to school is one of the cause of low back pain. Objectives. To identify the bag load carried by the students and antropometry of the students. Method. This research is a descriptive observasional with cross sectional method. Data used is a primer data which is from 268 students by measuring their body weight, height, bag weight and also by interviewing them using interview guidelines. Results. The results obtained from 268 elememtary school students of Siti Hajar mostly have normal nutritional status. The average bag weight at level I (6.071%), level II (8.510%) and level III (10.812%) where the majority of bag loads compared to elementary school antropometry were included in the mild category 47.6% at level I, 74.7% at level II and 84.3% at level III eventhough there were some children in the heavy category. 88.8% of children carry their school bags using two shoulders, with a duration of time <30 minutes (61.7%). Respondents who experienced back pain (4.9%) and who did not experience back pain (95.1%). Conclusions. The weight of Siti Hajar Elementary School children bag against antropometry has not exceeded the recommended load limit. Key words. Bag load, antropometry, cross-sectional, interview

Abstract

Abstract. Sinonasal tumor is a neoplasm that arises from nasal and paranasal sinus tissue. It is rarely found, only <3% of all malignancy in head and neck, and 1% of all malignancy in the body. Although it is rarely found, it can cause serious complication in adult. Unspecific sign and symptoms of sinonasal tumor often make the patients ignore the disease. It leads to the diagnosis of this disease becomes late and the patients come to the doctor in advanced stage. This research was conducted to know about the profile of sinonasal tumor patients in H. Adam Malik Medan Hospital on 2016-2018. The study was a descriptive study with retrospective approach. The data used are secondary data taken from medical records. The data were analyzed using a statistical application programs. Sinonasal tumor patients in RSUP HAM Medan are 158 patients, where 95 patients met the inclusion criteria, consisting of 24 benign tumors (25,3%) and 71 malignant tumors (74,7%). The majority of patients are male (71,6%), and the highest age group in in 51-60 years old (31,6%). The main complaints felt by the patients were nasal symptoms (64,2%), the location of tumors mostly found in nasal cavity (50,5%), the most histopathological type is NKSCC (43,2%), the most occupation is self-employment (26%), and the treatment of the patients are surgery (29,5%).
