Abstract

Financial stability is a crucial aspect of the economic system, particularly in the banking sector, which serves as the primary intermediary institution. This study aims to analyze the effect of bank size on financial stability in Indonesia during the 2014–2023 period. Bank size is measured through total assets and Third Party Funds (DPK), while economic stability is proxied by the Z-score. The study population includes 92 conventional banks registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The sample was determined using a stratified sampling method based on the Bank Group category, Core Capital (KBMI), in accordance with POJK No. 12/POJK.03/2021, resulting in 48 banks as samples. Data are in the form of quarterly financial reports from the first quarter of 2014 to the fourth quarter of 2023. The analysis was conducted using panel data regression using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results show that total assets have a positive and significant effect on financial stability, while DPK has a negative and significant impact.Stabilitas keuangan merupakan aspek krusial dalam sistem perekonomian, khususnya pada sektor perbankan sebagai lembaga intermediasi utama. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of inflation and economic growth on the open unemployment rate in Western Indonesia. The research method used is panel data analysis with a fixed regression model approach, which involves processing data from several provinces in the region during a certain period. The results of the analysis show that economic growth has a significant effect on reducing the unemployment rate, while inflation does not have a significant effect on unemployment in the study area. The interpretation of these results shows that increased economic activity can reduce unemployment, while fluctuations in inflation do not directly affect the unemployment rate substantially. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of strengthening economic growth as an effort to control unemployment, while the effect of inflation is relatively insignificant in the context of Western Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the infrastructure planning process based on local conditions and potential, the role of the village government in supporting the development of local porang potential, and the efforts of porang farmers to develop a value chain to increase their income in Kindang Village, Kindang Subdistrict, Bulukumba Regency. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method using a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation from 20 informants (village government officials, porang farmers, porang traders, and community leaders), as well as through document analysis of the village medium-term development plan (RPJMDes), the village development work plan (RKPDes), and the village fund budget (DDS). Thematic data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that although planning has been carried out in a participatory manner through village meetings, its effectiveness remains limited. The main finding highlights that road quality, especially farm roads, is a key factor in optimizing the value chain and selling price of porang. Limited access increases distribution costs and weakens farmers’ bargaining position, so the economic potential has not been fully utilized. Therefore, strong synergy between participatory planning, strengthening the role of the village government, and infrastructure development oriented toward agricultural production needs is essential to sustainably improve farmers’ income.

Abstract

Development, previously oriented toward economic growth, has now shifted toward human development. The Human Development Index (HDI) is used as an indicator to measure human welfare through the dimensions of education, health, and purchasing power. This study aims to analyze the influence of government spending in the health sector, government spending in the education sector, and per capita expenditure on the HDI in South Sulawesi Province for the period 2009–2023. This study uses a quantitative approach with a panel data regression method. The study sample includes Makassar City, Palopo City, Parepare City, East Luwu Regency, and Enrekang Regency. Data were analyzed using EViews 12 software. The results of the study indicate that government spending in the health sector has a probability value of 0.0006 and per capita spending has a probability value of 0.0000, thus having a positive and significant effect on the HDI. Meanwhile, government spending in the education sector has a probability value of 0.1459, thus having a negative and insignificant effect on the HDI. This finding indicates that the increase in the allocation of education spending has not been followed by an increase in the quality of human development, which is thought to be caused by the dominance of employee spending in the education spending structure. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of shifting the focus of education spending from employee spending to more productive spending oriented towards improving the quality of education services in order to be able to encourage a sustainable increase in the HDI.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate infrastructure development planning strategies to enhance economic growth in Gowa Regency. The research adopts a qualitative approach using SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis to identify internal and external factors influencing regional development planning. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with key informants from the Regional Development Planning Agency of Gowa Regency, supported by document analysis and relevant policy reviews. The findings indicate that Gowa Regency possesses significant internal strengths, including institutional capacity and integrated planning systems, as well as external opportunities such as its strategic position within the Mamminasata National Strategic Area and growing investment potential. However, several challenges remain, including limited budget capacity, uneven infrastructure distribution, and gaps between planning and implementation. Based on the SWOT matrix, the institution is positioned in Quadrant I, indicating an aggressive growth-oriented strategy. Therefore, the recommended strategies include strengthening economic infrastructure, enhancing institutional capacity, promoting community-based economic empowerment, and developing sustainable infrastructure. These findings are expected to provide a basis for improving the effectiveness of development planning and fostering inclusive economic growth.
