Abstract

Apple is a high-value import fruit in Indonesia. One of the Apple production centers in Indonesia is Batu City, but the results tend to be declining in every year. To fulfill the demand of domestic apple industry, it is than a must to open new plantation land by observing the spatial factor. Expert and direct field review are needed to perform the analysis of land suitability, so that it will takes a lot of time and effort. Therefore, a smart system that can conduct geospatial analysis by using fuzzy inference system is developed. The data was obtained by using satellite imagery, data interpolation, and digitized and then analyzed into information. The analysis was performed on each pixel with six variable inputs including altitude, rainfall, humidity, air temperature, soil type and sun shine intensity. Besides that, the five-clustering output makes the results more accurate. From the results of the accuracy test, it is obtained a 92,86% accuracy, by comparing the results of the spatial analysis using fuzzy inference system with direct review on the field.

Abstract

Landslides is the top rank disaster in the number of incidents in Batu City. Currently, the handling of landslides in Batu City still lack preparation in preparedness phase. In preparedness phase, as an early step before a landslide take place, need a systematic disaster management. The disaster management refers to the use of a framework as a guideline to understand disasters that will occur. Batu City have developed a framework as a guideline for landslide management, but the quality and maturity are questionable. Therefore, this study proposes an evaluation of conceptual framework for landslides natural disaster management. The specific objective is to know the quality of proposed framework, find the weakness and strength. Evaluation is held by using featured based analysis which using seven criteria i.e. background, goal, model, content, legitimation, implementation and contribution. The result shows that the framework  is feasible to use as a guideline to manage the landslide management in preparedness phase in Batu City.

Abstract

One of the most fatal natural disasters in Batu City was a landslide. The percentage of casualties if directly affected by landslides is 47%. This number is quite large when compared to other natural disasters. Even though the potential of the tsunami is the biggest, when compared to the intensity of the occurrence, landslides are the most common and most often cause fatalities. One of the causes of many fatalities in natural disasters is the lack of preparedness management. For that reason the need to develop a technology that can support to reduce fatalities in landslides is needed. One of the technologies used to prevent the number of fatalities caused by natural disasters is to use multi-agent system. One of the advantages of an agent is use Belief-Desire-Intention (BDI) models for building the Muiti-Agent Systems (MAS). The specific objective of this study was to model a simulated natural disaster landslide using the Prometheus Methodology. Evaluation is done by generating a model using jackCode and implementing it using the Java Agent Development Framework. The results of this study indicate that a model made using the Prometheus Methodology can be used as a simulation of natural disaster preparedness for landslides.

Abstract

Landslides often cause impacts on the environment, infrastructure, and society. The impacts of landslides can be minimized by creating disaster awareness. Landslide vulnerability mapping can be used as a dissemination media to increase disaster awareness. The mapping methods that can be used are 2D and 3D geovisualization. There is very few research in current literature explaining the user preferences on geovisualization 2D and 3D related to landslide vulnerability.  In this paper, the user preferences of both 2D and 3D geovisualization will be evaluated. This study will focus to find out which geovisualization suits most users and their literacy spatial among those provided geovisualizations. From our results, 90% of users prefer 3D geovisualization over 2D. Furthermore, our analysis shows that 2D geovisualization has the advantage of being easily understood by users in all ages. Meanwhile, 3D geovisualization is better at increasing users' spatial literacy at all ages and levels of education in knowing the causes of landslide vulnerability. Appropriate geovisualization will provide information and knowledge that is useful for communities in regards of landslide vulnerability for better disaster awareness

Abstract

Landslides are natural disasters that pose a threat which is quite high in the area of Batu, East Java, Indonesia. The occurrence of landslides has a negative impact on environmental damage and even fatalities. These impacts can arise due to a lack of planning in disaster management preparedness. Therefore better planning is needed to minimize the negative impacts that arise. Improvement of planning can be done by conducting evacuation simulations. However, the existing evacuation simulation is still static with one scenario that is done repeatedly. Therefore, a more dynamic evacuation simulation is needed to represent the various parties involved in it and to apply various scenarios. Such dynamic simulations can be facilitated using agent technology. Agents can describe autonomous behaviour and can communicate in their environment to achieve a goal. Apply the capabilities of these agents by modelling and simulating the evacuation process can provide an illustration for a more dynamic process of landslide evacuation. This research presents an agent-based landslide evacuation model and the simulation results from this model. The results are concerned that, by using agent technology can apply simulations with various conditions. So with these results can be used as a reference in the handling of natural disasters that occur landslides.

Abstract

Due to the expressiveness of BPMN for representing the business processes, it has replaced EPC as a de-facto process modelling standard. As such, enterprises require to transform their existing EPC business process models to BPMN to keep their competitiveness. ARIS Architect & Designer, as a popular business process modelling tool, provides a model transformation feature, e.g., EPC to BPMN. For the sake of quality, it must guarantee that the resulting model has syntactic correctness and syntactic completeness. However, there is currently limited scientific approach available to evaluate the quality of the model transformation in ARIS Architect & Designer. This study proposes an evaluation of model transformation in ARIS Architect/Designer based on syntactic correctness and syntactic completeness criteria using an experimental approach. The result shows the model transformation in ARIS Architect/Designer has not completely fulfilled the criteria. The result opens further research challenges to improve the quality of EPC to BPMN model transformation.
