Abstract

Mango farmers in Majalengka Regency who have narrow land tenure tend to market their mangrove production only to traditional markets. Even if they are able to improve their agribusiness behavior, even smallholder farmers should have the opportunity to market mango production to the modern market which includes supermarkets and exports that will increase farmers' income. The purpose of this paper are: 1) To analyze the characteristics of mango farmers in Majalengka Regency; and 2) Analyzing the determinants of mango agribusiness in Majalengka Regency based on their land tenure. The research method used survey techniques in Majalengka District as one of the centers of mango production in West Java. The sample of farmers determined using 130 stratification sampling techniques. Data analysis techniques carried out using descriptive statistical analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis. The results of the study show that the proportion of farmers with narrow land tenure is 43 people (33.08%) while 87 people (66.92%) are mango farmers who are cultivating medium and wide land. Farmers who have narrow land tenure have a more homogeneous age than farmers whose land area is medium and wide, but more heterogeneous in terms of mango farming experience. The level of education of farmers with narrow land is lower than that of farmers whose land area is medium and wide. Factors that determine mango agribusiness in Majalengka Regency for farmers with narrow mastery, all significant factors are social factors, economic factors, technological factors, resource factors, institutional factors and cultural factors. Whereas for farmers with medium and broad mastery, significant factors are social factors, technological factors, resource factors and institutional factors, while economic factors and cultural factors are not significant.

Abstract

Mango varieties of Arumanis and GedongGincu is one of the horticultural commodities that are superior to Indonesian exports. The high local and international demand also makes the consumers preference of mango higher. Nevertheless, the development of mango agribusiness related to behavior of agribusiness farmers and the amount of mango trees is still not optimal. This study aims to determine the relationship between the agribusiness behavior of mango farmers and the number of mango trees. The method used in this study is a survey method with descriptive statistical and Chi-Square analysis tools. The results showed that the majority of mango farmers in Panyingkiran sub-district, Majalengka regency are farmers with narrow land (0.1-1 Ha) with the status of privately land. Farmers with privately status is command <50 mango trees on their land, while farmers who control > 200 mango trees are farmers with rental tree status. Farmers with little, medium, and large amounts of mango trees use private capital to cultivate mangoes and easily gain access to farm credit. The farmer makes the middleman as the final market destination and uses a cash payment system in buying and selling transactions. There are 6 variables of agribusiness behavior of mango farmers in Panyingkiran District, Majalengka Regency, which have a good and significant relationship with mastery of the number of mango trees, namely access to farm credit, application of off season technology, percent of good quality yields (grade A / B), determinants selling prices, payment systems and membership in farmer groups.

Abstract

Ubi jalar merupakan salah satu sumberdaya hayati unggulan yang berdaya saing industri karena permintaan untuk ekspor yang tinggi. Namun demikian, kajian agribisnis ubi jalar dari sudut pandang sosial ekonomi di tingkat petaninya belum banyak diteliti. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) Menganalisis karakteristik individu petani ubi jalar; dan 2) Memahami karakteristik usahatani ubi jalar ditinjau dari penggunaan benih ubi jalar, status kepemilikan lahan, pola tanam ubi jalar, penggunaan pupuk dan pestisida serta hasil produksi dan sistem pemasaran ubi jalar.Penelitian ini berlokasi di Kec. Arjasari, Kab. Bandung. Metode penelitian menggunakan metodesurveydengan teknik Simple Random Sampling. Alat análisis data yang digunakan adalah descriptive statistics analysis yang diperkaya denganhasil Focus Discussion Group (FGD). Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa petani ubi jalar di Kec. Arjasari, rata-rata berusia 51 tahun dengan pekerjaan utamanya adalah bertani ubi jalar. Mayoritas petani ubi jalar memiliki tingkat pendidikan rendah (SD dan tidak tamat SD) dengan kepemilikan lahan seluas 0,11-0,5 Ha yang merupakan warisan turun-temurun. Petani menanam ubi jalar varietas kuningan putih (AC Putih) dan ubi ungu. Pemupukan biasanya hanya dilakukan sekali yaitu pada saat tanaman berusia sekitar 2 bulan dengan sistem pembukaan tanah. Rata-rata produksi ubi jalar petani adalah 250-300 kg /100 m2. Tujuan pasar petani responden yakni bandar dengan sistem pembayaran tunai maupun tebasan. Kegiatan pascapanen seperti penyortiran dilakukan oleh petani dan bandar bersamaan saat berlangsungnya transaksi.

Abstract

Increased public concern and awareness of health and environment, is expected to significantly increase organic rice consumers. Thus, it can be consumed and reached by more people. The objectives of the study were to identify the characteristics of organic rice consumers, measure willingness to pay of organic rice consumers and analyze the factors related to the willingness to pay of organic rice consumers. The method used in this study is a survey method with descriptive statistical analysis and the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM). The numbers of research respondents were 51 people consisting of organic rice consumers in Warung Sehat 1000 Kebun (W1000K) as much 18 people and consumers of organic rice in several other places joined in the Indonesian Organic Community as much 33 people. The results showed that consumers were willing to pay up to 10% higher than the price offered for organic rice types of pandan wangi, menthik susu, red rice and brown rice sold in W1000K. Even in some other places, consumers are willing to pay for those rice at prices higher up to 22% of the offered price. While for organic rice type of black rice, consumers are willing to pay 9%-11% lower than the price offered. Factors related to consumers' willingness to pay more for organic rice are health (67%), food security (45%), impact on the environment (43%), knowledge of organic rice (39%), easy access to get rice (37%), service (33%), quality (25%), packaging (24%), price (20%), and lifestyle (18%).

Abstract

Paddy farming has been affected by climate change phenomena such as high rainfall and long dry seasons which have caused plant and crop failure. To minimize the impact of climate change on their farming, paddy farmers undertake various strategies for dynamically adapting to climate change. This study aimed to analyze and assess the dynamics of the mitigation response by paddy farmers in West Java to minimize the impact of climate change. The object of research was paddy farmers in West Java. The research sample was selected using a multi-stage cluster random sampling technique to collect 300 respondents. Data analysis methods used descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis of variance (manova). The results showed that paddy farmers in West Java have dynamically mitigated climate change along with climate change over time. Types of climate change mitigation response applied by the majority of paddy farmers in West Java included planting shading trees, using energy saving technologies, cultivating organic agriculture, planting different crops instead of rice, changing farming to animal husbandry, migrating, looking for other income sources outside farming and renting/selling their land. Other mitigation responses that have rarely applied but interesting to explore were of shifting the planting and harvesting periods, selecting planting varieties, adapting plantation patterns and irrigation techniques. Farmers in Subang District who applied the most four types of climate change mitigation response earned higher income greater than those in Indramayu and Karawang.

Abstract

Kesadaran konsumen akan pentingnya menjaga kesehatan dari sisi mengkonsumsi sayuran organik semakin meningkat dan banyak faktor yang berperan dalam menentukan tingkat pembeliannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui deskripsi dari karakteristik konsumen dan hubungannya terhadap tingkat kepuasan dalam melakukan pembelian sayuran organik di Kota Medan. Desain penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan metode deskriptif kuantitatif menggunakan sampel berukuran 90 responden. Metode analisis yang digunakan untuk analisis karakteristik konsumen adalah statistik deskriptif dan analisis hubungan antara karakteristik dengan tingkat kepuasan adalah crosstab dan uji chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa deskripsi karakteristik konsumen berdasarkan jenis kelamin didominasi oleh  perempuan, berusia 31 sampai 40 tahun, berpendapatan antara 2.000.001 sampai 3.000.000 rupiah, lamanya menempuh pendidikan 16 tahun atau setara dengan S1 dan memiliki jumlah tanggungan keluarga sebanyak 2 orang. Sementara itu, hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terjadi hubungan yang signifikan antara pada variabel lamanya menempuh pendidikan dengan tingkat kepuasan konsumen dalam melakukan pembelian sayuran organik di Kota Medan. Sedangkan untuk variabel-variabel karakteristik lainnya tidak terjadi hubungan yang signifikan dengan tingkat kepuasan.

Abstract

ABSTRAKCirebon sudah dikenal sebagai salah satu daerah penghasil mangga. Tetapi sampai sekarang, agribisnis mangganya belum mampu mempertahankan kualitas dan menjamin ketersediaan mangga sepanjang tahun. Permasalahan tersebut merupakan akibat dari dinamisnya perilaku agribisis yang dilakukan oleh para petaninya, sehingga pengembangan agribisnis mangga di era globalisasi harus didasarkan pada peningkatan perilaku agribisnis petani mangga ke arah yang lebih baik. Tujuan makalah ini adalah menganalisis faktor-faktor apa saja yang menentukan peningkatan perilaku agribisnis petani mangga. Metode penelitian menggunakan teknik survey di Kecamatan Greged Kabupeten Cirebon menggunakan teknik simple ramdom sampling kepada 130 petani mangga. Teknik analisis data dilakukan menggunakan path analysis. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa secara berurutan dari yang terbesar ke terkecil, faktor yang paling kuat pengaruhnya secara signifikan dalam menentukan peningkatan perilaku agribisnis petani mangga adalah faktor sumberdaya dengan pengaruh langsung sebesar 5,7% dan pengaruh tak langsung sebesar 3,5%, faktor berikutnya adalah faktor kelembagaan dengan pengaruh langsung sebesar 6,4% dan pengaruh tak langsung sebesar 1,8%, kemudian faktor budaya dengan pengaruh langsung sebesar 5,3% dan pengaruh tak langsung sebesar 1,7% dan terakhir faktor teknologi dengan pengaruh langsung sebesar 2,3% dan pengaruh tak langsung sebesar 2,5%.Kata kunci: Faktor penentu, dinamika perilaku agribisnis, agribisnis mangga, path analysisABSTRACTCirebon is already known as one of the mango-producing regions. But until now, mangosteen agribusiness has not been able to maintain quality and guarantee the availability of mangoes throughout the year. These problems are a result of the dynamic agribusiness behavior carried out by the farmers, so that the development of mango agribusiness in the era of globalization must be based on improving the agribusiness behavior of mango farmers in a better direction. The purpose of this paper is to analyze what factors determine the increase in agribusiness behavior of mango farmers. The research method used survey techniques in the Greged District of Cirebon Regency using a simple ramdom sampling technique to 130 mango farmers. Data analysis techniques are done using path analysis. The results of the study show that sequentially from the largest to the smallest, the most influential factor significantly in determining the increase in agribusiness behavior of mango farmers is the resource factor with a direct influence of 5.7% and indirect effects of 3.5%, the next factor is institutional factors with a direct effect of 6.4% and indirect effects of 1.8%, then cultural factors with a direct influence of 5.3% and indirect effects of 1.7% and finally technological factors with a direct effect of 2, 3% and indirect effect of 2.5%.Keywords: Determinants, dynamics of agribusiness behavior, mango agribusiness, path analysis

Abstract

Production fluctuation are an indication of production risk. Kragan District is one of the largest producers of mango in Rembang Regency. The production of mangoes produced by Kragan Subdistrict is still relatively low so this research aims to measure the level of risk, find out the factors that influence production and find out the factors that influence the risk of mango production in the Kragan Subdistrict. The object of this study was 31 mango farmers. The measure to calculate the level of risk is the standard deviation and the coefficient variation. The magnitude of the effect of the use of inputs on production risk is analyzed using multiple linear regression with the heteroscedastic method. The results of the calculation of production risk were analyzed using standard deviation and coefficient variation (KV) and having a standard deviation of 66.87 and the coefficient variation is 0.84, this shows that the high chance of production risk in conducting mango farming by 84 percent. Factors that significantly affect the production of mangoes in Kragan Subdistrict are the number of mango trees, organic fertilizers and inorganic fertilizers while the factors that significantly influence the risk of mango production are the number of trees and labor.

Abstract

Kawasan agrowisata Kampung Pasirangling memiliki daya tarik agrowisata tersendiri bagi para pengujungnya seperti agrowisata pupuk feses sapi, biji kopi kemasan, permen karamel, dan minuman honje. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan karakteristik pengunjung dan perilaku berkunjung dari pengunjung agrowisata Kampung Pasirangling. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian survei kepada 15 pengunjung dan wawancara mendalam dengan key informan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik pengunjung agrowisata Kampung Pasirangling didominasi oleh remaja laki-laki dan perempuan dalam rentang usia 17-25 tahun yang sebagian besarnya merupakan mahasiswa/i perguruan tinggi dari luar Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Dari segi perilaku berkunjung, pengunjung paling banyak memperoleh informasi mengenai Kampung Pasirangling dari teman lalu pengunjung yang merasa puas mempromosikannya kepada teman-temannya yang lain lalu bersama-sama melakukan kunjungan sehingga kebanyakan dari mereka sudah pernah berkunjung sebelumnya. Mayoritas pengunjung melakukan kunjungan untuk kegiatan yang berkaitan dengan wisata alam terutama berkemah. Ada juga yang bertujuan untuk pendidikan agrowisata seperti agrowisata hutan lindung, pupuk feses sapi dan pohon tegakan namun persentasenya masih kecil.

Abstract

Marketing activities carried out by mango farmers can be influenced by various factors. These factors include social factors and economic factors. The purpose of this study was to identify social factors, economic factors and mango marketing subsystems in Cikedung and Japara sub-districts and to analyze the influence of social and economic factors on mango marketing in both areas. This study uses a survey method to 260 mango farmers in Cikedung and Japara sub-districts. The analytical tools used in this research are descriptive statistis analysis and multiple linear regression. The results showed that the variables of social and economic factors in the two sub-districts were in good condition. Meanwhile, in mango marketing, Cikedung sub-district is relatively better than Japara sub-district. Social factors have a significant effect on mango marketing in Cikedung sub-district, while the economic factors have no effect. In the district of Japara sub-district, social and economic factors have no effect on mango marketing.
