Abstract

This study aimed to explain the case of ectoparasite infection and the life cycle of parasites in turtledoves (Geopelia striata). Sarcoptes sp. one of the ectoparasites belonging to the phylum Arthropods, the Arachnid class, and the order Acarina.Sarcoptes sp. can infect the skin of the host through direct contact with infected animals and the environment. Sarcoptes sp. infects by forming a lump under the skin and severe infection causes a crust to form on the skin and is accompanied by itching. Physical examination was carried out by means of inspection of the infected skin area. Subsequent examinations were carried out on the dead skin cells mixed with fresh manure macroscopically and microscopically. Macroscopic examination was done by observing the condition of the skin that is discraped. Microscopic examination using native examination. Based on the negative examination, it was found that there were Sarcoptes sp. mites on an objective microscope with a 40x magnification. Geopelia striata can be infected with Sarcoptes sp. through direct contact with sick animals. The incubation period of Sarcoptes sp. after infection from infected animals was 3-6 weeks.

Abstract

Foot and mouth disease (FMD) virus was reported as an outbreak in Indonesia in April 2022 and belonged to serotype O/ME-SA/Ind-2001e is spread in the country. This study aimed to detect the causative agent based on clinical symptoms in cattle that have the vesicle in the mouth and hooves. A total of 25 samples were collected during August 2022 from Lamongan and Surabaya, Indonesia. FMD was identified in 58% (7/12) using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), respectively. The samples were performed using universal primers with 328 bp length for primary diagnosis of FMD. These findings indicate that the spread of FMD viruses is highly contagious, so rapid and accurate diagnosis is needed as an effort to control and monitor FMD viruses.

Abstract

This study aimed to show that the probiotic Lactobacillus sp. could increase production performance (feed consumption, feed conversion, feed efficiency, body weight gain and body weight) and the contribution margin value in broiler chickens infected with Escherichia coli. This experimental study utilized a completely randomized design and involved 40 male broilers. The broilers were infected with Escherichia coli at the age of 21 days, and the study lasted for 35 days. The study consisted of 4 treatment groups, with 10 chickens in each group. The treatment groups were as follows: P0 (negative control; no feed additive; no E. coli infection), P1 (positive control; no feed additive; E. coli infection), P2 (AGP (zinc bacitracin) added at 1 g/kg mixed through commercial feed; no probiotic Lactobacillus sp.; E. coli infection), and P3 (commercial feed no AGP; probiotic Lactobacillus sp. added at 5 mL/L through drinking water; E. coli infection). The data were analysed via a general linear model (repeated measures) test of ANOVA followed by Duncan's multiple distance test. The results revealed significant differences (p<0,05) in production performance, including feed efficiency and final body weight. The highest contribution margin value shown by the P3 treatment group (administering probiotic Lactobacillus sp. in drinking water) was IDR 81,570, and the lowest value shown by the P2 treatment group (administering AGP to feed) was IDR 35,468. In conclusion, the addition of the probiotic Lactobacillus sp. at a concentration of 5 mL/L through drinking water improved production performance and increased the contribution margin value in broilers infected with E. coli.

Abstract

Lamongan Regency, located in East Java, Indonesia, is a significant center for beef cattle production. Despite its prominence, studies on the identification and differentiation of Eimeria spp. parasites in this region are notably lacking. This research aims to address this gap by evaluating the prevalence of Eimeria spp. and identifying two pathogenic species: Eimeria bovis and Eimeria zuernii. The study involved the collection of 250 fecal samples from beef cattle raised on smallholder farms across Lamongan. Sampling was conducted during the rainy season to optimize the detection of Eimeria infections. Using the sugar flotation method, Eimeria oocysts were isolated from 5–10 g of fecal matter per sample. Molecular identification employed polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays targeting ribosomal RNA’s internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS-1) region to detect the pathogenic species. Fecal examination using the Whitlock test revealed a prevalence of Eimeria spp. at 44.45% (111/250). PCR analysis further identified E. bovis with a 238 bp amplicon in Solokuro District and E. zuernii with a 344 bp amplicon in Tikung District, highlighting the presence of these two pathogenic species in distinct geographic areas. The findings underline the need for further research that includes expanded sampling from different regions and cattle breeds and the application of varied diagnostic methods. Such studies will contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the genetic diversity, distribution, and epidemiology of E. bovis and E. zuernii in Indonesia, supporting improved cattle health and management practices in the region.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the dynamics of dispute resolution by religious court judges in sharia banking legal cases. In this research method, the author uses qualitative research, with the research approach being an empirical juridical approach. The results of the research prove that the dynamics of law and its application by court judges in the Religious Court environment in resolving Sharia economic disputes are empirical legal dynamics that occur in Indonesia, where unlawful acts are related to sharia banking, which is regulated in Article 49 of Law No. . 3 of 2006 concerning Amendments to Law no. 7 of 1989 concerning Religious Courts, one of which is the authority of the Religious Courts to adjudicate sharia banking disputes. In resolving disputes, the Religious Courts use formal law and material law. Formal law in the form of procedures for resolving disputes is regulated by the Supreme Court Regulations and procedural law in the Civil Code. Meanwhile, material law is in the form of KHES, DSN-MUI Fatwa, Bank Indonesia Regulations, and Financial Services Authority Regulations and other statutory regulations. So the author found a pattern of resolving sharia banking disputes in the Religious Courts, discovered the factors causing sharia banking disputes and discovered the impact of verdicts on the development of the sharia economy.
