Abstract

The contraceptive method that dominates the choices of couples of childbearing age (PUS) in the city of Surabaya in 2022 is the Non-Long-Term Contraceptive Method (Non-MKJP) compared to the Long-Term Contraceptive Method (MKJP). The low number of acceptors of contraceptive implants is due to the anxiety level of potential acceptors. This research aimed to determine the effect of implant contraceptive counselling using flip charts on the anxiety level of potential acceptors. This research is pre-experimental design research. We used a purposive sampling technique to select the sample, which included 15 respondents. The independent variable was counselling on contraceptive implants using flip chart media, while the dependent variable was anxiety of potential acceptors. Data collection used the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test was used to analyse the presence of influence with a significance value of <0.05. The results of the study showed that the anxiety level of prospective acceptors before being given intervention, the majority (73.3%) of respondents had a mild level of anxiety after being given the intervention, with almost all (93.3%) of respondents having no anxiety. From the results of the analysis, the result was 0.001, which means <0.05, so it can be concluded that there is an influence of implant contraceptive counselling using flip chart media on the anxiety level of potential acceptors. Based on the description above, it can be concluded that there is an influence of implant contraceptive counselling using flip chart media on the anxiety level of prospective acceptors.

Abstract

Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are increasing in prevalence in rural communities and are a serious threat to public health. Posyandu cadres as the frontline of health services at the community level have a strategic role in efforts to prevent and detect NCDs. However, the limited competence and capacity of cadres are often obstacles in optimizing these roles. This community service activity aims to strengthen the role of Posyandu Cadres through increasing competence in the prevention of NCDs in Gonggang Village, Poncol District, Magetan Regency. The method of community service activities is carried out with a participatory approach through training, mentoring, and field practice for Posyandu cadres. The material includes education on risk factors for NCDs, promotion of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS), as well as early detection skills and monitoring of citizens' health. The evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test knowledge, observation of cadre practices, and feedback from the community. The results of this activity show a significant increase in the knowledge and skills of cadres in recognizing NCD risk factors and conducting health education to the community. Cadres are also able to initiate promotive-preventive activities at the Posyandu, such as healthy lifestyle campaigns, blood pressure measurement, and simple blood sugar monitoring. The support of the community and the village government also strengthens the sustainability of the program. The conclusion of this activity is that strengthening the role of Posyandu Cadres through increasing competence has proven to be effective in supporting the prevention of NCDs at the community level. This model has the potential to be replicated in other regions to support the transformation of primary healthcare

Abstract

Unmet need is a condition where women of reproductive age (WUS) are sexually active but do not use contraception. In 2024, Terung Village recorded an unmet need rate of 11.31%. This condition poses a risk to population control efforts. One contributing factor is the level of husband support. This study aims to analyze the relationship between husband support and unmet need incidence in WUS in Terung Village. The research used an observational, cross-sectional design with 163 respondents selected through simple random sampling. Husband support served as the independent variable, while unmet need was the dependent variable. Data were collected using questionnaires and open interviews, and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Results showed that 30.1% of WUS experienced unmet need, primarily among women over 35 years old, with elementary education, as housewives, having more than one child, and middle-income status. WUS without husband support had a higher unmet need rate (45.2%) compared to those with full support (10%). The Chi-Square analysis indicated a significant relationship between husband support and unmet need (p = 0.000; α = 0.05). The novelty of this study lies in the considerable disparity in unmet need based on the presence or absence of husband support. Findings emphasize the importance of involving men in family planning decisions, suggesting the need for community-based education to enhance husband participation in contraceptive use.

Abstract

Anemia remains a major public health concern among adolescent girls, as it impairs growth, cognitiveperformance, physical endurance, and overall well-being. In Magetan Regency, anemia prevalence remains high, reaching51.02% in the Tebon Health Center area. Dietary inadequacy is recognized as one of the primary contributors to anemia duringadolescence, a period characterized by rapid growth and increased nutritional demands. This study aimed to analyze the influence of dietary patterns on anemia incidence among adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 1 Barat, Magetan Regency. A cross-sectional observational design was employed, involving 122 female students aged 12–15 years selected through total sampling. Dietary patterns were measured using a validated questionnaire, and hemoglobin levels were assessed using a digital Hb device.Data were analyzed through univariate statistics and the Chi-square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The findingsindicated that 55.7% of respondents exhibited poor dietary patterns, while 56.6% experienced mild anemia and 12.3% moderateanemia. Among students with good dietary habits, 75% did not experience anemia; conversely, 73.6% of those with poordietary patterns had mild anemia. Statistical testing demonstrated a significant relationship between dietary patterns and anemiaincidence (p = 0.000). These results confirm that inadequate dietary intake substantially contributes to reduced hemoglobinlevels among adolescent girls. Strengthening nutrition education, promoting balanced meals, and enhancing school-basedhealth programs are essential strategies for anemia prevention. Collaboration between health authorities, schools, and youthcounseling groups is recommended to improve dietary behaviors and reduce anemia among adolescents.

Abstract

Maternal anxiety during childbirth is widely recognized as a psychological factor that may intensify perceivedpain and affect labor progress; however, its specific association with pain levels in primigravidas during the first active stage of labor remains under-investigated, particularly in Indonesian clinical settings. This study aimed to examine the correlation between maternal anxiety and labor pain intensity among primigravida women in the active phase of first-stage labor. An analytical observational approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. A sample of 37 primigravidas was recruited using simple random sampling at RSUD Dr. Sayidiman Magetan. Anxiety levels were measured using the Pregnancy-Related Anxiety Questionnaire-Revised (PRAQ-R2), and labor pain intensity was assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test with a significance threshold of p < 0.05. The findings showed that the majority of respondents experienced severe anxiety, and all reported severe labor pain. Statistical testing demonstrated a moderate positive correlation between maternal anxiety and pain intensity (rho = 0.48; p = 0.002), indicating that higher anxiety was associated with heightened pain perception. In conclusion, maternal anxiety is significantly associated with increased labor pain during the first active stage in primigravidas, suggesting that psychological distress may amplify physiological pain responses during childbirth. These results highlight the importance of integrating psychological assessment and supportive interventions such as antenatal counseling, breathing regulation, structured emotional support, and relaxation techniques into maternity care practices. Future research should incorporate larger and more diverse cohorts, additional psychosocial determinants, and interventional analyses to further elucidate causal mechanisms and improve labor management strategies.
