Abstract

Clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) is a series of actions implemented based on awareness, which is the result of the learning process. This behavior is key to shaping individuals, families, groups, or communities capable of maintaining their own health and actively contributing to creating optimal health conditions in their surroundings. For example, PHBS activities are carried out at SDN 2 ULIM involving 29 students from the 6th grade. The students' participation in these activities proves that health education significantly contributes to improving their understanding of clean and healthy living behavior. Through these activities, students can comprehend the importance of maintaining personal and environmental hygiene and put it into practice in their daily lives. Therefore, it is crucial to broaden the scope of health education activities so that more students can gain in-depth knowledge about PHBS. Involving more participants, such as families and communities, can be a strategic step in creating an environment that supports a healthy lifestyle. Awareness of the importance of clean and healthy living behavior also needs to be widely socialized, perhaps through community programs or public campaigns. Thus, health messages can penetrate and be implemented by the wider community. In other words, health education activities not only serve to enhance knowledge but also as part of the effort to form sustainable positive behaviors towards achieving optimal public health

Abstract

Childbirth is an important event that is always remembered in a woman's life. The choice of place of delivery will have an impact on the health of the birthing mother. Even though it is supported by good facilities and health workers, it is still found that births are carried out by health workers at home, this happened in Krueng Tho Village, Aceh Jaya Regency. The aim of this research is to analyze the level of knowledge of pregnant women and the attitudes taken in choosing a place of delivery in Krueng Tho Village, Darul Hikmah District, Aceh Jaya Regency. The sample in this study was part of pregnant women in 2011 and 2023. This research is a quantitative type with descriptive analytical methods. Determining the sample size in this study was calculated using a formula of 150 people. The sampling technique uses total sampling. Factors that influence the choice of place and delivery assistance include level of knowledge, income level, attitude, level of education, family support, distance to health facilities and age factors. It is hoped that this research can provide advice for health workers to pay more attention to pregnant women and women giving birth, especially in terms of choosing a place of birth and birth assistance, namely the need to increase attention to health service programs through socializing childbirth in health facilities.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the factors influencing the development of hypertension among patients at the Krueng Barona Jaya Health Center in Aceh Besar District. Employing a quantitative cross-sectional research design, the study analyzed data from a sample of 87 individuals selected from a total population of 641. The study focused on several potential determinants of hypertension, including gender, age, family history, physical activity levels, dietary habits, and smoking status. Statistical analysis using the chi-square test revealed significant associations between hypertension and three factors: gender, age, and diet. These findings suggest that being female, older, and having specific dietary patterns increased the likelihood of developing hypertension in this population. Conversely, family history and physical activity levels were not found to be significantly associated with hypertension in this particular study. These results highlight the importance of considering gender, age, and dietary modifications in hypertension prevention and management strategies for the population served by the Krueng Barona Jaya Health Center.

Abstract

Hypertension is a growing public health concern. This study aimed to identify factors associated with hypertension among residents of Rentang Village, Darul Hikmah District, Aceh Jaya Regency. Employing a cross-sectional design with community participation, the research found a high prevalence of hypertension. Key risk factors included lifestyle factors such as high salt intake, physical inactivity, and overweight, as well as genetic predisposition. Additionally, environmental factors like stress, air pollution, and limited healthcare access may contribute to the hypertension burden. These findings underscore the need for comprehensive interventions to increase public awareness of healthy lifestyles, address genetic risk factors, and improve healthcare accessibility. Collaborative efforts between the government, community, and stakeholders are essential to reduce hypertension's impact on Rentang Village and surrounding areas.

Abstract

In this study, FTIR spectroscopy paired with PCA was utilized to differentiate biduri plants from different places. All biduri leaf samples from each location were then obtained for their FTIR spectrum in the wave number range of 4000-400 cm-1 and pretreated with the 1st derivative. The preprocessed spectrum was then examined using HCA and PCA chemometric methods; based on the HCA classification results, the biduri samples were divided into three groups, but the selected groups were unable to identify the biduri samples from the geothermal manifestation area. The PCA findings displayed in the plot scores then successfully classified the biduri leaf samples into four groups, with a total variance explained by 63% (PC1 44% and PC2 19%). This developed method can be used to correctly identify biduri plants originating from the geothermal manifestation area of Mount Seulawah Agam, allowing it to be concluded that environmental conditions in the geothermal manifestation area of Mount Seulawah Agam affect the content of secondary metabolites present in biduri plants, as evidenced by the PCA plot, which shows samples from geothermal and non-geothermal locations forming their respective groups.

Abstract

The "3M Plus" mosquito nest eradication movement has proven highly effective in preventing dengue disease and promoting environmental hygiene and healthy living behaviors. This study aims to explore the relationship between household head behavior and the implementation of dengue fever mosquito nest eradication. Using a descriptive analytic approach with a cross-sectional study design and simple random sampling, the research involved 14 family heads as participants. Data were collected through interviews using a questionnaire and supplemented with observational data. Data processing encompassed editing, coding, and tabulating, followed by bivariate analysis (Chi-square test) and multivariate analysis (Binary Logistic Regression) at a 95% confidence interval. The results indicate a significant correlation between attitudes (p=0.000) and the role of community leaders (p=0.039) in the eradication of dengue mosquito nests. However, no relationship was observed between knowledge (p=0.767) and mosquito nest eradication. Attitude emerged as the dominant predictor (Exp (B) = 7.2) for its association with the implementation of eradication efforts. This research highlights the importance of positive attitudes and the role of community leaders in effectively eradicating dengue mosquito nests, ultimately contributing to the success of such efforts in Peukan District, Aceh Besar Regency.

Abstract

In the context of healthcare, the principle of prevention plays an important role in minimizing the risk of infection. Infections can be caused by various factors, including accidents such as being pricked by sharp instruments, contamination from unsterilized hands, or respiratory transmission. Therefore, infection control becomes a key strategy for dentists to avoid the risk of cross-infection that could potentially harm patients and medical staff. The role of dental nurses in avoiding or preventing cross-infection cannot be ignored, especially in pandemic situations such as Covid-19. Sterilization of dental medical devices is a crucial step that must be carried out appropriately and correctly to ensure the safety of patients and medical staff. This study aims to explore the understanding of ways to prevent cross-infection during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in the context of the dental clinic at the Patek Health Center, Aceh Jaya Regency. The research method used was an analytic survey with a cross-sectional study approach, where data were collected simultaneously at one point in time. The study population consisted of two dental nurses and patients visiting the dental clinic. The sample taken was the total population available. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire to measure the level of knowledge and a checklist sheet to record the actions taken.

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the relationship between maternal knowledge and the occurrence of diarrhea in toddlers within the jurisdiction of the Batoh Community Health Center in Banda Aceh City. Diarrhea is identified as the leading cause of death in infants and toddlers, leading to poor nutritional status and growth failure. Accidental sampling was utilized as the method for selecting participants in this study. The findings revealed that out of the total participants, 8 individuals (33.3%) had low maternal knowledge regarding the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers, while 14 individuals (27.5%) had high knowledge in this area. On the other hand, 16 individuals (66.7%) had low knowledge regarding the absence of diarrhea in toddlers, while 37 individuals (72.5%) had high knowledge in this area. To determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and the occurrence of diarrhea in toddlers, the Chi-Square test was conducted. The test yielded a p-value of 0.803, which indicates that there is no significant relationship between maternal knowledge and the occurrence of diarrhea in toddlers within the Batoh Community Health Center's jurisdiction in Banda Aceh City. These findings suggest that maternal knowledge alone may not be the sole determinant of the occurrence of diarrhea in toddlers. Other factors such as hygiene practices, access to clean water, and proper sanitation may also play a significant role in preventing diarrhea in this population. Further research is needed to explore these factors and develop comprehensive interventions to reduce the incidence of diarrhea in infants and toddlers in this community.

Abstract

The prevalence of stunting in Aceh Province is 44.6% on a national scale, while the prevalence in Banda Aceh is 38.8%. Given the cause of the incident, it is vital to emphasize that as well. The objective of this study was to explore the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, immunization status, and family characteristics with the incidence of stunting in infants. A total of 96 samples were collected from the areas of Puskesmas Banda Raya, Batoh, and Meuraxa as part of this quantitative study employing a Case-Control Study design. The analysis of data was performed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-square test with a 95% confidence interval, and multivariately (logistic regression). The results showed that the incidence of stunting in infants was caused by low family income (p = 0.026; OR = 3.1), non-exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.002; OR = 4.2), inadequate complementary feeding (p = 0.007); OR = 3.4), and incomplete immunization (p = 0.040; OR = 3.5). The results of the multivariate analysis revealed that non-exclusive breastfeeding was a significant contributor to infant stunting in the Banda Aceh region, with an odds ratio (OR) of 4.9. Accordingly, stunting in children is linked to a lower family income, breastfeeding that is not exclusive, inadequate complementary nutrition, and insufficient immunization. In contrast, non-exclusive breastfeeding is the major contributing factor for children with stunting.
