Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis is a contagious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which can attack all people from all ages. The highest infection occurred to 0-14 year-old children since their immune system is still weak. The success of the medical treatment toward children needs support from family such as monitoring the treatment process, fulfilling good nutrition, fulfilling enough rest and activity, etc. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to describe the family support during the medical treatment process of pulmonary TB to children. Methods:The method used in this research was qualitative by using purposive sampling to select the informants.The number of the research participants were 11.The informants’criteria were parents/family members who live in thesamehouse with the 0-14 year-old children who were diagnosedwith pulmonary TBwho were undergoing treatment or having accomplished the treatment. The research was done on May until June 2017. The data collection techniquein this researchwas through deep interview. Results: The result of this study obtained 4 themes, which were the definition of pulmonary TB on children, Pulmonary TB medical treatment to children, obstacles in children’s PulmonaryTBtreatment, and family support toward their children as Pulmonary TB patients. Conclusion :The Pulmonary TB children were getting some supports fromtheir familysuch as ensuring the routine of the treatment, meeting the cost, social and good nutrition to the children Abstrak : Latar Belakang: Tuberkulosis adalah penyakit infeksi menular yang disebabkan oleh Mycobacterium tuberculosis yang dapat menyerang semua kalangan usia. Penularan tertinggi pada rentang usia 0-14 tahun karena daya tahan tubuh yang masih lemah. Keberhasilan dalam pengobatan TB anak membutuhkan dukungan keluarga seperti pengawasan dalam pengobatan anak, pemenuhan nutrisi yang baik, pemenuhan kebutuhan aktivitas dan istirahat yang cukup dan yang lainnya. Tujuan Penelitian: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dukungan keluarga yang diberikan dalam pengobatan TB paru pada anak. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pemilihan riset partisipan menggunakan purposive sampling. Jumlah riset partisipan 11 orang. Kriteria pemilihan informan adalah orang tua/anggota keluarga yang tinggal satu rumah dengan anak berusia 0-14 tahun yang didiagnosa menderita TB paru dan sedang menjalani pengobatan/sudah selesai pengobatan TB paru. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Mei sampai Juni 2017. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara mendalam. Hasil: Dalam penelitian ini ada 4 tema yaitu pengertian tentang TB paru pada anak, pengobatan TB paru pada anak, hambatan dalam pengobatan TB paru pada anak, dan dukungan keluarga yang diberikan terhadap penderita TB paru pada anak. Simpulan: Anak yang menderita TB paru mendapatkan dukungan dari keluarganya seperti memastikan pengobatan yang dilakukan anak tidak pernah terlewatkan serta didukung dengan pemenuhan biaya, sosial, serta nutrisi yang baik untuk anak

Abstract

This research is motivated by factors that affect the growth and development of toddlers in final disposal sites (TPA), namely those related to nutritional status, chronic disease or infection, health care, environmental sanitation. The research objective was to determine the factors that influence the growth and development of children under five who live around TPA Blondo, Bawen, Semarang Regency. This research used quantitative descriptive method with univariate analysis data processing. The study population was probably 30 toddlers 1 - 5 years old with a total sampling technique of 30 toddlers. Results of the study: 22 toddlers (73.33%) with good nutritional status and 8 under-fives (26.67%) of malnutrition. There were 21 children under five (70%) who had suffered chronic disease and 9 children under five (30%) never had chronic disease. There were 27 toddlers in an environment that had adequate sanitation status (90%) and 3 under-fives (10%) who were in an environment with insufficient sanitation status. Health care with sufficient criteria as many as 26 toddlers (86.67%) and less criteria as many as 4 children under five (13.33%). Factors affecting growth and development; lack of nutrition, food intake for toddlers is not balanced.

Abstract

Population growth rate faster than the availability of resindential land will affect the decrease in health status. Population with low socioeconomic who work as scavengers will be very difficult to live in proper residential areas. Those people choose to live around the location of Landfills. This option becomes a consideration because the price is relatively cheap and close to the work location. A landfills environment condition isn’t proper for health and it makes the people who lived there suspectible of health problems. One of the most common diseases is Pulmonary Tuberculosis. This disease occurs due to bacterial infection and supported by unhealthy environment. The area around Ngronggo Landfills in Salatiga becomes one of places to stay for scavengers. The purpose of this research is to describe the influence of the house physical environment toward incident of pulmonary tuberculosis to the people who living in Landfills area. This research used descriptive quantitative method. Technique collecting data are observation, interview and environmental condition measurement with temperature parameter, humidity and light intensity. The condition of non-qualified houses is 73% of lighting, 98% of humidity, 80% of ventilation, 91% of flooring and 98% of garbage smell. The conclusion is most houses of residents living around the Landfills in Ngronggo Salatiga isn’t eligible for health requirements and become contributors’ infection of pulmonary tuberculosis.

Abstract

Perception is the result of the sensing process and the process of observing someone about something that will result in a behavioral response. Human behavior is a response to stimuli both from within and outside the individual. A healthy house is a house that meets the technical terms and conditions to protect the occupants of the house from various threats and health problems, so that an optimal health degree can be achieved. The percentage of healthy houses nationally is 61.81% and Central Java province has reached 70.40%, however, in Kebonan hamlet which is located in Central Java Province has a low percentage of healthy houses, only 9%. The research aim to describe the perception of the community about a healthy house and its relation to health behavior. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, data collection was carried out by in-depth interviews and processed into verbatim then analyzed and the validity of the results tested by source triangulation. From the research results, it can be seen that the public's understanding of a healthy house in general is still limited, the public perception of the benefits of a healthy house and the disadvantages of a less healthy house is good enough, but the method of treating community waste is still not good. The efforts that can be made by the community to maintain a healthy house are still not maximal because of limited information. The low percentage of healthy houses in Kebonan hamlet is caused by poor behavior in managing houses and household waste. Limited information affects people's perceptions about a healthy home and results in not maximizing community behavior in running a healthy house. Perceptions of a healthy home and health behavior of some people in Kebonan hamlet are interrelated, so that to form good behavior knowledge needs to be increased in order to form a good perceptual understanding and positive behavior.

Abstract

Unyil corn is one of the varieties of corn cultivated by the community. Corn contains carotenoids which can be used as a source of vitamin A and antioxidants. Efforts are needed to find out the carotenoid content in corn so that it can be evaluated in its processing. The purpose of this study was to analyze the carotenoid content and thermostability of unyil corn. The method used is carotenoid isolation, corn processing by boiling, steaming, and making pop corn. Carotenoid analysis by scanning with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the study, unyil corn contains carotenoids as big as 9.35 μg / g. Unyil corn which is processed by boiling and steaming undergoes carotenoid degradation, while that which is processed into pop corn is still conserved at 3.09 μg / g of the carotenoid. It can be concluded that unyil corn contains carotenoids and the thermostability is low.

Abstract

Caulerpa racemosa adalah salah satu spesies alga hijau yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku krim sup. Nilai tambah krim sup tersebut adalah adanya kandungan klorofil sebagai senyawa bioaktif dan sebagai pewarna alami. Permasalahn yang terjadi adalah klorofil tidak tahan terhadap panas pada saat pengolahan. Vacuum drying oven menjadi solusi untuk mengurangi kerusakan klorofil akibat pemanasan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh suhu terhadap kandungan klorofil pada proses pengeringan krim sup yang terbuat dari Caulerpa racemosa dengan menggunakan vacuum drying oven. Tahapan penelitian ini meliputi, pembuatan krim sup, pengeringan, ekstraksi klorofil, dan analisis klorofil. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh empat variasi suhu yakni 60, 70,80, dan 90ºC. Kandungan klorofil paling tinggi pada pengeringan dengan suhu 60ºC, dengan komposisi klorofil a (2,0786 µg/mL), klorofil b (1,8742 µg/mL), dan total klorofil (3,9528 µg/mL). Paparan panas menyebabkan klorofil menjadi tidak stabil. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dapat disimpulkan suhu optimal dalam mengeringkan krim sup dengan vacuum drying oven adalah 60ºC.

Abstract

Miana (Coleus scutellaroides) is an ornamental plant of single leaf a purple color. The purple color found from miana leaves is an indicator of the presence of anthocyanin pigments. Anthocyanin from miana leaves can be utilized as a natural pigment for various staining purposes especially in the food industry, anthocyanin harvesting on miana leaves can be done at any time and does not depend on the season due to its abundant availability in nature.The aims of this study were to isolate, identify, and microencapsulated anthocyanin pigments of miana leaves. The result, pigment extracted from miana leaves had characteristic of purple color and having maximum absorbance at wavelength 529 nm, suspected as anthocyanin derivative (cyanidin-3-routosida).The total microcapsulated anthocyanim was 0.149542 mg / g. Thermostability of encapsulated anthocyanin pigment from miana leaves stable with heat exposure temperature 100C up to 60 minutes. Based on those collected information, encapsulated miana leaves pigment could be used as an additional natural coloring in food industries.Keywords: anthocyanin, miana, microencapsulation, pigment, thermostability. ABSTRAKMiana (Coleus scutellaroides) termasuk ke dalam tanaman hias yang berdaun tunggal dan berwarna ungu. Warna ungu yang terdapat pada daun miana adalah indikator keberadaan pigmen antosianin.Pemanfaatan daun miana sebagai sumber antosianin dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pigmen alami untuk berbagai keperluan pewarna terutama dalam industri pangan, pemanenan antosianin pada daun miana dapat dilakukan setiap saat dan tidak bergantung pada musim dikarenakan ketersediannya yang selalu melimpah di alam.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengisolasi, mengidentifikasi, dan mikroenkapsulasi pigmen antosianin dari daun miana.Berdasarkan hasil analisis didapati bahwa ekstrak pigmen daun miana memiliki karakteristik warna nampak ungu dan serapan maksimum absorbansinya berada pada panjang gelombang 529 nm, pigmen diduga sebagai turunan antosianin yaitu sianidin-3-rutinosida.Total antosianim yang sudah dimikroenkapsulasi sebesar 0.149542 mg/g. Dari hasil uji thermostabilitas pigmen terenkapsulasi maltodekstrin, stabilitas pigmen antosianin dari daun miana cenderung stabil dengan adanya pemaparan panas suhu 100C hingga 60 menit.Berdasarkan hasil dan pengujian, pigmen daun miana terenkapsulasi dapat menjadi pertimbangan produk untuk digunakan sebagai bahan tambahan pewarna dalam industri pangan.Kata kunci: antosianin, miana, mikroenkapsulasi, pigmen, termostabilitas.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Color is very important in the food industry. The need for food coloring requires manufacturers to use synthetic dyes that have the potential to cause poisoning and cancer. One source of natural dyes comes from bacteria that are symbiotic with coral reefs. The purpose of this study is to isolate and characterize the bacterial pigment that has symbiosis with Montipora sp. The research method consisted of bacterial isolation and identification, pigment identification with UV-Vis spectrofotometer (200 – 800 nm) and TLC. The results of isilation and identification showed that Rhodococcus sp is dominant bacterial which is produces of carotenoiids for self defense from UV rays. The pigment found in Rhodococcus sp has the potential as a natural pigment for food coloring. Keywords: carotenoids, Montipora, pigment, Rhodococcus sp. ABSTRAK Warna sangat penting dalam industri pangan. Kebutuhan pewarna makanan menuntut produsen memakai bahan pewarna sintetik yang berpotensi menyebabkan keracunan dan kanker. Salah satu sumber pewarna alami berasal dari bakteri yang bersimbiosis dengan terumbu karang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengisolasi dan mengkarakterisasi pigmen bakteri yang bersimbion Montipora sp. Metode penelitian terdiri dari isolasi dan identifkasi bakteri, identifikasi pigmen dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis (200 – 800 nm) dan KLT. Hasil isolasi dan identifikasi bakteri berjenis Rhodococcus sp dan piigmen yang dihasilkan adalah karotenoid yang digunakan sebagai pertahanan diri dari sinar UV. Pigmen yang terdapat pada Rhodococcus sp berpotensi sebagai pigmen alami untuk pewarna pangan. Kata kunci: karotenoid, Montipora, pigmen, Rhodococcus sp.

Abstract

Caulerpa recemosa is one type of seaweed commonly used as a snack in raw form. High water content causes Caulerpa recemosa susceptible to damage. One effort to utilize Caulerpa recemosa is to process it to instant cream soup. The purpose of this study was to process Caulerpa recemosa into instant cream soup and done proximate analysis so as sensory evaluation. The methods done in this research were instant cream soup processing using vacuum drying oven then proximate analysis and sensory evaluation. The results of  this research was that instant cream soup produced in this research equipped  with green characteristics and seaweed scent. Based on the results of the proximate analysis, the instant cream soup contained water content (5.78%), ash (17.82%), protein (5.74%), fat (17.50%), and carbohydrate (60.87%). Sensory evaluation, visually, and taste showed a significant difference between instant cream soup and control, while texture, aroma and overall acceptance were not significantly different. Instant cream soup Caulerpa recemosa has distinctive characteristics for the colour and aroma that can be as added value, besides it also had good nutritional value and can be accepted by consumers. It could be concluded that Caulerpa recemosa could be processed into instant cream soup and has nutritional value and could be accepted by panelists.Keywords: Caulerpa recemosa, cream soup instant, vacuum drying oven, utilization

Abstract

So far, there is no previous report on the existence of Stenasellidae in a prehistoric cave-site in Indonesia. For the very first time, information about the existence of this ancient shrimp in a prehistoric habitation-site yielded from multidisciplinary research at Mesiu Cave. Their existence is delightful to discuss because they are extremely vulnerable and only lives in a specific environment (i.e. stygobit). This article unravels the reason behind the survival of Stenasellidae at Mesiu Cave over a descriptive – explanatory approach. Our observation on the specimen shows its similarity to the typical characteristics of Stenasellus genera. Furthermore, description of their existing habitat shows a characteristic which is fundamentally contradicting to the regular location of prehistoric human activity in a cave site. More likely, this distinctive spatial use of the cave has enabled Stenasellus sp. to survive until the present day. Moreover, the discovery of this unique cavernicole also enhances the outstanding value of Mesiu Cave as a cultural heritage site. Hingga saat ini, belum ada laporan mengenai penemuan Stenasellidae (Crustacea, Malacostraca, Isopoda) pada situs gua hunian prasejarah di Indonesia. Untuk pertama kalinya, informasi mengenai keberadaan udang purba tersebut pada situs gua hunian diperoleh dari penelitian multidisipliner di situs Gua Mesiu. Bertahannya eksistensi organisme ini di situs hunian prasejarah menarik untuk diulas lebih lanjut sebab hewan ini dikenal rentan dan hanya hidup pada lingkungan yang spesifik (i.e. stygobit). Artikel ini mengungkap alasan yang melatarbelakangi bertahannya eksistensi Stenasellidae di situs Gua Mesiu melalui pendekatan deskriptif–eksplanatif. Observasi kami pada fisiologi spesimen Stenasellidae tersebut menunjukkan karakteristik anatomi dari marga Stenasellus. Sedangkan deskripsi habitat Stenasellus sp. menunjukkan karakteristik lingkungan yang bertolak-belakang dengan lokasi aktivitas hunian manusia di gua-gua prasejarah pada umumnya. Perbedaan tersebut sangat mungkin menjadi salah satu faktor penyebab bertahannya eksistensi Stenasellus sp. di Gua Mesiu. Laporan mengenai penemuan fauna gua ini juga turut menambah nilai penting dan keunikan tersendiri Gua Mesiu sebagai situs cagar budaya.
