Abstract

The beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in Salatiga began in March 2020 which caused a shortage of commercial hand sanitizer supplies. The production of herbal hand sanitizer is a solution for commercial products. This community service activity aims to produce herbal hand sanitizer to overcome the scarcity of hand sanitizer in Salatiga City. The method used is a laboratory experiment with stages; plant inventory, production of hand sanitizer, and antimicrobial testing. Inventory is done by collecting library-journal information, then conducting a field survey. The production of sanitizing liquid is carried out by laboratory experiments to get a good formulation. Antimicrobial test was carried out by diffusion technique. Herbal hand sanitizing liquid made from green betel, red betel, citronella, and star anise and the results of antimicrobial analysis have medium inhibition. A total of 1041.5 l of herbal hand sanitizer that have been distributed to the public free of charge. Testimonials from people who use herbal hand sanitizer are that they are not dry on the hands, not sticky, and have a fragrant aroma. The resulting product is still below commercial products on the market, but still has effectiveness in killing microorganisms.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of oats addition in wheat cookies formulation seen from physical and sensory characteristics. Six formulations used in this research consist of wheat flour and oats mixture namely Control (100%:0%), Formulation 1 (80%:20%), Formulation 2 (60%:40%), Formulation 3 (40%:60%), Formulation 4 (20%:80%), and Formulation 5 (0%:100%). Based on analysis of variance result at α = 5%, there was a significant difference in the value of hardness and work from control and all variation of cookies’ formulation. It was also found that the decreasing composition of wheat flour and increasing composition of oats caused a decrease in the value of hardness and work. The addition of oats in the formulation of wheat cookies increases the level of brightness (L), decreases the value of a* (red tone), and increases the value of b* (yellow tone) of cookies. From sensory evaluation, compared to controls, the addition of oats in the formulation increased the acceptance rating for color parameter for all formulation, taste parameter for Formulation 2 until 5, and overall parameter for Formulation 2 and 3, while for the texture parameter, the addition of oats did not provide an increased in the acceptance rating.

Abstract

Enggano Island is one of the islands in Indonesia and is a human settlement. Enggano Island is geologically an ocean island and according to history, it has never joined the Sumatera island. Thus Enggano Island is estimated to have a unique ecosystem and endemic organisms. The purpose of this research is to study the ecology of Enggano Island and its diversity of flora. The method used is exploration, field survey, interview and literature study. The results of this study showed that Enggano Island has five ecosystems, consist of mangrove forest, coastal forest, riparian, forest, and freshwater swamp. Each ecosystem has a specific plant in accordance with the character of its habitat.

Abstract

Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) merupakan penyakit menular yang disebabkan oleh virus dengue yang ditularkan melalui gigitan nyamuk Aedes Aegypthy. Penyakit ini dapat menyerang semua orang, tidak mengenal usia maupun jenis kelamin. Kondisi tersebut menyebabkan demam terus-menerus selama 2–7 hari, manifestasi perdarahan berupa: tanda kebocoran plasma darah serta dapat timbul syok hipovolemik dari penderita DBD. Perawat dan keluarga memiliki faktor dalam proses penyembuhan pasien, utamanya adalah kecukupan kebutuhan cairan saat masa perawatan selama di rumah sakit. Bentuk dukungan yang diberikan oleh perawat dan keluarga ini guna mendukung perawatan pasien selama di rumah sakit dilihat dari upaya pemenuhan kecukupan cairan tubuh. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memberikan gambaran bentuk dukungan perawat dan keluarga dalam upaya pemenuhan kecukupan pemberian asupan cairan pada pasien DBD. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif bersifat deskriptif. Dengan kriteria penelitian ini adalah keluarga atau pasien DBD yang di rawat inap di rumah sakit Paru dr. Ario Wirawan Salatiga minimal selama 2 hari. Kegiatan penelitian dilaksanakan dari bulan Februari - Maret 2017. Hasil penelitian didapatkan penderita DBD mengalami gangguan pada asupan nutrisi dan cairan sehingga asupan tersebut kehilangan cairan yang berlebihan. Penanganan pada pasien demam berdarah dengue (DBD) mempunyai tujuan yaitu untuk memberikan asupan nutrisi dan cairan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan pasien melalui dukungan perawat dan keluarga. Upaya yang telah dilakukan dalam pemenuhan keseimbangan asupan nutrisi dan cairan dengan menyiapkan asupan nutrisi yang sesuai kebutuhan kepada pasien seperti menyuapi dan menyediakan makanan yang disukainya. Sehingga dukungan perawat dan keluarga berperan dalam penanganan kasus demam berdarah dengue (DBD) terkait pemenuhan kebutuhan asupan nutrisi dan cairan untuk metabolisme tubuh guna mendukung prose pemulihan pasien. Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by dengue virus that is transmitted through Aedes Aegypthy mosquito bites. This disease can affect everyone, not knowing age or gender. The condition cause a continuous fever for 2-7 days, Bleeding in the form of manifestation: plasma a sign of a leak, can arise shock, as well as marked with tachycardia and perfusi tissue that decline. Nurses and family has a factor in the healing process patients, thing is sufficiency needs a liquid during the care of patients during at hospital. The formulation problems research is what was the support provided by nurses and family to bolster care of patients during at hospital in terms of efforts to achieve sufficiency bodily fluids. The purpose of this research to give a form of support from nurses and family in an effort to achieve the adequacy liquid intake among respondents dengue hemorrhagic fever(DHF). The subjects of the study were family or dengue hemorrhagic patients who were hospital Paru Dr.Ario Wirawan Salatiga for a minimum of 2 days. The research was conducted from February to March 2017. The results reveal that DHF sufferers would experience lack of nutrients and fluids needed due to excessive body fluid loss. Treatment to patients with dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) by nurses or family members aimed atproviding nutritional intake and fluid that suited the needs of patients. Efforts had been made to meet the balance of nutritional and fluid intake such as the provision of necessary nutritional intake (in the foods they like) and the direct support for or feeding the patients. So that support nurses and family had a role in the handling of dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) related meeting the needs of nutritional intake and a liquid to metabolism of the body to support prose recovery respondents.

Abstract

Garam adalah kebutuhan esensial bagi manusia. Produksi garam konsumsi dilakukan dengan kristalisasi air laut dengan penguapan. Laut yang tercemar mikroplastik berpotensi menyumbangkan cemaran mikroplastik pada produk garam konsumsi. Mikroplastik pada garam akan masuk ke dalam tubuh saat dikonsumsi, yang berpotensi menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kandungan mikroplastik pada garam tambak. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif, dengan tahapan penelitian preparasi sampel dengan pengapungan dan analisis sampel secara mikroskopis dan analisis kadar garam. Hasil penelitian menunjukan, garam mengandung mikroplastik sebanyak 15,67 ± 4,73 par/100gr. Solusi yang bisa dilakukan untuk meminimalkan cemaran mikroplastik adalah dengan penyaringan air laut dan pembersihan permukaan air garam.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic requires students to study online and limit outdoor activities. Thus, students have the potential to eye problems, because the afcing duration the monitor is longer and reduced of outdoor activity. The purpose of this community service is to provide eye health education, visual test, and distribution of glasses to elementary school students. The methods; eye test, education and interviews. The results, 216 students and 38 students have eye problems and had to wear glasses. This visual problem is caused by the frequency and duration of using the cellphone for a long time. It can be concluded that all students get that minus glasses and anti-blue light glasses and eye health education.

Abstract

Enggano is one of the leading islands in Indonesia that has unique biodiversity. This uniqueness arises because Enggano is an ocean island that stands alone without ever becoming one with the mainland of Sumatra. Regarding its biodiversity, ethnobotany studies are needed to find out the culture of the Enggano people from ancient times to the present in the use of plants to support their lives. The Enggano people are familiar with plants that are used as food, construction, medicine, and simple technology and are still used today. The local knowledge of the Enggano community about the use of plants can provide support for their existence. Key words: culture; Enggano; ethnobotany; plant.

Abstract

Chocolate is cacao nib processed product which is favorite commodity in the world, nevertheless, many of consumer have not known about the process. Notable stage in cacao processing is roaster process. Cacao roasting process currently uses conventional methods, which have weaknesses like energy wastage and bioactive compounds damage. Vacuum drying oven is new roasting method which uses low pressure and temperature. Through this research, the difference of aroma development between roasting process on conventional and vacuum drying oven method was investigated. Roasted cacao was extracted by water distillation, then distillate was separated by diethyl ether partition. The extract was characterized with GC-MS. The Characterization result shown that temperature 70°C contained 11 volatile compounds and temperature 80°C, 90°C and 140°C contained 7 volatile compounds. The higher roasting temperature, the more diverse of volatile compound. The best result in cacao roasting was on vacuum drying oven at 90°C, which has similar aroma with 140°C as control sample.

Abstract

Danau Rawa Pening memiliki kandungan TSS (total padatan terlalut) yang tinggi, sehingga kualitas airnya berada di kelas 3 dan 4. TTS tersebut berasal dari 9 Sub DAS yang menjadi inletnya Rawa Pening. Sumber TSS berasal cari cemaran limbah padat, dan salah satunya adalah mikroplastik. Adanya mikroplastik juga menjadi ancaman keamanan pangan bila masuk dalam tubuh biota dan dikonsumsi manusia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui cemaran mikroplastik pada ikan yang ada di Sub DAS Rawa Pening. Metode yang dilakukan adalah survey dan analisis laboratorium dengan tahapan; pengambilan sampel, preparasi sampel, dan analisi mikroplastik. Hasil penenilitian menujukan 4 aliran sungai yakni; sungai Sraten, Muncul, Rawa Sari dan Rawa Boni terkontaminasi mikroplastik, begitu juga dengan biotanya yakni ikan sapu-sapu, louhan, lele, nila, gabus, dan moluska keong terdapat kandungan mikroplastik pada saluran pencernaannya. Adanya mikroplastik ini kemungkina berasal dari limbah domestik dan industri, dimana 4 sungai tersebut terdapat permukiman penduduk dan industri. Dapat disimpulkan, 4 sungai di Rawa Pening sudah tercemar mikroplastik, begitu juga dengan biotanya.

Abstract

Monascus sp adalah salah satu organisme multiseluler yang mampu menghasilkan pigmen alami. Monascus dapat tumbuh di media yang mengandung pati. Monascus dapat tumbuh di media yang mengandung pati. Pigmen Monascus banyak digunakan sebagai pewarna makanan dan minuman, karena tidak beracun. Beras banyak digunakan sebagai media pertumbuhan, salah satunya digunakan untuk produksi angkak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa jenis-jenis pigmen yang dihasilkan oleh Monascus sp yang ditumbuhkan di beberapa jenis varietas beras. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 3 tahap yaitu; isolasi Monascus sp, produksi pigmen, ekstaksi dan analisa pigmen. Hasil penelitian menunjukan, semua jenis beras dapat dijadikan media pertumbuhan Monascus sp. Terdapat 5 jenis pigmen yang dapat diidentifikasi yaitu;
