Abstract

Abstract: Overseas scholarship socialization programs play a strategic role in broadening students’ global perspectives and enhancing their readiness for international education; however, information related to scholarships is not always well disseminated, particularly in private higher education institutions. This community service activity aimed to improve students’ understanding of various overseas scholarship schemes, academic and non-academic requirements, and strategies for preparing for international study. The program was implemented through socialization activities including presentations on overseas study experiences, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. The activity was conducted at IAI Hasanuddin Pare, located near Kampung Inggris Pare, a well-known center for English language learning in Indonesia, with approximately 30 participants. The results indicate a significant increase in participants’ knowledge of scholarship opportunities, motivation to pursue overseas study, and awareness of the importance of early academic planning. This program is expected to serve as an initial step toward fostering a globally oriented academic culture and encouraging increased international student mobility.

Abstract

Studies on the interplay of teacher identity and classroom participation have contributed significant findings in transnational settings. However, in-depth research on identity construction and classroom participation of Indonesian EFL teachers serving as Indonesian language teaching assistants in U.S. universities remains scant. This study aims to explore the identity construction of Indonesian EFL teachers as they enact their roles as Indonesian language teaching assistants in U.S. universities. The study employed a narrative inquiry, collecting data through semi-structured interviews. Three EFL teachers serving as Indonesian language teaching assistants with Fulbright scholarships for Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTA) participated in this study. Findings reveal that participants were actively engaged in all phases of instruction, including pre-teaching preparation, classroom interaction, and post-teaching reflection. Their collaboration with American supervisors and use of various digital tools demonstrates professional adaptability and commitment to effective language teaching. Additionally, participants constructed and negotiated their identities through daily interactions with students, colleagues, and members of the local community. Language use, cultural participation, and religious/national identity served as key dimensions in this identity construction. While participants maintained their Indonesian and Muslim values, they also embraced certain American cultural norms, illustrating the dynamic interplay between cultural adaptation and identity preservation.

Abstract

Rapid digital transformation has encouraged local governments to adopt e-government systems to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability. However, many digital public service applications still face a design–reality gap that affects user acceptance and long-term adoption. This study analyzes the acceptance of the SIMANTAP (Integrated Apparatus Management Information System) application implemented by the Civil Service, Education, and Training Agency (BKPP) of Bojonegoro Regency, East Java. The research integrates the Technology Acceptance Model 3 (TAM 3), Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT), and Digital Era Governance (DEG) to provide a comprehensive understanding of factors influencing civil servants’ behavioral intentions. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 324 civil servants who had used SIMANTAP for at least three months and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that perceived usefulness significantly influences behavioral intention, while perceived ease of use significantly affects perceived usefulness but not behavioral intention, reflecting the mandatory nature of system use. The findings also reveal several design–reality gaps related to system complexity, digital literacy, data integration, and organizational culture. This study contributes to e-government literature by offering an integrative analytical framework and provides practical recommendations for improving digital personnel management systems in the public sector.

Abstract

Increasing e-transparency encourages village governments to provide information to the community through village websites. This research aims to provide an overview of e-transparency in providing information services through the village website. This research uses descriptive research with a case study approach. The research focuses on Kiknadze's theory, namely providing information through online media, offering online information to the public, and using e-platforms. Data collection was obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results show that Prambatan village website has quite complete features. However, providing information on the website is only limited to the activities carried out, while information such as village finances is not yet transparent enough, because the website manager has limitations in providing information that is considered private. However, in this case, the Village government has offered the community to participate in providing suggestions and input for the Village, but some residents still do not know about the existence of the website and are less active in providing suggestions and input. The village government has not fully implemented the Prambatan village website as an e-platform in decision-making. The Prambatan Village still uses the direct deliberation method.
