Abstract

Life skills education plays a crucial role in supporting students' academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, and adaptive capacity from an early age. However, systematic reviews on valid life skills assessment instruments that are developmentally appropriate for elementary school students from a guidance and counseling perspective remain limited. This study aims to systematically examine the trends and directions in the development of life skills assessment instruments for elementary school students from a guidance and counseling perspective. The method employed was a Systematic Literature Review following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Literature searches were conducted across four major databases namely Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and PsycINFO, covering articles published between 2010 and 2025, yielding a total of 1,020 records. Through a rigorous process of identification, screening, and eligibility assessment, 90 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using thematic synthesis techniques. The findings indicate that life skills assessment instruments for elementary school students primarily measure domains of social-interpersonal skills, emotional regulation, self-management, and problem-solving, while aspects related to career awareness and contextual adaptability receive relatively limited attention. Self-report scales and teacher ratings are the most dominant types of instruments, whereas performance-based and digital assessments are still emerging and remain underutilized. Geographically, instrument development is predominantly concentrated in Global North countries, raising concerns regarding cultural relevance and measurement equity. These findings underscore the importance of developing life skills assessment instruments that are developmentally sensitive, culturally responsive, and aligned with the needs of guidance and counseling services in elementary schools.

Abstract

The rapid digital transformation in the guidance and counseling profession has resulted in various service innovations, but this progress has not been fully supported by a clear code of ethics in Indonesia.. This study aims to explore the challenges and ethical issues of counseling services in the digital era in order to formulate policy recommendations for adjusting the code of ethics for the guidance and counseling profession. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The criteria used in selecting references are Scopus or Sinta indexed, published between 2015 and 2025, and the research focus is on guidance and counseling in schools. The analysis was conducted on 7 literature categories include. The literature analysis identified three main ethical domains: (1) Confidentiality, privacy, and data security; (2) Counselor digital competence which includes technical aspects and digital literacy; and (3) professional relationships such as the loss of non-verbal cues and the blurring of the counselor's role boundaries. Therefore, this study recommends that the Indonesian Guidance and Counseling Association (ABKIN) formulate ethical standards specifically for digital counseling. The code of ethics should emphasize data encryption protocols, comprehensive virtual informed consent procedures, and digital competency certification for counselors.

Abstract

Pembelajaran luas bangun datar memerlukan kesiapan konseptual siswa terkait prinsip kekekalan luas.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Amid the increasing challenges of social, cultural, and religious diversity in Indonesia, fostering tolerance among elementary school students has become an urgent necessity that must be supported by appropriate learning media. However, systematic studies examining the effectiveness of learning media in the context of tolerance education remain limited, particularly regarding flipbook media, which have been less frequently investigated compared to other forms of media. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of various learning media in promoting tolerance through a systematic literature review (SLR) method. The literature was collected from the Google Scholar and Garuda databases using relevant keywords and subsequently screened based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Out of 50 articles initially identified, 11 articles met the criteria and were selected for analysis. The findings indicate that media such as videos, pop-up books, podcasts, and posters are effective in enhancing students' understanding of and attitudes toward tolerance. Flipbooks based on local wisdom were also found to be feasible and practical; however, research on this medium remains very limited compared to other types of media. These findings provide practical contributions for teachers in selecting relevant instructional media, while also highlighting opportunities for further research on flipbooks as an innovative character education medium aligned with the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse how well fourth-grade elementary school students understand the concept of the volume of three-dimensional shapes, based on the three principles of the law of conservation of volume: identity, reversibility and compensation. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with purposive sampling used to select participants representing diverse cognitive abilities. The research instrument was developed based on three fundamental principles of conservation; identity, reversibility, and compensation—derived from Piagetian theory. Data collection was conducted through classroom observations, activity-based tasks using concrete materials, and semi-structured interviews designed to explore students’ reasoning processes. The collected data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that most students have begun to understand the principle of identity, recognizing that quantity remains constant despite changes in form. However, considerable difficulties were observed in the principles of reversibility and compensation. Many students tended to rely on visual perception, such as the height of a substance, rather than conceptual reasoning when evaluating volume changes. These results suggest that students’ readiness to learn volume concepts has not yet developed optimally and remains at a limited conceptual level. This study highlights the importance of identifying students’ cognitive readiness prior to introducing formal mathematical concepts. The use of a volume conservation-based instrument provides deeper insights into students’ thinking patterns and demonstrates its potential as an effective diagnostic tool. Therefore, mathematics instruction should begin with concrete experiences that support conceptual understanding before transitioning to formal procedures
