Abstract

Baros is one of the sub-districts in Cimahi, where stunting is relatively high. Data from the Puskesmas Kelurahan Baros Mekar shows that 43 children are indicated to be stunted. The results of interviews with cadres showed that the community needs more knowledge and insight regarding stunting. Apart from that, there needs to be more public awareness regarding the importance of maintaining a balance of nutrients and vitamins in food. Community service was carried out in September 2023 by lecturers and students at Bhakti Kencana University. The target of the activity is families with 30 children aged 0–5 years. Activities include providing education about stunting prevention by lecturers and the nutrition section of the Puskesmas Cigugur Tengah, demonstrations of a nutritional menu balanced with my plate's contents, and how to breastfeed and wash hands correctly. After that, a stunting screening is carried out. Participants were given pre-test and post-test questionnaires regarding stunting knowledge and filled in data on the child's weight. The presentation of knowledge about parenting patterns at the pre-test was 77.02%, the post-test was 84.02%, the pre-test hygiene knowledge was 99.52%, and the post-test was 100%, while the pre-test sanitation knowledge was 80.37%, and post-test was 87.77%. The nutritional status of toddlers based on BB/U showed that BB was less than 3.3%, very low BB was 6.7%, normal was 76.7%, and the risk of being overweight was 13.3%. It is hoped that increasing knowledge about stunting can be implemented to support optimal child growth and development.

Abstract

Mild morbidity due to pain in the musculoskeletal system often occurs in the elderly and is often treated independently using non-pharmacological therapy. Community service aims to provide education and demonstrate pain management using natural analgesics in the form of coconut clove oil (NYAIH PADI) and acupressure therapy. The activity was held in November 2023 in Nyalindung Village, RW 14, Ganjar Sabar Village, Nagreg District, Bandung Regency with 39 participants attending. The activity was carried out in three stages, namely the stage of making NYAIH PADI, then giving the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire followed by education and demonstrations regarding acupressure therapy and the process of making NYAIH PADI. Next, the product was distributed to participants who experienced joint pain to be used for one week at a dose of 1 – 2 drops per day on the painful part of the skin and then the changes in pain were seen. The location of the left foot and right foot where many people complain is very painful. The pre and post-test results showed changes in the category of very sick, decreasing by 1.32, and sick, decreasing by 0.25. Meanwhile, low-level sickness and not-sickness increased to 0.53 and 0.54. Giving NYAIH PADI has been proven to reduce pain so it can be used as an initial alternative for the community. At the end of the session, cadres and the community were given a YouTube link to the production process via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__kgIp6E2q4. The activity ended with giving door prizes and group photos.

Abstract

This situation reflects underlying issues, including inadequate family knowledge of balanced nutrition, inappropriate infant and young child feeding practices, and suboptimal environmental health conditions that hinder optimal child growth and development. Limited access to sustained health information and education further contributes to the persistence of the problem. This community engagement program aimed to address these challenges through targeted nutrition education and environmental health improvement interventions. The activity was conducted in August 2025 by lecturers and students from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Bhakti Kencana University. Participants included 34 individuals, consisting of health cadres and mothers with children aged 0–5 years. The intervention comprised education on stunting prevention through balanced nutrition using the “My Plate” approach, distribution of vitamin A supplementation and deworming medication by health cadres, and training on the preparation of healthy and nutritious snacks for toddlers. Participants completed pretest and posttest questionnaires to assess knowledge changes. The results indicated an increase in the mean score from 10.79 (pretest) to 11.03 (posttest), with a mean difference of 0.24 points, suggesting a modest improvement in participants’ knowledge following the intervention. Abstract

Background: Surgical site infection (SSI) is one of the major challenges in healthcare, increasing patient morbidity and mortality. The global incidence of SSI has risen to 23.6 cases per 100 surgical procedures. Therefore, prevention and control of surgical site infections are essential patient‑safety efforts. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Surgical Safety Checklist in relation to SSI occurrence at the hospital. Methods: This research method A quantitative correlational research design was employed, utilizing a retrospective case-control approach. The study population comprised all patients who underwent surgery with indications of SSI, totaling 63 medical records, with total sampling conducted from January 2024 to April 2025. Data collection instruments included an observation checklist based on WHO guidelines and patient medical records. Results: Data analysis using the independent t-test revealed a significance value of 0.00 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference in the mean incidence of SSI between groups with good and poor SSC implementation. Among the 63 patients diagnosed with wound dehiscence, the average onset of infection was 9 days postoperatively, with a mean surgical duration of 142 minutes. Conclusion: The findings suggest that enhancing the quality of SSC implementation may serve as an effective strategy to reduce the incidence of HAIs in hospitals, particularly within central surgical installations. The results also underscore the importance of strengthening supervision, implementing preventive measures, and integrating the use of electronic medical records (EMR) to improve infection control and patient safety.
