Abstract

Defense technology known as stealth technology aims to reduce the response of electromagnetic waves emitted by radar so that the position or location of an object is not detected. Barium Hexaferite has properties as a Radar Absorbing Material (RAM). Research on radar absorbing matrial from barium hexaferite already exists, but those using cu doping do not yet exist. In order to increase the effectiveness of its absorption, Barium Hexaferite is doped with Cu metal synthesized by coprecipitation method. Aniline polymerization was carried out with BaM to form BaM/PAni composite. Characterization of composite synthesis samples and coating results were carried out by SEM, FTIR, LCR-meter, and VNA to identify chemical bonds, electrical conductivity properties, microstructure, and reflection loss properties of RAM composite samples. Based on the results of previous research, the optimal absorption of multilayer coatings on steel with a reflection loss of -49.028 dB was obtained with an absorption frequency of 8.2 GHz. The addition of Cu doping is expected to improve the material's ability to absorb radar waves and reduce object reflections.

Abstract

Developments in the 21st century require the development of technology, one of which is construction material technology. The construction material generally used is conventional concrete on the market. However, in its use, conventional concrete is not environmentally friendly. Therefore, biomaterials were developed from the use of white oyster mushrooms with various media. This study of biomaterials develops mycelium using three types of media, namely rice husk waste, corn stalk waste and wood dust waste. The aim of this research is to obtain optimal media for the growth of white oyster mushrooms. The cellulose content of corn stalks, rice husks, and sawdust were 33%, 38%, and 41%, respectively. The research results showed that sawdust waste media was the best medium as a fungal growth medium. Wood dust waste with a cellulose content of 41% can produce the growth of mold as high as 8.62 cm. In rice husk waste media with a cellulose content of 38%, 5.62 cm was obtained. Then, on corn stalk waste media with a cellulose content of 33%, fungal growth was obtained as high as 0.632 cm

Abstract

The rare earth element (REE) is not a free metal element or an individual pure mineral, generally in the form of compounds. To obtain rare earth element is done by extraction that requires modern technology with expensive costs. The use of REE is very important for the development of industry and modern technology. Seeing the potential and rapidly developing technology, the Rare Earth Metal in developed countries is currently being used as a mixture of materials in the manufacture of weapons. This journal will discuss the use of rare earth element for the F-35 Lightning II fighter. REE used in F-35 is a mixture for composite Graphite/Epoxy and Graphite/Bismaleimide, as elements Rhenium, Samarium, and Tantalum. This compost is used on the fuselage structure as an example for the Fuselage Center. The results of these alloys can increase aircraft performance, which is resistant to high temperatures, resistant to high pressure, and cannot be detected by radar (stealth). But also before being applied it needs accurate analysis of the negative impacts if the composites are implemented

Abstract

Sisal fiber is a natural fiber obtained from the sisal plant (agave sisalana). In addition to the low price of sisal fiber, its strength is legendary with its high tensile strength and superior stiffness. When used as reinforcement in polymer composites, these fibers can provide additional strength to the material. This makes the composite more resistant to compression, tension and bending. Because it has good strength and resistance to pressure, sisal fiber is often used as a reinforcement in making polymer composites. Sisal fiber is also often used in making ropes, nets, cables and other products that require mechanical resistance. The potential for using sisal fiber in various industries is very large. This fiber can be used as a composite for automotive materials, building construction materials, the shipping industry, other equipment, and even packaging. Sisal fiber shows excellent resilience and strength when tested together with other components. Therefore, sisal fiber has special properties and is often used as an alternative to natural fibers in polymer composites.

Abstract

In this journal, we will explain the use of Magnetorheological fluid (MRF) in body armor. The use of MRF material was chosen because its properties can be adjusted using external magnetic forces. The durability of the material structure will be tested using a 9 mm projectile and will be tested using a puncture. In tests carried out with projectiles, the MRF structure will experience a reduction in depth. Testing using a puncture will change the MRF structure to deform by 30% of the normal structure. The application of MRF to kevlar can increase energy absorption and can reduce the effects of bullet impacts. These results show quite good results compared to using other materials in making Kevlar. Apart from that, several advantages of MRFs from graphene in making body armor are also explained. This advantage was obtained from testing the mechanical properties of graphene against several other materials.

Abstract

Material testing before use in combat vehicles is critical. The aim is to detect and resolve defects in combat vehicle materials so that the vehicle can operate optimally. This research aims to improve the structural performance of combat vehicles by focusing on dissimilar welding material testing. The materials observed in this study were MIL-DTL 46100 Armor and ISO-15608 1.2 Non-Armor, which were evaluated through metallographic analysis (to examine microstructure) and Vickers Microhardness testing (to assess hardness). This was done to ensure that the materials used in combat vehicles can effectively deal with various threats. Results showed that metallographic observation of the HAZ of the three specimens revealed that the microstructure was dominated by acicular ferrite. This structure is highly desirable in welding joints. Generally, the non-armor material (ISO-15608 1.2) has a lower range of HV values than the armor material (MIL-DTL-46100). This indicates that the armor material has a higher hardness, which suits the needs of protection applications.

Abstract

A magnet or magazine is an object that has a magnetic field. Magnets can also be interpreted as objects with symptoms and properties affecting certain materials around them. Magnetic force is one part of the electromagnetic force, where the other force becomes the fundamental force of nature caused by the movements of charge. Because magnets only attract particular objects, they can also not work or are not stylized, or there can even be a rejection of some particular objects on the magnet. The new generation of transportation is fast, reliable, and safe. In addition, it is also convenient, environmentally friendly, easy maintenance, and supports mass transportation. Magnetic levitation (maglev) trains are among the best candidates that meet these requirements.

Abstract

Oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) fiber is an agricultural waste that has potential as an environmentally friendly acoustic material. The high cellulose and hemicellulose content in TKKS plays a role in its ability to absorb sound, making it a more sustainable alternative to synthetic materials. This research aims to summarize and analyze studies related to the acoustic characteristics of TKKS, fiber processing, and the value of the sound absorption coefficient produced at various frequencies. The methods used in processing acoustic composites made from TKKS include mixing with polyester resin and hand lay-up techniques. The results of the analysis show that the TKKS composite material has good sound absorption capability at low to medium frequencies, with an absorption coefficient that meets the ISO 11654 standard. In addition, this study identified variables such as fiber length, composite thickness, and chemical treatment as important factors in optimizing the acoustic performance of TKKS. The results of this review are expected to provide insights for the utilization of TKKS as a sustainable acoustic material solution in the construction and soundproofing industries.

Abstract

Spirulina platensis is a species of microalgae from the cyanobacteria group known for its high nutritional value and extensive health benefits. This microalgae is spiral or helical in shape and bluish green in color due to its phycocyanin content, a protein pigment that also has antioxidant properties. Spirulina platensis is often used as a food supplement because of its high protein content, reaching 50-70%, and contains vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids that support health. This study developed a peel-off gel mask from Spirulina platensis extract with Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (DMC) as gelling agents in various compositions. Formulas with a ratio of PVA 2.25%: DMC 1.25% (formula A) and PVA 2.00%: DMC 1.05% (formula B) showed good physical stability, including pH close to skin pH, viscosity, and ideal drying time. These results show the potential of Spirulina platensis as a multifunctional camouflage material that can protect the skin from UV radiation and extreme environmental conditions.
